Premium Pine boards for the shelves
Finish Nailer (we used 1 1/2” nails)
Stain
Poly finish
Paint

Dana, when the old gentleman that built our house made our pantry he made the cross piece on the front like you did but it is probably 3-4 inches wide and hangs down far enough to made it difficult to get bigger boxes and oatmeal containers under without leaning them in to put them on the shelf.😱🙄 I am so jelly over yours!! And the doors are so better now. I don’t like the ones on a track because the just don’t give full access to the area. The baskets are great too but I think two more of each size will give you plenty to work with and they look so good with the shelves.
I was making sure that large boxes would still fit which is why we went with 1x2 instead of a thicker board! Thanks so much for watching! ❤️

Really lovely, its nice that you have a clever husband too with all the tools, hand made is always the best. Well I'm gonna be honest I'm very jealous LOLOLOL I've always wanted a pantry, I can dream LOL I have the dog food bin too but mine has a photo of a dog on the front, oh and mine has a broken lid because one of my dogs is too clever for her own good, she undid the clip and pulled the lid off LOLOL thats collies for you........ thank you Dana and hubby it was lovely to watch xxx

I seen people cover those wire shelves with the thick poster board from the dollar store with a lip over the front and then put contact paper on it that looks like wood and they really do look like wood shelves.

Hi Dana! What a difference! We have those wire shelves in the laundry room and I hate them too! Our pantry has some sort of wood shelving but after 25 years they are scuffed as well. One of my projects coming up is to paint the pantry in the next couple of weeks. When I painted the baseboards in there when we did our flooring, I was so surprised at how scuffed the walls were. I'm anxious to at least get that done and then I'll have to see if painting the shelves is an option. Those would be a pain since they will have to be propped up or we will have to wait to paint one side, then the other. But once you have the mess, you might as well go for it. We also have those bifold doors....ugh....but not sure my hubby would want to deal with it. Once I decide on what color I want to paint the kitchen cabinets, I'll decide on what color I want to do that door. I may just paint it the same white as the base boards. This is where I wish I had unlimited funds and I'd let someone else do it!😂

I hate those cheapie wire shelves (I have them, too!) and your makeover is a fantastic idea! Love how it looks and one day when you go to sell, I am sure some other woman is going to be swooning over those shelves, it will be a wonderful sales update!

Love what you have done with your pantry. I agree with you about the wire shelves. So want to replace mine as well. They are OK for a clothing closet but not a pantry. Now I know I am not the only one. Wish I could change the door but I know I can't. Know your pantry will be beautiful.

Pantry looks amazing. Great idea for the doors. I have those awful wire shelves too and will be figuring out how to fix it up. We are in a rental apt. So what I do has to be undone. when we move out someday .👍❤️

its looks great! your 'extreme small" pantry is still more than our house has. it literally does not have a pantry. very little cabinetry and that holds mostly dishes with a few dry goods. my father-in-law built a book case style shelving set next to the master bedroom door for a pantry and it gets out of order so easily! my mother in law (we live with her) is bad about not decanting products like flour, sugar, etc into the nice jars i bought and the groceries get put away wherever. its time for me to go reorganize again. 🙃
That pantry came out so great. I hear ya about those builder wire shelves, I slowly replaced most of mine to soiled shelves was well. Cannot wait to see your organized pantry reveal. Love you and your handy hubby working together, and High five.
Wow what a difference, I dislike the wire shelving too. I know that a woman didnt invent them, 😂😂.
I love how the new shelves turned out. Having it open up like french doors is much easier, I am sure. And they wont come off track 😵 dislike that sliding bifold way either. I cant wait now till you finish it up, I know it will be beautiful and much easier to see what you need to buy and not be wasteful.
