- This cabin is tucked away in the middle of the wilderness. It's surrounded by beautiful snowy trees and frozen lakes. In this video, I am getting more familiar with the cabin. I am making delicious meals and working on little projects that will help my snowmobile boggan. The setting is beautiful and winter is in full bloom.

Jay, I lost my dad right after Christmas last year (2022). One of the last things we did together while he and mom were visiting for Christmas was watch a bunch of your videos. My dad really enjoyed your content. It was too hard for me to watch your content until today. So I missed a year, but I look forward to catching up. Thanks for doing what you do.
Sorry to hear about your loss @Unclejunior152 💐

I really loved reading this comment. Thanks, Capt D.J. Smith. Jay
As a oldie retired Royal Navy veteran I enjoyed this comment and can completely agree in what you say.
I can relate to your comment about getting inside the cabin where it's cold and it slowly warms up from the stove. I'm sure some who haven't experienced that wouldn't understand. I use to hike in the Adirondack Mountains in Upstate NY, USA at -40° F below zero. There's something about going from a freezing cabin to one that gets warm.

A cabin surrounded by trees is a perfect get away from it all...if i have a stock of food, water, generator, tools,a small radio and my vape stuff i could live there forever👍
Jay, adding the mudroom or cold storage room it will help in keeping warm air inside the cabin. The sooner the better! Good luck.
Hi Jay , I think it's a wonderful idea about the extension, can't wait for you to start it. Love from Caroline Butler from UK. X❤
Yes! A great idea. I'm looking forward to everything you do to make improvements to this charming place.
So would closing the door...lol
This video is amazing, thank you for creating such a wonderful thing. Whoever is reading this comment, I wish you success, health, love and happiness!
to be enclosed just enough, but surrounded by so much open space, is a gem of a find.!! 😮
Definitely
14??!! I guessed 4! I had faith in that Honda generator....hahaha..Thanks for sharing your adventures.👍🏼
That meal cooking in the wood stove looked amazing! But man if I ate that at 11 o’clock I’d be up all night with heartburn lol great video 🇨🇦👍🏻
I moved from Belgium to the other side of the world, to tropical Thailand, and i like to follow your adventures in the freezing cold while it's here 35° Celsius/95°fahrenheit... greetings from Pattaya Thailand... Rudy.
Here’s a tip for the generator. They don’t like starting in the cold if they don’t have the right weight oil in them. At least. They start easyer if you use the right weight oil for cold climates. If you check the manual for it, you will see a lower weight oil that should be used for cold temps. In this case I do believe it’s 5w-30. Also. If you add a little heat to your fuel to help take out any moisture, it will help with the starting. A few more things that could be causing the hard starting is it needing a new spark plug that is properly gaped. You can’t trust the gap from the factory. They are almost always off. Another posibility is the carb jets could be dirty. It might benefit from a carb cleaning. And lastly. Generators like the higher octagon fuel. So 93 that has no ethanol works best. If you don’t want to add some heat to your fuel. Oh. If you do add heat. Use the red bottle. Not the yellow.
I've been watching your videos for quite a while. Cannot thank you enough. It may sound exaggerated, but your videos feel like small portions of sanity in an increasingly torn world. It is almost meditatively decelerating; I find it very grounding to witness what humans are essentially made for. Observing oneself and appreciating the beauty of how someone gets along with nature and finds happiness in it can be truly uplifting. Also reminds me of a quote from "Into the Wild": "And I also know how important it is in life not necessarily to be strong, but to feel strong. To measure yourself at least once. To find yourself at least once in the most ancient of human conditions."
Delighted to see the cabin in full swing.. Great to see your diet has deviated away from the processed meat . Great home cooking . Best !
Looking forward to seeing the transformation. May I suggest you show us a bit more of the cabin before you get started, maybe a quick tour with an idea of what you might do in each part of the cabin?
Entry room great idea it reduces the cold from the outside and critters safety
when the snow is crunchy..its coldcold crystals breaking on each other
I find this fascinating and really cool 👌
Love to fall asleep to these kind of videos...!
🌙 💤
Thanks for the upload♡
GOD 🙌⛰ Bless!
That's exactly how I make. My French toast 🧇🥞🌭🍗
The mud room idea would an amazing addition.
I can’t help kidding you that I started counting the number of times you say the word amazing in each video. Ha ha ha. Enjoy your videos.
Started watching your videos in hospital with a bad case of COVID cpl years back now watching every upload can't wait for the next fantastic content. Keep on doing what you are doing it's fantastic
Thanks so much. Jay
I would think that the trees that surround your cabin block much of the sheer winds that could come across that open plain outside of the tree line. As I am building my own cabin I will be interested in what you do as well as the thought process. Thank you for sharing your "adventure" with us who enjoy life a little warmer. This is my first time viewing your channel, it just popped up as I scrolled down the page.
My son and I look forward to your videos. You put a lot of effort in them. Your scenery, background music and your activities make your videos all worthwhile. Thank you so much for them.
Great to see you again 🙏 I am on the south shore of Lake Superior 🙏 it's going to be Super Duper cold here -20 to -30 wind-chill for about a week or so.. it's coming from Canada..
Which could mean that you are going to be even colder for you.. You may be able to get use of the ice road.. Clean up at the cabin. Be ❤️🩹 well, Be safe 🙏
Thanks Jay , Appreciate you my friend 🙏🏻 God Bless, stay safe and take care
Hey Jay! Hi from Cornwall. Like the set up. Two of us taking a week off, heading to our little hideaway spot at Lake Superior, big drop expected. I never thought, being an Aussie Expat, I would be camping in minus temps, compared to the heat back home.
Hi Jay, one thing that helps me when my generator is cold and doesn’t want to start is I use the tent propane heater that screws on the disposal propane tank. It works for the snowmobile as well. Heater buddy.
Pumpkin spice has just the right spices for French toast. Love the chicken bake in the stove ❤️🌈🕊🙏🏻💯
Good Luck, Jay, and thanks for letting me enter into your great world and meeting all the women in your life and meeting Mom was a real treat! She looks pretty good for 45😁
Good luck on your cabin!
I've been enjoying the tent videos, but I'm really looking forward to the cabin videos.

