I've always wondered how to do gems and sequins in SD; this is such a perfect series! easy to understand, and you definetly feel that you can apply the knowledge for your own projects!^^

Throughout the course, I was most interested in the beautiful shimmer of light inside the crystals, but apart from the red color in the basecolor, you didn’t do anything there, how is it possible in your preview?
I wanna bake this to colormap!

You could bake it in the color if you want to! Just add soft shapes with lighter red... But then it's not going to dynamically react to light

really good so far. However I have run into an issue where my jemstones are not aligning with with the gaps between the other elements, like they do in the tutorial. Is there something I have missed that ensures the patterns have uniform scalling and spacing between each other ?

Hey! I'm not sure what you mean by "they are not aligning", do you mean that the individual stones are not aligning in the radial setup? If so you need to look into your Splatter Circular properties. If you mean that they are not aligning in the final placement it's probably because you accidentally move them manually in the 2D transform... in any case you can download the project file to look into those specific nodes and compare with what you did. Let me know if you're still stuck!

If the problem is the gaps between your gemstones and the outlines around the gemstones, you might have to modify the levels. Levels Out High (the white slider at the bottom) will modify the height of your gem/outline. Levels In Low (the upper black slider) will adjust the size of the gems/outlines and Level In Mid (the upper middle slider) will sort of change the shape, making it more or less rounded (if that makes sense).

Why don't you use a high blend? Repeating the tutorial, the result was that the white stitches are brighter than the elements that lie on top of the fabric. I solved this problem by replacing the regular blend with a high blend and adjusting the mixing

You can do both, I generally use the height blend when I need something very subtle and precise, since this trim sits pretty high on top of the fabric a simple blend works well enough :)
