Movie was GREAT. I do wish we had more insight on Proxima. He really wasn't that bad, he seem to only want to advance apes as a whole. He understood he couldn't learn everything, just wanted to advance the apes. It's just the way he went about it... Crazy twist for me..
I compare this movie heavily to rise of the planet of the apes in the sense that it’s a set up movie where we get introduced to new characters, a new story and then a potential look on what’s to come in the future. I enjoyed that! That being said, who else was as curious as I was with what they could’ve been teasing with that last shot?👀 Also, I really loved the opening that was really nice!
I wasn't very excited about it, wasn't thrilled by the trailer, and didn't feel it was necessary to go back to the Apes. But I went to see it in IMAX and absolutely loved it. Could have been another cash grab with dodgy effects, confusing action sequences, and zero character development, but I thought the care and attention to detail, not just for the effects but also for the characters and the underlying themes, was highly impressive. Glad you enjoyed it, Austin - a lot of critics have been very sniffy about it.
Yay!! I’ve been patiently waiting for this review. I’m so glad/thankful you liked Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes!! I can’t wait to see it tomorrow night in IMAX! Thank you Austin!! 😃 🦍 🐴 🔥
hi, tuning in from Scotland, UK . I adore the reboot trilogy Rise, Dawn, War and now Kingdom. The are my fave films in movie history and are masterpieces to me. I think it’s sad that these movies are criminally underrated and unappreciated . I absolutely adore Caesar he is for me the greatest character ever written for a movie . Andy Serkis did a phenomenal job as Caesar. The other actors who played Koba ( Toby Krebbel), Maurice, Rocket, Buck, Blue Eyes, Luka, Winter, Ash, Bad ape , baby Cornelius etc were amazing too. I love Kingdom i think it’s a stunning beautiful film because it was shot outside. The characters are again top notch. My faves are Noa, Anaya, Raka and Soona. They are just as easy to fall in love with and Caesar and his tribe. I don’t like Mae she’s shady as hell. She used Noa and the eagle clan to fit her own agenda then turns around and try’s to drown Noa and his clan then she says goodbye to him with the gun behind her back. I don’t trust her. I’m team ape all the way. The same as i was for Caesar and his tribe. Proximus was great but i found the big gorilla henchman Silva way more intimidating. Koba was the greatest villian for me because you understood his reasons for hating humans . We would all react like he did if we had been tortured, cut, experimented on he just went about it the wrong way. One the flip side of the coin was Caesar he tried so hard to get along with humans. He was a wonderful leader and he grew up loved by his human family, his ape family and his tribe family. I ugly cried again at the cinema at the beginning of Kingdom when they showed Caesars funeral. The didn’t have to include that scene but i’m so glad we did. It felt like the audience was part of Caesars family and we were getting the chance to say goodbye to him too and doing the apes together strong movement. I hadn’t cried like that since War. They’re the only movies i’ve ever cried at. Noa reminds me so much of Caesar. He has mannerisms similar to Caesar, he has Caesars birthmark. He has a lot of potential to be a great leader to the eagle clan. The future of the franchise shines bright. I’m looking forward to what happens next. There is 5 more films planned. I would like to see the reboot do it’s own thing and not try and come up with something like the originals. I don’t like them. I prefer my apes to look like actual apes which Rise, Dawn, War and Kingdom succeeded in doing . Take care 😘🏴 #Team Noa ❤ #Caesar Never Forgotten ❤💔😭🤧 ❤ #Apes Together Strong. ❤
In my Top Ten Movies of 2024 (list subject to change): -Civil War -Late Night with the Devil -Love Lies Bleeding -Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes -Abigail -Challengers -Dune Part Two
I had a blast with it, the script maybe isn’t as good as in the original movie or the rebooted trilogy, but I still liked it, I loved Noa and his buddies, Mae was very interesting, and most of all I loved seeing how the movie worked with Caesar’s legacy and what he has become for the apes. And the direction was solid, the soundtrack was great, the visuals were flawless, and it was awesome to see the planet truly be a planet of the apes. Wes knows ball!!
Austin: “You just had to be there when Caesar said no for the first time in 2014”. Me: “Actually It was 2011” 🤓☝️. All jokes aside nice review I enjoyed the review and movie. 💯
Movie wasnt bad.. it was definitely pretty good. But not what i expected. The 300 years later transition was a bit much. The noah was jumping into boss battles with low HP the whole time. Literally his only unlocked skill was dashing and running. He was very weak compared to Caesar being a brute.. basically a monky viking
saw it last night, and absolutely loved it. The writing has an emotional backbone, stakes, and compelling characters with a beautiful score and very smart themes.
I don't get why they couldn't make the humans look more unkempt it's been centuries plus Mae looking the way she does has me thinking since she gave the disk to people in the bunker she probably cleans up there before venturing out to find Noa.
Hey Austin! Hope you doing well!I have a question, i was wondering about this for a long long time but never bothered ask until now: Will you ever watch movies again outside of this or last year? you haven't logged a single film pre-2000 like in a year or two😬 (rewatches doesnt count) Are you not interested in cinema as a greater medium? not interested in classic movies, those that inspired current filmmakers, or your favorites? im not talking 1900-60, I mean at least movies from 1960-1990 or even early 2000s. I get it, you have to review a lot of stuff, but watching 200+ new release every year, and most of them filler mid forgettable or straight up garbage. But you know you missing out a LOADS of great films, classics, cult-classics, a ton of mustwatches, and a lot of them probably you would really like, hundredtimes better than those forgettable mass produced nothingburger. (im not talking about Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, im excited about this one too) i was wondering about this for a long time, and im just dumbfounded. I'm not trying to f with you or anything, but as somone who loves movies as much as you, you completely cut out earlier cinema for years now. Also it would make you definitely more knowledgeable about film, and could pay off indirectly, making you more nuanced at reviews and your job. Im just genuinely curious, don't take this as an attack, I like your stuff, and I follow you for like five years!
I watch plenty of movies that no one knows about but don’t really log them anymore. No time. I’m a father now, so I have 1. Less time to watch and 2. Way less time to log. Don’t have to worry about me haha When you get older, you will understand that family comes first! And it takes up most of your time!
I actualy feel like the face mocap is hurting the cgi because its a humans face processed onto an ape and it makes the talking apes looking uncanny valley unrelastic and not like a ream monkey. The moneky tht dont talk especialy from older movies look so much better then the talking ones
I like the Planet of the Apes franchise but I wasn't too excited to see this movie. One because I was nervous where this series go to going and two I am kinda getting tired of the another and another Ape movie. I think Hollywood going to have to move on from the franchise at some time, before something bad happen.
Was good but not a movie I'd tell others to go see it in the theater. I get understanding the characters but the whole story could've been told by an elder and then right into whatever is next. I don't regret seeing it in the theater because of popcorn but epic? Nah, not right now. Maybe in the future it will be if the next two are great.
The ape cgi will look awful/not realistic if u don't watch it in dolby/imax n the theater sound makes the action scenes more immersive than home speakers
I really don't understand the love for Rise of the Planet of the Apes. It's a terrible movie, Franco is a terrible actor and it has turned me off to seeing any of the other movies.
After I finished it I yelled “What a Wonderful Day!”
Dang that impression of Koba is almost as good as Toby Kebbell's performance as Koba
Haha thank you
Fr
Ceaser said no for the first time in 2011 not 2014🤣