Thanks for inviting us to have dinner with you .
Like you said. Your video has a serene vibe. Your place looks dreamy. Love that you use a generator. Not too stone age.
I'm a new subscriber and it's mostly because a big majority of these videos that show guys building or living in these remote cabins are from Russia or Siberia and most of them have very little if any speaking. I like to know what's going on. My Grandfather had a very nice Sugar Shack that he built in Northern Michigan way up in the Maple forest and he use to let us Boy Scouts do winter campouts there and like you said it's lots of fun walking inside and get that big stove going. It could be 10 below and long before morning we were sliding out of our sleeping bags and just sleeping in our long Jon's. I spent many long hours helping my Grandfather make Maple Syrup as a boy. I'm 71 now and only the foundation is still there now. It's nice to see you eating what you cook but as a boy growing up in the 1950s with a Mother and two older sisters that were all great cooks my 3 Brothers and I were lucky if we could boil water without burning it. My Wife of 36 years is also an excellent cook and I have actually mastered the Art of making a Killer Omelet and at least once a Month both my grown Daughters show up just so Daddy can make Omelets. I hope your able to catch some nice Walleye in that lake as it's without a drought the best fish out there. So looking forward to seeing you build that closed in porch.
Siberia is a part of Russia. 😊
It's great that you can finally get to the cabin on your sled!!
Porch, mud room great idea and put some windows. Great shots on closeups of food prep, especially cooking in stove. Would be nice to see trail cameras up to view wildlife. Hope you get more subs.
Thanks Cooking Princes
That cabin is a very nice and interesting long term project. I also like to watch you at your tent location... Very nice set up !!!
First time watching and now I'm following. I love everything about it. Very fun to watch. Now I'm going to go back and watch more.
Beautiful little cabin with tons of potential and as far as your creative mind will take you. I can tell that it's a little bit too cold for me at this stage in my life but I know you are really enjoying it. So peaceful and beautiful. Thanks for sharing.
It's a nice cabin it's very beautiful
Ah , Jay in the morning. Welcome to the cabin life. Waiting for the completion of the improvements. And yes I also have a good feeling when ever you post. You have been a busy man lately. When your finished with the cabin you should get Mom out there again. She’s a sweet lady. You are blessed to have her. Yea I like the Ice road truckers. You haven’t got a worry though you aren’t packing 20 tons across it.
YUMMO,, thanks Jay.. you just gave me an idea what to have for breakfast tomorrow morning 😋 French Toast 😋 stay warm out there 🔥❤
Thank you for sharing your cabin with others.
It's relaxing just watching n listening.
Truley beautiful country n lovely cabin.

