- Our first canoe camping trip of the year! Winter just left us and just 2 weeks before we was dog sledding on the lakes and now we're paddling.
So we took our two solo canoes and packed our stuff and border collies Johnny & Annie and went for an overnighter on a small river. With us we had a brand new Nortent Vern 2 to test for the first time. A very interesting 2 person tent with a stovejack.
A cozy trip with campfire steaks, funny dogs and a long bright night.

We are Stina & Matti and we live in Northern Sweden in a small place called Jokkmokk. Except for making videos we also run a small company called Jokkmokkguiderna and a kennel called Working Husky Kennel. We offer guided outdoor tours in Swedish Lapland all around the year. During the winter we mostly do dog sled tours and in the summertime, it’s hiking tours, wildlife safaris, canoe, and packraft trips. We live year-round in Jokkmokk with our Siberian Husky and 2 Border Collies.

So beautiful place, and lovely dogs! Can't wait myself to have my first paddle of the year. Warm regards from Central Finland.
I have enjoyed your videos very much, takes me back to a place I have been to twice. Once to the Winter Market in 2014 and again in 2019 in the month of August when the “Rainbow” people were all over the town. Jokkmokk and Fairbanks are some what similar towns in many ways, just on opposite sides of the world. I have canoed camped and winter traveled with my sled dogs many US miles back in my younger years. I get a lot of pleasure watching how you do it, keep up the good work.
My questions are what is the company that made you pullover hooded fleece and which Nova Craft Canoe was Stina paddling.
I also have nearly all my life had a Border Collie as a companion, right not a 12 year old male that is slowing down like I am and a Gordon Setter female that will be a year old tomorrow.
Lovely country that you live in, very much like my beloved Alaska.
“
Thank you Richard! Haha, yes we remeber the rainbow people gathering too. Very nice guys.
We have some Norwegian friends who has been in Alaska and they call Jokkmokk "Little Alaska" because they think it's so similar.
I, Stina was using my Houdini Power Houdi and Matti used a Klättermusen Fallen Wooly Hoodie.
My canoe is a Nova Craft Fox 14 Solo Tuff Stuff. A really nice lightweight canoe.
Take Care and give your dog a hug. /Stina
Great vid. Excellent drone footage. Reflections, still waters run deep. The stone, when I worked west coast in California USA we would be up in the mountains in the sand pits where we would find big shark's teeth several miles from the Pacific Ocean. So you too may run into a shark in the mountains, or at least it's teeth. Next time.
Sharks and crocodiles… ;-)

@@JOKKMOKKGUIDERNA just wait until the cottonmouths fall out of the trees into the rubber rafts. Time to swim with them. Urgh!
Annie watches over the camp, Johnny was guarding the food because he knew Stina would get hungry 😋
Fun trip! Good to see the four of you - happy Spring to you ❤
😂 True! I could get hangry 🤣. /Stina
This is the good life ❤❤❤
Yes… it’s outdoor life!!!
😄
The Pest of the Moskitos get on and on and on. The Circle is pestet.
Yepp… Sometimes they say that god create the mosquitoes, because otherwise Swedish Lapland would have been the paradise!!!
I think that’s true…

I own 2 Nortents, and love them.
And Klättermusen gear from Åre. Top stuff everything.
We are really disappointed in Klättermusen clothes the last years. Breaks fast and not at all the same quality as they had before ☹️
@@JOKKMOKKGUIDERNA I must confess that I bought my Klättermusen gear 5-10 years ago. I can't comment on the current quality since their prices went beyond what I am willing to pay for outdoor clothing. Take care.
So nice to see you both canoing with the dogs. Matti really needed the coffee in the morning. 🙂
Thank you! Yes, Matti really need his morning ☕️. 😉
I like your interaction with the dogs,... I have a St. Bernard, & a Great Pyrenees, and I can totally relate treating them, like family,...🐶🐶
They ARE our family these two and all the huskies. We are a big family of 2 humans and 49 dogs 😉. /Stina & Matti
Great to see you both spending some quality time together, with your dogs too
❤️

Awesome pictures of the gorgeous spring landscape. That mirrorlike lake! And the wood pidgeos'eggs 😅 late easter bunny?
Yes you only find them in Jokkmokk 😂
Love the video and your humor/jokes 👍❤., thank you & high 5 to the dogs
Thank you! Happy you liked it! 😊
what a beautiful life and beautiful nature. We are back in the Netherlands and we are missing Jokkmokk❤we had a wonderful trip 🇸🇪 Johann and Ylona and our Husky Mowgli
Jokkmokk stays in many peoples hearts ❤️ when they have been here. Some can never let it go and move here 😊. /Stina
Great video Matti and stina👍👍🇬🇧🇬🇧
🙏
Seeing this I really want to go canoeing instantly 🙂... but unfortunately life does not allow it right now ...🙄
I know Alexander... you need to wait 1,5 week til Andrea comes home./Stina
Flott video som alltid Matti og Stina - ha en flott vår / sommer - alltid gøy og dølge dere på små og store ekspedisjoner .
Tack! Och tack det samma! 🌞
Dishwasher-Doggy! Great training. 😅
🤣 yes, Johnny is a perfect dishwasher-dog.
I'm surprised there has been such a change in the weather & your environment from a mere 2 weeks ago.
Am looking for upcoming packraft tours shortly.
Warm Regards from Reno, Nevada, U.S.A.
It’s usually super fast turnaround from winter to summer. That’s lovely!!! It’s never boring.
:-)

At my cabin to the East of Jokkmokk there was still 20 inches of snow 3 weeks ago and 2 weeks ago the lake was still covered in ice. Today I was there and all the ice was gone and it was 30°C / 86 F ... it happens crazy fast in the North ...
@@AlexanderBlumenau Still shaking my head in disbelief, it's warmer where you are than here in Northwestern Nevada. HOwever we don't have mosquitos because it's so dry & it's too early for Rattlesnakes.
@@azclaimjumper over 80 F is rare over here .. or should be, but in recent years it appears to happen a bit more often. In any case this is unusually early for such a heat wave I would say. We are not really used to it so I feel like all I do is in slow motion! ;-)
Oh no Thermacell ...😱 I hope it was not because someone borrowed it 🙈 ... and it is not only the first year that is blood sweat and tears with a border collie ....
We didn't expect any mosquitoes so we didn't bring it, and we got it back from you before this trip.
how is the tent? Nortent gets heavily criticized lately for various apparent shortcomings regarding structral and even functional aspects... would öove to learn about your takes on that
This is the second verion of Vern 2. The first one we didn't like and gave Nortent feedback and they have listened and made changes on the 2024 version. We haven't used it much yet but first impressions is very good.
Ser lite kyligt ut
Lite småkallt utan en jacka på kvällen och tidig morgon men varmt på dagen. Nu knappt 2 veckor senare är det riktig sommarvärme dygnet runt. Väldigt tidigt för att va här uppe i norr.
