      There are many factors in teaching yourself to speak Japanese . One place I found which succeeds in merging these is the Japanese Magic Method (google it if you're interested) without a doubt the no.1 remedy that I've heard of. Check out all the extraordinary info .

    Chinese is hard. Yes. Each word stands for multiple meanings in fact.
    The only way to really improve is to learn VOCABULARY. Compared to many other languages, the grammar is quite simple. Subject-Verb-Object. That’s all that’s necessary. Vocab is hard to remember, but once you get them in your head, you WILL be able to speak Chinese properly.
    Good luck everybody!

    • @marychristie4815
      @marychristie4815 6 ปีที่แล้ว +29

      @@yourdaddyonceler1239 thats not really how it works lol, Korean no longer uses the Hanja script system which used the Chinese characters or sino-korean. King Sejong The Great and his scholars changed the writing system completely in the 15th century as the country had high rates of illiteracy and he thought it would be better if the system was simpler, hence why they changed it from a logography to a segmental script. Japanese still uses a script related to Chinese but learning Chinese would only help you in writing it because naturally they're pronounced differently, have different meanings, and in some cases are written differently.

    2:30 There is a good thing in Chinese: You'll never need to care about person or tense. For example, whatever you're using "am" "is" or "are". They all equal to 是(shì). So when you speak "I am a student" "You are a student" and "He is a student" in Chinese. You don't need to care about how it changes. You just need to say "I 'shi' a student" "You 'shi' a student" and "He 'shi' a student".
    Update: There are 5 words for third person singular in Chinese.
    "他", to express "he",
    "她", to express "she",
    "它", to express "it",
    "祂", to express gods or something sacred,
    "牠", to express livestocks.
    They are all read as "ta". You dont need to care about it when speaking. If you dont know ta"s gender you can just say ta ... .

    My brother studied languages at the Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center in California. The pace of study was intense. Students had to master the language course in 36-64 weeks. Psychologically it was very difficult, but fortunately he was helped by Yuriy Ivantsiv's book "Polyglot Notes. Practical tips for learning foreign languages”. The book " Polyglot Notes" became a desk book for my brother, because it has answers to all the problems that any student of a foreign language has to face. Thanks to the author of the channel for this interesting video! Good luck to everyone who studies a foreign language and wants to realize their full potential!

    The highest hydrance is the focus on getting everything perfect.
    If you could not keep up, just relax until the next phrase.
    Language learning is not linear and takes time, but worst than not practicing is to practice under stress.
    Watch and study as relaxed as you can.

      Don't worry so much about perfection, just write down phrases and practice to remember how characters and words are sounded.. the more you use a language the better you'll get at pronouncing it more correctly over time.. Chinese speakers don't speak English well most Chinese tend to simplify sentences in broken English and don't sound words exactly right, yet we can understand them still.. so it is with Chinese if you can at least say the words even imperfectly Chinese people will understand you still..
      I learned Ni Hao many years ago just by continually repeating it and now it's just stuck. And that really impresses Chinese people when you can at least greet them in their language.
      I also remembered that x words and names in Chinese which are common have a 'shee' sound. President Xi = President She. Anglicise the Chinese spelling in your head to Anglician phonetics and Chinese starts to get a whole lot easier.

      Sí, todas esas sibilantes del Mandarín te dejan mareado, y ni hablar de los tonos... Y si hablamos de cómo suena, el japonés es mucho más eufónico.
      Un profe de lingüística me dijo que el castellano y el japonés eran lenguas "ametralladora": takatakataka.
      Por lo poco que se por el momento, la gramática china es más simple que la del japonés, y hasta que del inglés. El japonés parece bastante complicado, lleno de prefijos y sufijos y reglas.
      Pero seguro se va a ir complicando cuando sepa más.

      Yes, +Jennifer Thorpe. The vowels AIUEO are pronounced almost the same as in spanish, and the same for other groups of characters like ka, ga, ta, da, sa, na, pa, ba, etc. I mean, just by reading "Anata no namae wa?" or "Gakko ni kuruma de ikimashita" (in romaji of course), an average spanish speaker would pronounce it almost as it is correctly pronounced in japanese...

