The dial had a chipped tile on it @0:45. Other than that, I'm not crazy about it. I want to love Zelos, but for some reason almost all of their watches have something that puts their pieces just outside my strike zone. I hope I can find the perfect Zelos one of these days.
I agree, Kevin. They get close for me and then they add a final 'touch' that just makes me cringe. Haha. Not hating on anyone who loves Zelos. Too creative for me. I'd just love to see some classic designs in some new colors, personally. No more emerald green, ocean blue, and bright orange. I want some pastels and/or some textured dials done well. Tritium in more watches too. Useful shit, please.
I love Zelos (have a few in my collection), but I can see my wife wearing this more than myself. It looks like they’ve tried to make it more masculine with the strap, but it ends up not matching the watch. Thanks for sharing your thoughts Gary.
Not really a fan of this dial. I’d go for the teal or salmon dial if I could pull off a small 37mm case size. Also, I feel there’s a mismatch between the watch and strap/buckle. For me the strap is more of a field / gada style.
I got one and generally like Zelos watches (about a third of my collection is Zelos and my 2 most frequently worn watches are Zelos tool watches) but they definitely dropped the ball on the strap choice with this watch. Thankfully it's an easy swap which was part of their justification for it. Strap should have tapered more aggressively, possibly been a different color entirely, and had a completely different buckle that matched the watch. That said I'll just use the strap on a different watch. Lack of hacking and automatic rotor don't bother me due to the style of watch, though a micro rotor would be pretty cool. Lume will be missed but again, style of watch doesn't demand lume. Overall it feels like a step down from the v1 but the dial makes up for it
I agree with you. I’m ordered a Delug dress strap for it and I’m gonna to use that Horween strap on my Eagle 2. That Eagle 2 strap is perfect for my Marathon Navigator steel. That’s how I justify my collection to the wife, lol
I feel like eveyone only reviews Zelos when they give out free ones to the reviewer all at once, makes me not interested in them. They do interesting things, but the way they do their marketing is a bit annoying.
They have sent me watches to review outside of the launch period. The same thing happens with almost all brands...Seiko launches a new watch, people make content on it. Phoibos launches a new watch people make content in it. People are interested in new releases and brands want them to be seen by watch enthusiasts.
@@ilikewatches I just meant, when evey channel makes the same review on the same watch for like a week straight on my feed, I feel like I shouldn't care, because it's too much of an ad. Maybe it's just me. I'll watch your review on it, but I know I won't be buying it.
I like it but can't be bothered playing the game of trying to jump in the second they launch before they sell out. As soon as buying becomes a chore I lose interest.
That doesn't happen so much with Zelos releases anymore. Precisely because they were all selling out too quickly, Zelos started producing larger batches. Meaning that with most releases, there are still plenty left even several days after launch.
Not interested in this watch. Too much bling. But, im sure there is someone, maybe quite a few people, who would like a cathedral window on their watch face.
@@ilikewatches Thanks for responding and the great review. I can't see the Jody review on his channel at all - which is weird as I watched that too. BTW I bought one of these and when my wife asks I'm blaming you :-)
@@thewatchfulmagpie Jody didn't make a review video of this specific watch. Rather, he made a video of the best microbrands recently, and Zelos was on of the ones he mentioned.
Nice review Gary. I love Zelos but for me, these new designs are a rare miss from them.- and I’m a sucker for sub dials. Overly polished case, indices/hands that are hard to make out, and too much of the same design on the dial with little contrast to break up monotony. But as always to each his own. Cheers!
Well, I really do like Zelos. But this watch is perhaps a bit too dressy for me to justify the spending of the money asked. There are simply too few occasions for me to wear this watch. Besides, I'm not sure whether I like that "semi-sterile" look and whether the strap choices suit the watch, which is an easy fix of course.
So sick of Zelos. Their overly shiny almost plastic like indices just don't do it for me. They all look so cheap. Also, judged by the market, many people apparently don't keep their Zelos, cuz they're all over 2nd hand markets. I'm good!
Have you personally handled a Zelos before? I ask because in hand they are absolutely amazing pieces. This particular watch is on the dressier side and polishing is a staple of the style. This design is actually an exception compared to the typical stuff they put out. The reason they're on the second hand market a lot is because they're hard to get your hands on and are ripe for flippers to hunt the most limited pieces to resell them. Not because people don't like or want them. Zelos also has a vibrant trading community and out of all microbrands out there I'm willing to bet they're one of the few people collect like Pokemon cards 😂 It's not uncommon for Zelos owners to have more than one of them. It's also not uncommon for people to search for a particular release because they are very limited. Zelos as a brand is constantly evolving. They never release the same watches twice and even reissues are in different colorways, finishes and materials to previous versions of the same models. Their designs run the entire gamut of watchmaking at this point.
The salmon colored one is my favourite, nice looker's.cheers for the review.

I’m not a dress watch guy but this one is beautiful. Although, I think I prefer the tooliness of their version 1. Thanks!

that looks great in daylight much more colourful
That's a sweet looking dial!
A beautiful looking dial Gary! Although I’m not in the hunt for a dress watch, damn this model is difficult not to consider!🥰
Beautiful!
Direct shout out to JOMW in the title! Are you patching things up with Jody? Two of the best in YT watch community should really be friends by now…

Is it anything like the Ginza dial Alpinist?🤩
I’m getting a stained glass church vibe with this.
Super nice, but way to blingy for me. Not something that really goes well with jeans and a Smith and Wesson T shirt.
As good as it is, I just don't like it much

Awesome, but prefer no small seconds.
Tantalum was sold out under 2 minutes, lol!
It looks a bit camp to me. Shrink it a little and it's a perfect ladies watch.

Suddenly everyone shills for Zelos. Seems every TH-camr got a free one.
Are you getting the new SN0109 SM Gilt Coke GMT? I'm so keen for your review of it @@ilikewatches
@@gilbertoflores7397I agree. Every watch reviewer I follow had Zelos on channel last week. Pumped up marketing stuff
Looks sharp!
Jeeez, that sub-dial. Kills it for me.

Well as the video stated it's already been launched and is available. There was no jumping in the second it launched.

I'd rather have had a Miyota 9000 series automatic?
Did Jody pull his video - I can't find it anymore on his channel? Anyone know?

Rare miss for you. I think it is a refreshing change. It is about damn time for Zelos to have a proper classy shiny dressy watch.

It looks like a Church stained glass window, ugly, so no.
You friends with Jody ?
Lying to his viewers ?
the strap is very basic for the watch
Too small, 40 i would be all in. Make 2 sizes Zelos !
Very dressy, like a Fears watch.

Not wild about this watch at all. Zelos very over hyped brand tbh.
Don’t like 37 mm.
