  • A perfect summer morning in Newquay filmed in 4K...
Starting early, and with the tide not too low we explore Newquay Harbour. This is the oldest part of the town, where it all began, and in my opinion one of the prettiest spots in Newquay.
After checking out the boats, the little beach and an over-friendly seagull we take to the air for some drone views of Newquay's spectacular beaches (8:18). This string of beaches, separated by rocky bluffs all join together when the tide is out to form nearly 2 miles of unbroken sand.
The beach closest to the harbour is Towan Beach (9:21), home to the Blue Reef Aquarium and also a house on a pinnacle of rock connected to the mainland by a suspension bridge.
Next along is Great Western Beach (10:38). It isn't particularly big, or that westerly, but is in fact named after the hotel set on the cliffs above. This is where the tunnel at the base of the cliffs leads.
The following beach is Tolcarne (14:54) with its caves and rockpools, and just round the corner is the bizarrely-named Lusty Glaze beach (17:00).
From here we take a stroll through Newquay town centre (18:33) along Bank Street and then on to Fore Street. It was pretty early so the town was only just coming to life - fast forward a few hours and it would be a different scene.
The last top was Fistral beach (25:14). Set on the far westerly side of Newquay, beyond Towan Head this is the resorts premiere beach. A generous stretch of unbroken sand, Fistral faces straight into the Atlantic swells making it something of a mecca for surfers. It was pretty breezy on this day, but there wasn't much in the way of surf.

Love these seagulls. I know they may be difficult but they remind me I'm by the sea. And if you mix their cries with the noise of the sea, it's just perfect.

I agree they sound lovely at the right time and right place... just not outside my bedroom window at 4am 🙉

I keep forgetting, my work address has been Fistral beach for the last 25 years. It's great at certain times of the year. I would never go back up country.

It came out a bit quiet. It's there - you just need to crank it up a bit.

Who needs it? Too much noise today.