Just saw this yesterday and loved it!!!
My favorite is dawn of the planet of the apes
Going tonight in imax
I'm watching this weekend. Thanks for your review, Austin 💜
Another fantastic video thank you Austin!
My pleasure!
Yay!! I’ve been patiently waiting for this review. I’m so glad/thankful you liked Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes!! I can’t wait to see it tomorrow night in IMAX! Thank you Austin!! 😃 🦍 🐴 🔥
Kingdom of the Apes was KILLER! More mystery and suspense than previous ones, leaving us wanting more, more, MORE!
The villain wanted to advance the ape species. But at the same time I thought he was gonna conquer and kill more apes if he got the guns/tanks.
My faves are Rise, Kingdom, War and Dawn. #Apes Together Strong ❤ #Team Ape Always ❤
Noah has been setup to be a great lead for the franchise. Great Movie!
Just saw it, thought it was great. Very emotional. Loved the Apes, this Will absolutely be a new trilogy.
After seeing Kingdom, Nintendo pulled a blinder by getting Wes Ball to do the Legend of Zelda movie!
You hit this review out of the park! My sentiments exactly. BTW you have my Sons name.
Got the chance of seeing it last night. Gotta say, I was pretty locked in when Raka showed up. Solid start to a hopeful trilogy.
As a longtime planet of the apes fan, this movie was everything I wanted it to be. That ending!

-Civil War
-Late Night with the Devil

Civil War and Challengers are massively overrated and overhyped!
Furiosa may join the list too at the end of this May.
@@lukerota1547That's subjective!
"No!" gave me chills the first time I saw it

“We just love short-form content.” 🤣
saw it last night, and absolutely loved it. The writing has an emotional backbone, stakes, and compelling characters with a beautiful score and very smart themes.
I noticed the score wasnt really that good. Compared to the other three movies.

Is it just me , or Rise of the planet of the apes 2011 is the best of them all ?.I have watched it 20 times , and I just love it.
I think so.
Best ever has to be the 1968 original
Ceaser said that NO in 2011's Rise actually. 😅
Yeahhhh, dad brain 😂
I got to admit i thought the apes would be more developed. Especially after 300 years after War.

In you're opinion I thought It was a really good movie, plus the acting was great maybe you're watching a planet of the apes from another universe 😄👀
