    Enjoyed the chat as always. A couple of comments - large numbers of top sportsman across the world love playing golf. Fenway are a multi-sports organisation, can you imagine the power of a Liverpool player or Red Sox hero pushing the enjoyment of Golf - thats massive compared with old pictures of Jack, Arnold and Gary....PIF? Limited..
    Forget money, gender or majors - watch the last 4 holes of the LPGA tournament at the weekend - good, bad, ugly, magnificent - that's what get us excited because WE mainly watch golf.....

      @@ThinkingManShowso appreciate your insight. A couple questions if I may. It seems you are pro LIV and anti-PGA Tour. That’s fine, your opinion. But a question for you then.
      Is it Greg’s goal to destroy the PGA TOUR entirely? It seems so. I mean if you basically take 40 out of the best 50 golfers to LIV than PGAT is dead. But are there enough people that care about LIV to watch or to get corporate sponsors? I don’t know any 50-75 year olds that watch LIV. Twenty somethings don’t watch TV golf. Team golf will never work. 54 hole shotguns will never appeal to golf fans. So what is the end game? Destroy the PGA TOUR and have no interest in the game. That’s what I think would happen. How does LIV make money. And nobody is gonna watch the PGAT For Blander Xander and Cantlay. I just don’t see the end game. Maybe I’m missing something.Would love to hear your opinion.

      That's a big topic Mac. Here's a quick reply:
      Norman has said without deviation for the past 30 years his goal is a "world super tour" where only the best play against each other in a limited number of events. The best from any tour, anywhere. This super tour would not replace a player's home tour but rather have a place along side it.
      PGA Tour audience is shrinking due to demographics and the rise of digital media among younger generations. Younger people play video games on their phones, tablets and game consoles with much of their leisure time. When not on video games, they are on TH-cam, Netflix, Amazon Prime and other streaming options. Live sports is no longer a first or even second choice for many. This drains audience from all sports but golf as a much smaller sport is particularly vulnerable. Soccer is one bright spot where youth still play and therefore watch pro teams - hence the massive Saudi investment in pro soccer. Pro golf needs a global fan base and a format that appeals to younger audiences. Not an easy task but necessary. In addition to being a "super tour" in concept, LIV is experimenting trial and error with how to engage younger potential fans around the world.
      We don't believe the goal of PIF via LIV Golf is to takeover pro golf. Quite the opposite. The PIF wants to join the pro golf system but sees that the current PGA Tour is not nearly global enough for the PIF to accomplish it's economic goals therefore they want to expand pro golf outside the US using LIV as that vehicle. What are the Saudi goals then: to move the Saudi economy and culture closer to The West and get more access to better investment deals via corporate connections gained through the pro golf "ecosystem". Golf has a unique and prominent place in the corporate world and PIF as a venture capital entity wants more access to that network of business elites.

      @@ThinkingManShow I appreciate your opinions and I agree with many of your points on golf aging out and getting younger viewers. But if so, why didn’t golf/LIV take off on TH-cam then. And I think Norman yes has wanted a world tour for 30 years and is still bitter that Jack and Arnie told him forget it. Global schmobal, I’ve had that word shoved down my throat for 30 years in business. I’m in a 20 person golf league, not one person watches LIV. Paul McGinley said nobody in Ireland watches LIV. If two tours coexist, so be it. Tiger wants his legacy PGA. Tiger still has power. Greg is not well liked. By anybody. The Saudis of course want to get in with American business. It sounds like SSG said no. It’s obviously gotten petty and ugly. Taking Rahm was dirty pool. Tbh, I ain’t got much time left. I want to watch good golf on history venues not in Dubai or Japan. Let these fidget spinner kids figure out golf media when I’m dead. Cause they are not watching now. 40% of college graduates live at home in mommy’s basement watching Netflix and getting high. Not my problem. Get a job and pay for cable like everyone else.

    • @ThinkingManShow
      @ThinkingManShow  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Cam, thank you for tuning in. Why so snarky? It's ok to debate and disagree.
      Ignorance? We are not aware that people announce what they're going to do before they do it; so we analyze and predict. Jay and the PGAT kept The Framework Agreement secret from their own player members however we predicted a JV as early as Dec 10, 2022 (show: th-cam.com/video/3Jxd_l0nBb8/w-d-xo.html).
      We have always said that SSG was going to happen as it makes sense for multiple reasons. We say that in this current show and please go back and watch any previous show for that analysis.
      Jay "bashing". Jay is incompetent as a CEO and should be fired. Many PGAT players agree with us.
      We said in July 2023 that Tiger joined the Board to kill the Deal with PIF (show: th-cam.com/video/jClZ_y0TFs8/w-d-xo.html). Perhaps Tiger and his team are having more success than we anticipated. We'll see over time. The situation is constantly changing.
      BTeam has said that a deal with PIF will happen and that SSG wants their capital protected by deep pocket PIF rather than the opposite where PIF funds LIV for as long as they care to and continues to take players; especially top amateurs who can choose between the PGA Tour minor league (not signature event status) or a LIV contract with signing bonus and mentoring from Major winners and teammates.
