[Stereo feed] The group perform, early in their career, on late night USTV. Slight flutter in the picture due to a tracking error that couldn't be corrected.
The vocals in this song so underrated. When Glen picks it up at "it won't matter now" and the harmony between Glen and Todd and Dean's background vocals toward the end. It's so good.
Saw them live in Vancouver when they were hitting it big.....Hootie and the Blowfish opened for them. One of the best concerts Ive seen, and they remain one of my favourite bands. Love to see them again.
I loved these guys back in the 90's and their songs still hold up to this day. Plus they look like regular guys who just play music instead of rock superstars.
One of the most underrated bands of the nineties. When so many bands were hopping on the grunge band wagon Toad was paving the way for alternative folk rock. They are iconic.
@@n.presley917 I was employed at Tower Records weekend nights at the uptown Manhattan store while working on my Ph.D. dissertation from the City University of New York. I was fortunate enough to meet Michael Caine, Laurie Anderson, Ron Wood, Carl Bernstein, and other celebrites. Owner Russ Solomon would occasionally frequent the store and chat with us. Working there was truly a great experience. Good luck to you, N. Presley.
Completely forgot Dennis Miller had a late night talk show in the early 90s! And am I strange to say that my 41 year old self is totally crushing on Glen???
Um im 39 and feeling the same. They were on the radio but i never saw videos and they never passed thru the sw 🇺🇸. What skin! What a nose! What straight hair! Dang it i miss my youth! 😆
“Nothing's so cold As closing the heart when all we need Is to free the soul But we wouldn't be that brave, I know.” Oh man am I ever living that with her right now.
This sounds so much better than the way they do it now. They play it in a lower key now. I don’t understand why they do that. It’s not like the original key requires him to sing that high anyway.
That's what made it cool dude. no one copied each other then. Everyone just did their thing and everyone was cool. No one like you to tell everyone to get back in line.
the best way to survive these hard days take refuge in Nostalgia
Agreed.
Mmm yeah !
Yes
Well said. Perfect!
wait'll you get to 2020
Man look at that stage, those clothes, and the style. I miss those 90s night shows
I'm going to skip revisiting Dennis Miller's Lethal Weapon hair, though.
Well said. Yes cooler and simpler times! 😕
Me too.
brilliant performance..nothing beats the 90's alt rock..
Playing from the heart. Dudes didn’t care how they were “supposed” to dress or “act”. Just loved playing music...
for real. First time seeing and hearing this live performance, you can really feel the genuine emotion.
Playing from the heart to the heart.
Agreed! One of the few bands that I loved when I was very young and still listen to, to this very day!!!
Exactly
I'm still that way. The 90's left me but I never left the 90's. 😁
Their drummer just rocks. The right amount and nothing more.
Yep, always thought that also.
Always loved his drumming very cool guy
Randy Guss' playing always was right for the band.....personally, I dont think they sound as good with the replacement drummers they've used.....
Yup, smoove
@@fairfielddm Restrained to perfection

On top of that, the amazing camera angle at 3:01
“ dynamics “
Come on people let's teach these kids what really great music was and will always be ☝️
Agreed!
0:04 LOL I remember when the CDs were packaged in those long boxes.
I saw Toad and Hootie in the same show in 1993 in Charleston, IL. One of the best concerts in my life. I was 21 back then.
This song still to this day touches my fuckin soul!!
I turned 16 in 1992 - take me back to the simpler time such as this.
Saw them in Boston in the 90’s. Without a doubt the most underrated band in the history of bands.
Miss the 90s. Luv this song and group. ❤❤❤
He can nail those vocals.
Saw them live in Vancouver when they were hitting it big.....Hootie and the Blowfish opened for them. One of the best concerts Ive seen, and they remain one of my favourite bands. Love to see them again.
@A S Sucks to hear that!! Underrated band of the '90s.
The Best
I saw that same tour in San Diego 🤟🏼
Best version of this song I've heard so far. The acoustic guitar cleans it up. Love it
Four nerdy young guys... they were great... just great.
Such a good and relaxing song.
This song and Linger are my all time favorite songs. And I know thousands of rock songs because I follow Billboard Modern Rock chart since 1988.
Last night I just saw Mini Trees cover Linger during their set opening for TTWS!
Such a beautiful song.
When singers sang live.
When music was great. MMGA!!!
Make Music Great Again!!!!
I am 😊
um they still sing live.
I loved these guys back in the 90's and their songs still hold up to this day. Plus they look like regular guys who just play music instead of rock superstars.
Loved the 90s ❤️. I just remember doing homework in my room Q101 and alternative music 🙌🙌
Have always loved Toad. Going to see them in October! Can't wait!
3:21 The note he hits n his bashful smile get me every time. So good!
I really miss the 90s
What would the 90's be without Dennis Miller and Toad the Wet Sprocket!!
One of the most underrated bands of the nineties. When so many bands were hopping on the grunge band wagon Toad was paving the way for alternative folk rock. They are iconic.
Flashback from my high school days came back Goosebumps 😍
I always loved this song. I never realized it's about as old as I am. Only 2mos. older than it lol.
I really don’t know how we go from something as wonderful as this to Nicki “Mange”
yep, some version of that complaint every decade or two
YeAh, neither do I. 90's music was amazing. The crap coming out now sucks. No heart, no feelings, no emotion!
2020! All i want is to feel this way!
I love this band ..just got my raised nissan pickup and me and my friend doea would play this the loudest..such innocence and great times..
Great band I was 12 when I first hear this i'm so proud I grow up in this music.
This was on mix-tape I made for the '93 deployment on a US Fast Attack Submarine.
Brings back good memories
The 1990s produced such great music. There were so many great baritone singers in the 1990s.
This song just gets better every time 😊👏❤️
Ikr?
Thank you. This is nice..
They performed this single three times on television as far as i know.
i miss 90's
I do to I wish I had more fun as a kid in the 90's
Sad to hear that. 😞 I wanna time travel to that era but in this age and body i have now.
OH I hear you we just have to make peace with the past.
same :)
Kathy Murguia ikr
I watched these guys perform at an in-store gig at NYC's uptown Tower Records in 1987.
wow, they barely even had the first album out by then, iirc.
i miss Tower. last one in Seattle shut down around 2000 i think

