Ten Chi Jin being a box of grenades you grab from for the duration is a fantastic idea.
I kinda like this bc even as you’re going through the game as “ninja” with said teachers, the fact we *began* with thief/rogue techniques should show in how we fight, so having other thieves of the series in our movements is great.

Yeah, add different job stones that are functionally the same job but visually completely different. I'd say give us the ability to transmog the stones with these new ones but I'm not sure that would work.
Hell they could add them as drops or rewards from fitting bosses or vendors and stuff, but add a restriction so you can only equip them if you already have whatever class they're for unlocked.
@@TheDaxter11 I mean, it could be a simple quest thing, no need to make it complicated. Think like SMN/SCH at level 30 being able to do that little miniquest at the Arcanists' Guild and learning egi-glamour. Making it some hyper exclusive thing would utterly defeat the point. But they've already shown with egi-glamour they can make modifications (at least minor ones) without issue.
@@SubduedRadical Yeah but it would be more interesting and rewarding instead of just being able to do it right off the bat. Plus I'd kill to get more summoner egi customisation as rewards from anything. I wanna replace Garuda with Bismarck.
Imagine a rare drop from Hade's (not extreme) for Black Mage that changes the theme of BLM from BLM to a sorcerer of eld or something.
Imagine a drop from Odin (not that Square give a single iota of a fuck about him in 14 with how dirty he was done) that changes the theme of DRK or SAM into, well, Odin themed. Or it could be added to the vendor that you use the world boss versions drop item to exchange.
I can however see Thief/Pilferer being a side quest you get at the Rogue's guild, maybe something about taking the skills you learned from your time as a ninja and using them to become a better Rogue or something.
@@TheDaxter11 I dunno. I think my thing is I like accessibility. If they're going to go through all the effort to make a really cool skill customization system, it shouldn't be exclusive for "bragging rights" of only some people. And I say this as a person that does clear some hard content, I've never been a fan of gating stuff like this unless it's behind stuff that everyone can do on their own if they want (e.g. Criterion solo runs)
Not to mention I believe it would start off way less in depth than this. The first iteration would probably be something like letting you glam some abilities to different versions of them, like WHM being able to use the Stone 1/2/3/4/Glare animation in place of Glare 3 if they wanted to do so, or PLD being able to use Rage of Halone instead of Royal Authority. I would bet that'd be the way they'd first roll something like this out. And that seems way more like the egi-glamour where you just do a quick little quest or something to unlock it.
Not to mention some wouldn't really make sense. If anything, Thief should be EASIER to get than NIN. Which is easier, tossing a few grenades or learning how to channel ninja magics and precise hand signs and Aetherial energies in combat?
For my part, I just want more customization options, period. If it starts with different cast animations for lower ranks of spells, then so be it (and I suspect that's where it would start), and then expand on from there to full on alternate Job animations...though I honestly doubt they'll ever do that since it'll be a lot of work for them (oddly, less than adding new Jobs, though, since they don't have to balance anything, they're just using the exact same abilities and tuning with different animations, so it should be EASIER on dev resources...)

Same I loved rouge. but then It went ninja.. and I lost all care for the class and even stopped playing the story missions for it.
Same. I loved rogue when I played WoW, so picked it up when I started playing. I was super disappointed when I found out about ninja.
Replacing the Mudras with preparing grenades and getting bunny hat as blowing yourself up is incredibly clever! Fantastic redesign!

always wanted that Rogue story quest, we went from Rogue to ninja but... idk just felt like thieves were left out of the equation :3
Technically the Rogues are thieves, just reformed thieves. Plus it's not the first time in the series that Thief and Ninja have been connected, that goes back to the very first game. But hopefully Viper will fill the Thief niche that has been missing from 14.
Its the sound effects for me, they actually sound impactful which I love
you are really really good at making the vfx minimalistic while being beautiful and full of flavor. The vfx is clean and not oversaturated or excessive compared to other mods i see.
As a longtime ninja main I love this! The changes to the abilities and animations are all such cool replacements, and the change to using Mix over the mudras is just brilliant. I also wanna say, you strike the absolute PERFECT balance between having cool effects without being too loud visually. You're easily my favorite modder and your work always seems to set a new bar and never disappoints!

