I mainly cycle camped I camped in one man tents they are more like a coffin I went onto a two man tent if it rains you have room to sit and move my tent was similar side door and bell rainy days you can cook in the bell also you can use the side door with the sleeping bag set up the bell for storage at night, the key is when you don’t use something don’t bring it again when you pack don’t over load you can travel faster

When we're canoeing, for example, and don't need to carry everything, we also prefer bigger tents. We bought the Hilleberg Niak (2-person tent) and have tried it this summer, and it has great space and is not too heavy. We'll probably come up with a review of it in the future. /Stina

The more remote your hiking, the less safe ultralight is. If you are very remote, you need sturdier gear, more repair gear, and more redundancy. If one is hiking the Appalachian Trail in the U.S., he is rarely far from other hikers, and usually within a few miles of a road or town. That hiker can cut corners and go ultralight. A person in remote Alaska or the Canadian Northern Wilderness would be risking catastrophe by going ultralight.

I love seeing everyone's gear selection from different countries. While I mostly car camp I specifically buy gears I can also use for backpacking. My last two gear to get a 800 down quilt and tent (I'll probably get that amazing Nemo dragonfly OSMO) as I hammock camp.

Hello there saw your channel amongst other camping channels ,the episode where you gave out common camping winter mistakes ,as someone who camps up in the hills of Scotland I must confess there is some I have done too,my biggest problem is lack of sleep I try to tire my self out but keep waking up every hour ,but the last camp I done it was cold as a newbie and I felt really cold ,here in Scotland it is very wet and damp ,but we do not get any cold weather like Sweden does 🙄.Thanks I enjoy the channel.and keep up the good work 👍

Your Rescue Me PLB is one I knew nothing about so I did a lil internet research.
Seems it's made by ACR so I know it's a good product.
My PLB is the ACR ResQLink 400. Also NO Subscription required or needed. However, I carry mine in a pant pocket when hiking rather than in my backpack for easy accessibility if needed. If I trip, fall, & am seriously hurt, hopefully I'll be able to access it with a minimum of movement.
I also carry one of those orange handled FireSteel/Ferro Rods which I consider my primary spark producer for starting a fire.
Warm Regards from Reno, Nevada U.S.A.

@@JOKKMOKKGUIDERNA I especially like that the battery to your Rescue Me is good for 7 years, mine is only good for 5 years. Your Rescue Me works down to -20ºC, temperatures which are normal in your part of the world in winter. Your Rescue ME features an infrared strobe, my old model doesn't, the newer Model ResQLink now includes the same Infrared strobe, which is especially helpful in finding you at night, even in fog. Always, Always, KNOW the $365 cost is the best $365 you ever spent for any equipment, IF you find yourself in a life or death situation.
Warm Regards from Reno, Nevada U.S.A.

Remember, sometimes the “feeling” of security can lead a person to pack their fears. Let years of experience in a well known environment guide your gear choices.
In the lower latitudes of the California mountains I would carry 3.4kg/7.5lbs of gear, but around in northern Sweden I would carry 4.5kg/10lbs

Impressed by the weight of your pack, only 15kg for a week long trip? And only 65 liter backpack. I have never understood have some people manage this, my pack is never below 25-27 kg's for a week outdoors, and at least 30+kg's for two weeks alone and the packs volume must be at least 95liters, preferably more. And...I find all the gear I carry - at least most of it - to be indispensable🙂. Never carry books, and only a compact camera.

That is very heavy. There is a lot of lightweight stuff today that can make your hike much more comfortable. Or maybe you carry a lot of food? I hiked for 4 days this time. For a week I would need a little bit more food that maybe would add an extra kilo or so. /Stina

    • @JOKKMOKKGUIDERNA
      @JOKKMOKKGUIDERNA  ปีที่แล้ว

Jag har ju en ganska stor border collie (Johnny) och han tältar jag inte med i detta tältet, då blir det lite trångt. Men en mindre hund funkar om man inte är så stor själv. /Stina
