Deisgn work for the Music Master and it's two- pickup sibling the Duo-Sonic began in 1955. The concept for this model was foe a "student" model - as you mention. Both models came with a single-piece maple neck and fingerboard, with a 21-fret, 22.5 inch scale length. They also had anodized aluminum pickguards. Sometime in 1960, they switched to the plastic pickguard. Circa. 1964, they began to offer an option for a 24-inch scale 22-fret neck. Early on,t eh bodies were made from Poplar, but some had ash or Alder bodies. In the 50's, the standard finish was "Desert Sand" -- essentially clear Lacquer over a light tan stain. Fender opened up this model to Custom color finishes including a Sunburst, Dakota Red, Red Mahogany, Olympic White and Daphne Blue. Of course, the Duo-Sonic underwent a few minor changes and eventually became the Mustang. Although, it has reappeared over time. Largely because of the shorter scale many women love these models which is more comfortable for smaller hands. Liz Phair is one of the more well know women wholove the Duo-Sonics. But many men like liked these as well including Talking Head's David Byrne played a Duo Sonic as did Jimi Hendrix while he was with the Isley Brothers
I’d like to see more of that house. Also even though I know lots about fender. History of guitars of any kind are videos I watch a lot of. But not just guitars as well cheers Ellen
Only took a month and a half for me to respond. I would LOVE one of these. A player, not so much a collector, such as refinished model like this. I have a 77 Musicmaster bass and love it.
The guitar sounded great, the shirt was maybe a bit tight in the sleeves.... but the drink set it all off. you needed a margarita or.... I don't know. Something with an umbrella in it.
Ellen, I'd have to agree with this excellent gentleman here. The shirt calls for some sort of Pale Ale, but the guitar needs something a bit more 60s lounge/exotica to go with it. I'm getting a Tiki vibe, but I live in the UK, so I don't even know what Tiki is. It's something to do with bamboo, right?
You are absolutely my fav person on youtube right now. :) Thanks for being a human.
Hey thanks, that's really nice. We're all just humans in it together!
Good fun video again!
Thanks Steve!
I love your energy !
Thank you!
Also that deck is stellar!”

Great video - I would buy that guitar if I wasn't on the other side of the pond!
Hope you can visit after the apocalypse!
Great video! You can get twang out of a Musicmaster or Duosonic, though- you just hafta pick close to the bridge to pull the twang out!
"Get The Twang Out" sounds like something we want on a T-Shirt!
@@FannysHouseofMusic I'd rock one!

Haha! You both are spot on. Ellen bought the shirt even though it makes her look like the owner of a seedy bowling alley!
Is the 60 for sale?? :))
Sorry, this one sold already!
You know what, "Little mitts" is actually my rapper name.
Haha! Lil Mitts!
Cool guitar. Nice shirt, but looks tight in the shoulders and sleeves.
Ellen bought it anyway haha
You've got a whole wall's worth of one-pickup guitars.