    Lemme put y’all on something:
    (Ignore the “e” it’s just the things on top)
    ē means say it neutrally/monotone
    é means say it like a question
    ê (imagine it upside down) means say it with a dip like a curve
    è means say it like sternly or low key angrily
    This is important cus the Chinese language is based off of tones and depending on how you say a certain thing can influence what it actually means

    To me, The shortest way to learn Chinese is following:
    1. Learn pinyins
    2. Learn basic strokes
    3. Learn how to decompose characters
    4. Learn Chinese radicals
    5. Learn tones.
    6. Start HSK-1
    This channel can help you a lot for first five points and to some extent 6th one as it's going on. The important of all these is point 3,decomposition of characters. If you don't know how to decompose, you'll feel extreme difficulties while proceeding.

    This is Mandarin the official language of China. But it is not the official language of Hong Kong which is Cantonese. Many people confuse the two and try to speak Mandarin to Cantonese speakers which may prompt an indifferent reply or an annoyed one. The many times when Hong Kong officials tried to replace Cantonese with Mandarin in Hong Kong, for schools, it caused an uproar. People where generally not open to having their mother tongue replaced.
    Of the two Mandarin is generally more useful because it is more widely spoken outside of Hong Kong.
    Many people in the UK know Cantonese if they are from Hong Kong. The newer immigrants, not from Hong Kong, speak a version of Mandarin with their regional accent.

    • @kynchan3332
      @kynchan3332 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hong Kong people tend to have a colloquial term for Chinese people from the mainland calling them tai luk yun - big land person. It is not very accurate to say tai luk because it does not specify where in China. Not that many Hong Kong people care because there is them and there is anyone from outside Hong Kong.
      (Some newer immigrants from mainland China have had to learn Cantonese if working at Cantonese takeaways. If the boss is from Hong Kong it is likely the Mandarin speaker employee will learn some Cantonese.)

    • @kynchan3332
      @kynchan3332 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      In regards to written language Cantonese uses traditional writing (more complicated) which has more brush strokes but Mandarin is simplified so certain words look very empty. The upside is the Cantonese reader will have a greater likelihood of recognizing many simplified words but the Mandarin speaker may have much more trouble trying to decode the traditional writing.
      Simplified writing is easier to learn and many mainland Chinese became literate using simplified writing.
      There is a little stigma with just knowing the simplified as the traditional word users tend to think of the simplified as uneducated and stupid.

    • @frechjo
      @frechjo 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      About the writing system, I saw someone claim the opposite: that in practice, many people from mainland China can recognize traditional characters better than the other way around. I have no clue, but I've seen some arguments about it that didn't seem to resolve.
      With things like 憂 vs 忧, I don't think it's easy to guess either way anyway, so unless you study some of the other system you probably can't do too well?
      As for Cantonese and Mandarin, the divide between writing systems is not as sharp. Some Cantonese speakers from Guandong and other places use simplified characters, and some Mandarin speakers from Hong Kong, Taiwan and other places use traditional characters.
      But it seems for the majority it is as you said, Cantonese->traditional; Mandarin->simplified.

      I feel like Duolingo helps a lot more than this... well at least for me. Having the basic understandings of like "I" "You" "We" and a lot of other stuff let me have a better understanding on what was going on in the video. And I'm in the same boat as all you guys xD love my Chinese boy

    fun fact chinese is the nine we hardest language to learn just learn korean it's easy
    those little symbols btw are the ways you sound the word
    so it's like this
    - soft and boring
    / high pitch
    v you go like this WoO
    \ say it with force
    so some words are the same spelling that's why we have those

      I`ve came across a ranking stating the Mandarin being the #1 hardest language for English-based students so maybe it comes to the language you find natural to you
      But no, I don`t believe Mandarin being THAT hard to learn to get by casually
