I can't express enough how therapeutic it was to listen to all your personal journeys. Before the pandemic, I lived in NYC, commuting via subway to work every single day, enjoying a comfortable financial status with a six-figure salary in the fashion industry. However, since relocating back to my home state, I've been relying on savings and battling severe depression due to the constant fear of financial instability.
Recently, as I embarked on starting my own design business and reviewed my finances, I had a profound realization. Despite earning less than my previous full-time NYC job, being self-employed means that my success is entirely in my hands. Hearing one of you mention a similar revelation resonated deeply with me-realizing that by spending less time fretting over financial concerns and more time actively building my business, I could potentially surpass my previous income levels.
I just wanted to take a moment to share this with all of you.

Matt -- Go write that book! Don't wait for the perfect time b/c it will never come along. Set aside 30 mins and write it piece by piece. Good luck!

I applaud you for talking about something that worries all of us, not just queer people, because we also have to deal with money, work, stress, taxes, family… not everything is gay apps and RuPaul. Looking forward to the next one!

I learned the value of (earning) money from an early part in my life, starting with a newspaper delivery route. My parents also instilled the notion of saving a part of what I earn as well, which I did. As I got older, I took advantage of employers’ matching savings plans as well as retirement accounts. Later, a good friend of mine introduced me to investing in the financial markets, which I took to fairly easily, and continue to do. Like Michael mentions, money can buy you freedom, to do the things you want. I have also gotten into philanthropy about causes I believe in. It’s a very good feeling to know you’re helping out a cause you believe in. I have heard that God expects more from those who have been blessed with more, and that’s a reassuring notion to me. Finally, I believe that financial literacy should be taught in the public schools, from an early age, so people can learn the true value of earned money.

Thank you for sharing as you have.🙏💞
I grew up believing "there is always too much month at the end of the money!"😵‍💫 i am pleased to share, this no longer is my reality. 🙏
I, too, would spend a portion of my million dollar s on investing in myself/my Practice, creating a paid vacation/celebration with those who stood behind me every step of my way. Investing the remaining principle in profitable markets using the profits to give back to the local charities that i believe in.