This video made me cry. I don't know if it's all the estrogen, or what.. But this mod means a lot to me.
I have long wanted to pick up rogue, because I'm just so in love with thieves and rogues - but have NEVER done so, because I hate how the entire rogue identity is basically erased and replaced with Ninja - which is a completely different archetype.
I grew up stealing bikes with my father, and listening to his exploits of him stealing 7 car radios in a single night as a teen. I picked up graffiti in my teens, and would roam the streets at night looking for the best place for a throwup rather than go to school early on the next day. In general I always had a knack for subterfuge ever since I was a young boy. I was also really into martial arts and would attend MANY tournaments national and international. I was incredibly dirty (though never brutal or intentionally trying to hurt someone physically) in how I won fights - often times using the very rules of the sport against opponents I had no business beating. My highschool had to completely redo their rules and regulations cause I used all the little holes in it to do whatever I wanted... and between sports and graffiti there was little time for school. School lead three separate expulsion processes against me but was never able to kick me out. I graduated and went to university anyway.
I'm also the kind of person to take just about anything apart just for the sake of wanting to understand how it works. If a TV stops working, I will absolutely take it apart and try to fix it myself.. or use parts of it to build something else entirely. I also once smuggled a 50 cm Dagger I had bought abroad through customs in carry-on baggage on a Flight from Baku to Vienna in 2008 lmao. Unsurprisingly, growing up I loved videogames and heavily identified with the thief/rogue subgenre and their characters. I LOVED robin hood, and I'm a socialist with heavy communist undertones to this day.
Any time I can choose an archtype, it's rogue/thief. Cause that's who I am and always have been at my core. To this day people playing board games with me mention how I will ALWAYS try to find holes in the rules and try to break the game, or play it in a fashion it was NOT supposed to be played.
I am now in my thirties, transitioning (breaking the rules in a way - again) and ABSOLUTELY going to pick up Rogue, NOT Ninja.

The production value on all of this, even the demonstration video, is stellar - I've never super vibed with ninja baseline, so this is an absolute treat for me, fantastic job!

This is AMAZING and singlehandedly fixed my greatest problem with Ninja. I understand going from Thief to Ninja, but you'd think you'd keep SOME of the fluff at least! This perfectly blends the two, with some eastern ninja martial arts and scoundrel rogue thief stuff.

I love how this is more than just thief, it's also stuff like item user and similar jobs. Really gives this a great identity.
First of all: I love this Mod! It feels so much better to play Ninja with those animations; really thank you for that!
Now with Dawntrail being released, I noticed a single bug this mod brings with it: Pictomancers lose their casting-animation for "Fire in Red" and those three motif-skills. I always wondered while doing MSQ, why Picto's aren't doing anything and just standing there... now I know why ^^"
Hope it gets fixed in the near future, so that my Hroth can be a fully thief again, soon.
But still: Keep up the great work :D

this is simply amazing. I was already blown away from that early access which had some of the smoothest animation swap I've seen yet, the final one is perfect! That LB3 reminds me of Fate's Jack the Ripper Noble Phantasm, [Maria the Ripper]. Only difference is that the LB doesn't take you to misty London at night

I'm not familiar with thieves in Final Fantasy stories- XIV was the first FF game that I'd played, but I picked up the Rogue class because I've played Rogues in other MMOs and RPGs and such, and they're my favourite class type to play. It turning into Ninja stung, was really hoping to keep with a Rogue-type Thief or Assassin style- this may just bring my love for the job as a whole back!! Absolutely fantastic work!!

I've been using this mod for a little while and I'm in *love*. I've only one thing that slightly annoys me and it's that the running cycle of Hrothgar/Roe looks just incredibly silly. Wish it was in a good way but it's only distracting so I disabled that bit (thanks for the option!)

Honestly, thematically this is really good. The Mix from Rikku, the Grand Lethal from Zidane. The only thing I wish was that it was maybe a little flashier in some areas. But other than that, it's great.

Tall Males (Midlander, Miqo'te, Elezen, Au Ra, Viera) already have a mod for Locke's outfit 1:1. Both the in-game version and the Amano artwork version.
This is awesome! I used it a bit now and I love it! I just wish I could use rogue animations with it but also with the flip jump.
These animations are fantastic! My only hope is that this mod will have a future build with replacement names/icons/descriptions to stay consistent with your changes.

i really like how you're showing the most un-ninja glamours with this demo and it works perfectly, that was my biggest issue with ninja, it leaned way too hard into the ninja look up to the running and sprinting

When i first started playing the game, I wanted to be a rogue. and made a maurder just to unlock them faster. When i got level 30 i just didn't like the theme anymore. but this looks amazing.