Glen and band, if I knew I was going to be stranded on a deserted island and could only take one song to listen to, it would be this one.
This is pure early early 90s. (Two early's) and it's the best!
Amazing! 90's were the best🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
dang... :) still lovin this :)
I searched for this song for years back when I was a kid in the 90s before you could just google it. It would come on the radio and I’d lose my mind
I wish there was a revival of alternative music. It’s my favorite music
Had a Barenaked Ladies, Toad, Wallflowers show lost to Covid last year, never rescheduled unfortunately for my area..
2024 Holy Hell this song is still swinging!
I love Toad, I saw them play live with the Gin Blossoms back in the day, good times
Wow a sighting of Glenn with shoes on rare indeed!!!
This was 4 days before my 6th birthday 🙌🏻 I am so damn proud to have grown up experiencing this music
Amazingly beautiful
Much love to the band and love you gave us all.
Such a great song.
just brilliant.

He is so young he's almost unrecognizable compared to today.
92? Wow, I had to use my fingers to count that far back.Still sounds great in 2018!
Ya good memories..House of Pain, Kris Kross, Bethoven, Batman Returns, Resovoir Dogs, Boyz 2 Men..the list goes on for that year.
one of my favorite
Have always loved this song.
Going to see them here in Ohio on July 20 2021...little excited gin blossoms will be there as well!!!👌🤟
Glenn Phillips is the 90's unsung hero.....
I was in these times.....genx
Brilliant!
Very nice one of my fav songs :D
Great drummer.
Great performance. 👏
September 2018, still lovin' it
The 90's was Heaven if you'are a teen, back then.
“Nothing's so cold
As closing the heart when all we need
Is to free the soul
But we wouldn't be that brave, I know.”
Oh man am I ever living that with her right now.
Man they are good live
Great band and great song . I used to love to watch Dennis Miller
26 years ago!!!!!!!
ooof! ;)
so young.
This sounds so much better than the way they do it now. They play it in a lower key now. I don’t understand why they do that. It’s not like the original key requires him to sing that high anyway.
I just noticed that too
glen can't sing that high anymore, he had vocal surgery
Take it from me, our voices deepen as we get older, as we age (sorry to say or admit).
Love this song really wanted to hear that note tho he just cut it off 😔 oh well back to the video then lol
Rip it!!!!
Dennis Miller and Toad the Wet Sprocket. A Santa Barbara connection there.
Good song
❤❤❤
I cant believe how young Glen Phillips looks here.....
I LIKE BEING WITH ALL THE GOOD PEOPLE AND BEING WITH GOD ETERNALLY FOREVER IN HEAVEN THAT IS ALL I EVER WANT. GOOD SONG! 👍 🙂 🎶🎵
Steven Spielberg is a great drummer
Hahhahaahaa
3do game box on the hands of the crazy dude
The Ultimate Gen X song.
Still here.
I think the first I heard of them was on the Mark and Brian show on KLOS...
Very 90's
Dennis Miller's hair was so outdated even by 1992
Ha ha!
He just wasn’t funny. I can see why he doesn’t have a show anymore.
And how do you think he got famous?
That's what made it cool dude. no one copied each other then. Everyone just did their thing and everyone was cool. No one like you to tell everyone to get back in line.
@A S Let's Go Brandon!
Glen Phillips not in his customary "bare feet onstage" mode.
Just so good. Just Soo damn good. December 2019
By God this song is gospel!🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Lembra R.E.M.
Yes those are guitars and actual drums. Guess what? They are really singing.
Rod Tomas!:-7
Still listening Dec 2020 😊
Alright dude, I'm willing to pay money. Do you have Goo Goo Dolls playing Iris on Rose O'Donnell ? !
No, sorry. I don't recall taping any Rosie shows.
90"s2
Just think there's strange people out there and they can't wait for the I. Phone. 20
Glen helped John Mayer get started
What show was this?
The Dennis Miller Show. Formerly a cast member of SNL, amongst other gigs.
DOES ANYONE KNOW THE MEANING BEHIND THEIR NAME?
The name came from a Monty Python skit.
