In the 90s as a teen I'd tune into the late shows and SNL for the music guests. I had filled a couple 2-hr VHS tapes with only music appearances, so many of the gems on this channel. Watching these amazing live performances was often so fresh and genuine. This tune is stellar with Glen Phillips on those vocals, comes across so honest. I probably wore out the VHS tape on that segment for this song, one of my favorites :) Great upload !
I had just moved to New Mexico a few months before this aired and it's making me sad reminding me of being a kid with my whole life ahead of me and starting what turned out to be the best 4 years of my life living out there
THANK YOU, i still got that album in my shelf. In the nineties i bought every record from Toad (my favorites are dulcinea, Fear and Coil). I like them a lot, but 'til youtube era (because i don't live in USA) i couldn't see any live performance at all.
The Badlees are much less known because they were a band that "almost almost almost" made it... getting some big regional airplay, and finally getting a record deal with a debut that sold, I think about 1/4M copies. But after a couple of years of fame, they never quite cracked the national market and faded into obscurity. Look them up. The hit that broke them out was "Angeline Is Coming Home". There's even a quasi comedy docu drama movie about their story called "All In Time".
Saw them live around this time and they did "Fall Down" with an extended jam.....you wouldn't have called them vanilla by any sense of the word.....they rocked the joint and the crowd went wild......
Mostly vanilla 😋🍦, but these ones are different flavours: 'All Right' th-cam.com/video/J3T8CO_ek4o/w-d-xo.html, 'Inside' th-cam.com/video/k5badtWiup4/w-d-xo.html, 'Begin' th-cam.com/video/k5badtWiup4/w-d-xo.html, and 'Pray Your Gods' th-cam.com/video/n7hiDaN3NH8/w-d-xo.html
+Steven Call His name is Randy Guss. Don't call him a hobbit because that's not polite. He was born with a physical disorder called "Osteogenesis Imperfecta" which translated in English is "Imperfect Osteogenesis". Therefore he is not very tall in height and he obviously looks different than the average human being. At least he is capable of playing drums despite his disability, therefore he can have a music career. ~Dutch
Honestly, i like them but this is not really a song that grabs me. I will be giving it a thumbs down. Tears are flowing from me, it's hard but i have to be un-pc in every way possible.
One of the best singer out there
Agreed. I always thought this guy had one of the best singing voices in the business.

I love these guys. Always have and always will.

That's very heartwarming...l'm a 90's kid, so this is my joy...
They sound so good live! Amazing.
I always loved that Paul would play with the bands. Never trying to steal the moment, you can tell he just loves to play.
on my 20th birthday in 96....a great time for music to grow up
19 myself then. Great music
Yup I was 21 then,much better
Wow 1996😃. Love this band 👏👏👏👏❤️❤️❤️❤️🎶🎶🎶.
Such a good song writer and singer.
Good memories. I wish we could all stay in our 20s forever.
How cool was that !! This song is one of my all time favorites❤❤❤❤❤
Great band, excellent singer, beautiful melodies, insightful lyrics, tight band with excellent guitar solos, one of the best bands ever!
Paul is giving it hell on the keyboard. Great song from a depressing decade
This decade is more depressing, we just have happier bubble gum music today
Depressing decade? The 90s were the peak of the last 200 years. Every genre of music was amazing in the 90s. People had soul.
What can you say about this band, these musicians? Truly and utterly brilliant!
This song takes me back to memories which no other song takes me to.
Glenn Philipps, Tod Nichols, Dean Dining and Randy Gus! Hope i still got their names right. From Santa Barbara, CA.:) Fan here!!
I appreciate how you spelled each member's name wrong. ;)
@@jessehoyt wow..every one wrong..that takes talent
Very very underrated band

I've got a few more clips to share in the coming weeks ;)
What's for afters? I cross my fingers. I know they performed in this same "USTV" show Fall Down from Dulcinea and Come Down from Coil.
Man, Randy still has a ton of hair!!! Where have the years gone....
Sign/sound of the times Band right here! 90's when not all that much went too bad.

Wait, this was 27 years ago???
January 5 1996 , but thanks for uploading 👍
excelet song best band!!
This record is mega overlooked, and oddly flawless
Love love this song ❣️
On one episode of Friends I have heard this song and love it.
Excellent live performance! A true classic song!
I love how Paul Shaffer is in the back totally getting into the music as he's playing.
Even though he sucks as a musician and ruins most of the performances by other bands when they played on the show.
OSDCrusher Lol.
Paul Shaffer is a clout chaser to the highest degree
Paul adds another dimension to the bands music...hecis a hell of a musician..
Give the man his props
Lol that's cause it was a great song 😂
Yes...that's live. Hard to believe. Tight group
Gosh, was it really twenty-six years ago? I remember watching David Letterman and he was so young lol.
They may look like a bunch of dorks but they are one kick ass band!
Did they write this?
I remember this episode!!!!
Me coloquem numa máquina do tempo pra voltar nesta época
If you like Toad, listen to the Badlees. They're both so amazing. So is Gun Blossoms.
Do you mean the Gin Blossoms? Not sure about Badlees.. never heard of them.
@@foltzenlogel maybe he meant the Bodlees?

Was the singer forced to wear shoes?
Oh the good ol days
LISTEN TO THAT APPLAUSE ......
Who is that woman in the beginning of the clip?
Jennifer Aniston
no way in hell.
Her name is Bridget Hall. Don't know anything else about her except that she is an actress.
Jennifer Aniston?! Lol. Um. No. She is, as the other commenter stated, model-actress Bridget Hall.
swimsuit model
I do not know but its for comings
I MISS YOU DAVE LETTERMAN!
really adore glen phillips
When people actually sang live.
Who is that next to Letterman? Babe!!!
Cool
A club banger
burrito supreme, with pee wee herman and angela merkel on drums🤣
I prefer Glenn Philipps barefoot~
It needs more cowbell
Dave referring them as Rock N Roll is kind of funny. Admittedly I like this tune, but the have to be one of the most vanilla bands ever created.
Saw them live around this time and they did "Fall Down" with an extended jam.....you wouldn't have called them vanilla by any sense of the word.....they rocked the joint and the crowd went wild......
Vanilla??? As in derogatory???
Mam you are dead wrong

they're not as vanilla as you think!
Vanilla is a classic taste and be around forever