Great to see you enjoying the cabin again! Love the idea of an entry room! Those will be fun videos to watch for sure! Take care!
Love your videos Jay, and I appreciate you taking us along with you! Good idea for a mudroom/cold storage! That'd definitely be a good idea. Can't wait to continue seeing what you do with it
Just watching your videos Jay is a relaxing time for me. You've gotta get Crystal down there with you, haven't seen her in a while. Tell we miss her too. Y'all stay safe and warm.
a big hello from southern Germany, Bavaria
Hello from Northern Canada
The cabin really looked frozen. I had to put another blanket on. Made me cold just you and the snow😂. Great video Jay. Tyfs God bless you
God bless you! I hope your cabin becomes what you wish and need. Regards from a Brazilian from Cabo Frio city! I love places like where your cabin is. Beautiful!
Freezing vicariously through your winter adventures! You have lots of work and fun projects ahead. French toast cooked on a wood stove in a cast iron skillet looked amazing. Looking forward to your next video...really soon!
Great to see you're doing well Jay! I was the guy that suggested the little kickstand for your door on your tent house. It's been a while and now that I see your channel again you added 170,000 subs! Super awesome to see your still putting out great content! Glad to be back.
Watching from my off grid cabin in Nova Scotia. Spent a lot of time in the Yukon and NWT. Always a good day when Jay puts a video up!
Hello from the frozen NWT!
This seems like a eating show in a cabin in the Woods. I can dig it!
Love the idea of that front entryway!!!! 👍👍👍When we were putting up our 1850's log cabin/home in Northwest Wisconsin in 2018, it was -32F and I was outside on the table saw cutting trim boards... That was a bit chilly... LoL That entryway is a great winter project!!

I loved watching this video about the cabin. I kept thinking how much my father would have loved a place like this. We had an old cabin in Colorado and it was wonderful. Enjoy your serenity.
Can't wait to watch the renovations you have planned for the cabin.😊
So much planning, list making .. great that you live in the now.. warming cabin… every moment a treasure
Enclosing the porch is a great idea! Just a thought, what about screening in the top half and building heavy shutters to close them off to the elements, that way you can sit on the porch in the spring, summer and fall enjoying looking out over the landscape, especially if it's raining. Storage and a porch all in one room. So many possibilities. Watching you eat the French toast made me hungry again and I just got through eating...lol. Looking forward to your next video!
Your videos are always honest and true. Thankyou for sharing your good fortune. Keep them coming.
Building the porch is a great idea in my mind. Another great video.
Very cozy log house, so warm
I am learning so much from you about how to cook in one pot! Thank you so very much.
A big porch is a great idea will come in handy for sure. Thanks for the video!
Thanks JJJ
Love watching your videos... definently dream country up there ! Thanks. Alan in 🇨🇱
Hi Jay the aerial footage is awesome, dinner looks delicious, can't wait to see what you and Crystal do to the cabin, stay safe and warm
Omg, wasn’t expecting a chef.
My first time watching, absolutely beautiful. I'm a snow lover. Looking forward to your upcoming videos
always be happy..
i love you my friend ❤
Love watching when you are in your cabin looking forward to see you fix it up❤until your next adventure stay warm stay healthy and god bless my friend 🙏❤️✌🏼
Hello Jay! I love your videos and am excited to see how you and Crystal make the cabin yours!
Love the cabin videos. Use a light duty ratchet strap across the top of the sled to keep the boards from coming loose. The weight in sled usually pushed the sides apart and the plywood just falls out of the slots. A pool noodle cut in half on top of plywood helps with the cover chafing also.
Have a great one. Cant wait for the next one.
Awesome job where is this?
A mud room will be awesome, can also store some wood out of the elements in there too....looking forward to watching how it comes out
Thanks! I'm really looking forward to seeing what you do with the cabin. But I also love watching you survive in the canvas tent when it's -40 outside. (Brrrrr!!!) Camping in the RMS tent(s), too. It's all fantastic!
Love you cabin Jay and love watching your videos. Excited to see what you do with the cabin. The porch or mud room sounds like a great ideal. A little strawberry preserves spread on top of the french toast would put it over the top. 😀. Been watching you channel for a while. I don’t usually comment much but always a thumbs up. Take care and see you on your next video.
Jay goes, mmmm ohhh mmmm aaah mmmm, and before you know it, I'm drooling over what he's eating again...😂
