    Great idea! I had to eliminate the buffer from my mmu to fit it into a smaller space. I used the RepWinder STL to fit 5 spools next to each other in their RepBox. It's about $200 all in but having 5 reliable self-rewinding spools in a drybox that's thinner than my lack enclosure and mounted just a foot above it is pretty wonderful.

    Amazing design ! I kept putting off printing a self rewinding spool because of the spring that had to be printed cause they always have to be replaced eventually

    Why not use auto rewind spool holder? That's also what Bambu used on AMS lite.

    Thanks! I knew I needed a buffer for the carrot feeder I am about to build, but I wasn't quite sure how it worked just looking at the CAD. I think I will try and tweak it a bit (flip the spool holder, add hooks to the feet) so I can hang a few of them off bottom of the reprack above my printer.

      also check the usermod folder on github, there are a couple for the feet, upside down, magnetic feet etc.

    that's brilliant! i have a Prusa mk3 with a mmu and the buffer takes up a lot of space, ao i might make a few of these...

    How many loops should be in the buffer cage? Is there a formula for the retract distance per loop?

    Why not implement a cutter? Instead of reversing the filament just have the next filament push the rest through?

    Or you could just use an auto rewinder. Then if you swap out the filament you don’t have to deal with the buffer again.

    Cool idea is there the file for the filament holder ? I would like to download

    how does all that unwinding and rewinding not result in clogs?

    • @TheRobojay
      @TheRobojay ปีที่แล้ว

      why would it? The biggest concern I see is that this system doesn't use a cutter for the filament when unloading
