Hey thanks for the videos, they are great. Clear up some basics for me please. Lets say I have a panel which goes 100 meters and its connected to my access point. Then lets say I have a laptop which can travel 10 meters. Does that mean at 109 meters I have a connection, because there is a 1 meter overlap in the signals? Or do you need the same technology on each side so 100 meter panel and then another 100m panel connected to the laptop? So in other words, can I got 1 mile away from my house and point one of these at my house and pick up the standard access point, or would I need to also have a panel on the house pointing back at me.
Using two panels is always a much better solution. However, depending on the environment, power and distance you may be able to get away with just one panel.

May i have a question to you? I am planning to purchase an outdoor WIFI tube adapter with 8dBi antenna. I live in a plain area on country side with 1 floor (here and there 2 floor) family houses with backyard areas each. and i want to scan the ambient WIFI networks in neighborhood for experimentations. How high should i mount my WIFI antenna? should i mount at 2 meters high on the wall of garage or on the roof of garage at aprox. 3,5 meters high from the ground? I have heard that WIFI antennas are not meant to be mounted high because of the radiation pattern. So i dont know if 3,5 meters is high or not. and if you say that 3,5m is better, can i install it on a metal rod above a dish antenna for satellite receiver or will it be interfering with my WIFI antenna? or better to prepare its own place on the roof of garage a bit away from the dish? Thank you so much for helping me :)

I have an Orbi mesh wifi router system in my house, but want to set up a simple repeater at the window to receive from the mesh network and rebroadcast in a narrow direction out the window to another location. Are you aware of any wifi repeaters/extenders which would work with one of your 15 DBI antennas? This would require, it seems, 1) that the extender have a *removable* antenna, OR 2) that the extender have an ethernet OUTPUT to rebroadcast the wifi signal it is receiving from the home router nearby to an external router I can then plug into it, which would have removable antennas to go to one of your antennas. I'm worried the extender will have lousy transmit power, however, as the dbi only specifies *directionality*, but NOT broadcasting power, and I'd like good broadcasting power. Any recommended devices to look into are appreciated. Thank you.
There seems to be a gap in the discussion about wifi antennas on the site. I am one of those who live in an area with many people, mostly students, running their computers, mobile phones and streaming services over WiFi with omnidirectional antennas. Are there practical steps, using thought, cooperation and directional antennas to reduce the interference problems?
Yes - by changing the polarization of the antennas and the frequency to 5GHz when possible. Less devices are using 5Ghz and there are more channels. So that's a quick fix for reducing interference.
At what point (distance) will I have to start worrying whether my wireless device can send a strong enough signal for the antenna to pick up? This is assuming I am still at a distance that my wire device can pick up the signal transmitted by the antenna.

I wanted to thank you because YOU had mentioned in one of your videos something that was crucial to receiving a great wifi signal. So what was the crucial info? Here's the story. I was trying to get the most powerful signal I could with a panel antenna. Somewhere along the lines while modifying the panel antenna the signal became weaker to the point where I could no longer get on the internet. I was connected but couldn't connect to websites. So what was the problem? While modifying the antenna I used a longer cable from the panel antenna to the wifi adapter. Somewhere in one of your videos you mention there's a lot of signal loss when you use a coax cable between your antenna and your wifi adapter. THIS IS SOOOO TRUE!!! When I found out that little piece of info I went home ( I was using burger king's wifi ) I grabbed the wifi panel antenna and eliminated the 3 and a half foot wifi cable all together. I then used adapter connector and about two inches of the wire used in directional antennas. HUGE DIFFERENCE!!! So for anyone and everyone reading this who has a weak signal and is using a panel antenna get your wifi adapter card as close to the antenna as possible using the least amount of wiring as possible then watch what happens! I mounted my wifi adapter ( with tape ) directly to the antenna. Now my wifi is working better than ever! So a Big THANK YOU goes out to SimpleWiFi a simple little trick made a HUGE DIFFERENCE!!!
