Real or percieved drop in volume, this video was incredibly helpful to remedy this problem to individual taste. I love how the R 9 trim poti can be used to boost the signal and create a more gainy tremolo sound. Nice work.
Very helpful video. Thanks! I had a TR-2 years and years ago with terrible volume drop. Decided to pick up a newer one the other day. It's a 2017. And even though it's supposed to be better, there was still a pretty significant drop in perceived volume that I did not like. I opened it up once but didn't see that trimpot wheel. Then watched your video and opened it up again and found it. So thanks! Interestingly enough, I had to turn my wheel CW to gain it up, not CCW. Maybe they changed the way they wired this in at some point, or maybe they are all different. Either way, trial and error is the way to set it properly for your tastes anyway. You just saved me from getting rid of this TR-2. Thanks again!
I always thought tremolo volume drop was really about perception. Perceived or not, it still sounds a bit quieter when engaged. Nice to know about that trim pot! I actually like that boosty distortion sound; could be useful (and sneaky).
This video was super helpful! Luckily my tr-2 doesn't have a noticable volume drop while engaged, but I do have an echobrain by TC Electronic that started to drop my volume while in my effects loop. Hopefully it has an R9! Thanks again!
@@marcalving1753 Hey no problem! :) its actually not nearly as bad as the gauss tape echo, but it still could be better. I personally prefer the prophet digital delay since it's not nearly as bad, but you cant beat the price that's for sure
My TR-2 was made in December 1997 and the board is very different with no R9 volume control! Yours is a newer revised model from 2010 onwards I reckon.
Note: This circuit board is the so-called "new" layout. Just opened my TR-2 (which I got used, no S/N, so I can't date it), and sure enough, the layout is different, and there is nothing in the R9 position that could be adjusted in any way.
the same thing happens to me with my new Mooer Trelicopter. at full depth there is a huge volume drop. it’s very disappointing. does somebody know if there’s a way to adjust it without adding a boost pedal after it?

Thank you! I did it and it works perfect! Great video!!
I wonder if that pot youre turning effects the buffer that boss pedals have
Incredible! My tr2 sounds perfect now! Can't thank you enough!!

Mine is a fairly new one but has more than one board and I can't seem to find the trimpot inside.

You are correct. But you can buy a mod kit to do the keeley mod and install better components and a volume pot so you can turn it to whatever you like
Thanks... I just got one and I did notice a slight drop... Not bad but now I know R9.
Will help..
Very good!
So summarizing, I just have to turn that thing, just a little to the left?
Unfortunately, mine does not have the R9 screw adjustment
Thank you so much. My tr2 have a good sound now.😃🤩👍👍👍👍🙏🙏🙏🙏

Yeah saw a TR2 made in 1997 that I almost bought, so it doesn't have the trim pot yeah?
Lifesaver, thank you!
Is this specific for every TR2 models? Do the first models made in 1997 have this?
I’m not 100% sure, but other commenters here suggest earlier models don’t have the pot to adjust.
Thanks for the walk-through. Most important question: What position did you end up setting the pot?
Just experimented until I felt it was right for me

Going to have to open my PH3 Phaser, as that suffers a significant drop.
I dont have the wheel thing in my TR2...
I will try this. Thank you. LES
Now it has too much trem
I just did a comparison with the tr2 and the Strymon Flint. I can confirm that the vilume drop is real. It doesn't happen with the Flint.
My Ibanez Ts-9 strarted having the same issue....volume drops while engaging the pedal..hope it can be fixed.
how can i solfe this volume drop whitout r9 pot?
Gabriel Miklobusec not sure, unfortunately
you broke it
Video is not playing the important part lol
