A case of one hand not knowing what the other is doing in the case of The Acolyte. Why should we believe the promises of a pack of liars using JJ Abrams level marketing to push less than mediocre effort in making a TV show?
They say it cost 180M... But that's surely not counting the reshoots. Factor those in and the earlier reported 400M seems about right so ofc they will make another season. Gotta put caviar on the table somehow.

"We don't have enough information." This is a hallmark of Disney Star Wars, and it has poisoned so much of what they do. They don't understand how to just tell a story, only withhold information and plot points until people are frustrated and angry, or they're the type of person that literally thinks very little of what's going on and goes "heh, i love Star Wars" and gives a thumbs up.

We know Disney Star Wars is dead, but Disney can’t admit it to themselves. For them to finally understand that it’s not racist and sexist backlash, we actually need Season 2 of Leslye Headland’s “The Acolyte”. I hope it gets an even bigger budget, is worse than before, and ruins Yoda so bad that nobody can get away with defending it. That’s what it will take to get Disney to clean house and decanonize their Star Wars projects.

That inept KK chose a clown to make a Star Wars show and all we got was a circus. The audacity of these hacks to make a mockery of George Lucas's creation is outright malicious. Now his beloved characters like Yoda and Plagueis have been bastardised. Lesley in May even went as far as to say there would be 0 cameos from the films or TV shows. I guess the reality check exposing her inability to create any coherent story or her own characters hit so hard she had to resort to those cameos and stolen dialogue lines from OT and prequels just to save face. What a disservice to a beloved franchise.

  • @reasonexperts
    @reasonexperts 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

my main concern with the Acolyte is this: you introduce new characters to tell a story yet you kill them off in the first few episodes and then go back track on how we got here. This is where I lost interest into the main characters because I already knew they would die to begin with. Venestra (the whip lady) is utterly boring as a character and I can't really connect with her. So therefor, there is no connection, so I lost connection with the show. Same goes with the 2 female leads, one day they are angry the other moment they are with the Jedi. They swing all sides depending on the mood their in. Kind of like they are having their period. It makes no sense.
Remember the good old movies? There are different character with different character traits. Because of that, people could connect with one or more persons. Nowadays you get characters that feel like a cut out of a cardboard and no-one cares.
Thanx disney for not making character driven stories.

An issue is, Headland will be in charge of season 2, and who has confidence that will turn out well? Is it more likely to cause more damage than good? I'd say yes, it is more likely to completely shred Star Wars to bits.
Try to get like Denis Villeneuve (e.g., amazing director for dark plot-based stories) to do a season 2 and fix this with real writers who ***truly*** understand the Star Wars universe **and it's rules**, not just be aware of characters and story lines. Then, maybe you have a chance.
Problem is that Headland (and others) have not accepted the RULES of how Star Wars works. That there is ACTUALLY a good and a bad. That Jedi ARE better at knowing good compared to normal people. That Jedi aren't emotional and illogical, and they are clearly transparent with each other and care little about themselves as a singular entity. That Sith don't care what is truly good or bad, just what is better for them. That there are not many force-sensitive people. That it is GENETIC. That the force is not a thread or magic. Get back to Lucas Star Wars of being just a bit more capable than regular people (but much wiser) vs magicians with stupid powers and without *DECADES* of training, if ever even possible (no Mary Sues who exist just so young people identify with the main characters - that was never an issue with the originals!). Unless you accept these rules, Disney will ALWAYS fail.

I could film the entire second season of The Acolyte for like $100,000. Its easy. It starts with Squid Game Sol waking up in a bed, but not wearing Jedi robes. I'm sure that budget for $180 million was because, that's what they budgeted for; a second season. It's either already been filmed or in production. It was always their plan. This show is rewriting deconstructing what came before it and rewriting lore. They don't care if they contradict previous Canon or Legends(EU). They want to retcon what George Lucas has created. They have an agenda, and a narrative. The goal is not to entertain you, they don't care that they sunk money into failed projects. I won't spell it out for you. If you know, you know. This article is an attempt to rally fans behind the idea that an Acolyte S2 could be done, and well, maybe fix S1. It is shite idea for a shite show. Disney needs to let this one finish it's journey down the personal human waste pod. Re-evaluate their ideas for getting new fans while, I don't know, not alienating the old ones. Maybe not jumping to wild insults and accusations because the largest and most loyal fanbase in cinematic history is pointing out the actual truth that your show is shite.
The only winning idea that can save SW now is to hire writers who understand the four unbreakable rules of the franchise:
1 The force is not magic, It's energy that can be used either for good or bad.
2 None of the characters EVER needs to use the restroom.
3 Characters do not get nude and/or have sex. (they can flirt, they can kiss but no more)
    And most importantly,
4 The Jedi are the freaking good guys. and the Sith are bad.

First off, very few have wasted their time looking at this trash fire, and most of them just to make hilarious review, secondly, the only way to save something from this landslide is to give it the "Willow treatment", remove every reference to it, forget it and remove it entirely from canon to clean the stains from Aki Mundi and Yoda.

    Re-writing The Acolyte
To contrast with the Prequels, the Jedi in The Acolyte should have been portrayed as Heroes. For instance, the Jedi visit another planet and are treated like rock stars, where the citizens of the planet come to them for healing, wisdom, favors, etc.. It’s a Civic age where the Jedi are like the soldiers returning from World War II and treated as the heroes they are, like royalty. And the Jedi should have been shown as living up to this ideal as well - with triumphs where they capture the imagination of the galaxy, achieving the impossible, brokering deals that are good for all, helping the disadvantaged and working for the good of the galaxy and society. An age when honor and your word meant something, and a deal could be done with a handshake, where the Jedi work together with governments with a shared ambition for cleaning up and rebuilding the outer galaxy. A time when institutions worked, and worked for the good of the whole. The Jedi are grand, expansive and energetic. The Jedi’s power would be in their heroism. And in hiding, the Sith, in secret, also operate, but using subterfuge and slight ways to accomplish their goals, not bringing attention to themselves, but also not engaging directly with the civic minded galaxy. The Sith, being Darth Tenebrous and Plagueis, would be cunning, hard-to-fool pragmatists. The galaxy would have been like the world that George grew up in, where there were more do-gooders than you could count, and people were much more engaged. This would be the story where Darth Tenebrous and a young Hego Damask make their way in the otherwise peaceful civic-minded galaxy, Hego being on a road to becoming the Dark Lord of the Sith. The Acolyte series could have begun with the Jedi as heroes in the High Republic - still in a high, but waning - and as ‘highs’ can only be ‘high’ for so long, so does Darth Tenebrous sense more opportunities for the Sith in coming years. And the finale of the first series could have had Plagueis finally killing Tenebrous, becoming the Dark Lord in place of his master, contrasting his dark ascension against a galaxy of heroic Jedi.

I agree with a lot of it. Solo was interesting. I actually liked the acting from everyone but Solo, but don't ask me what the story was about, I can't remember much. If they did a Season 2, they need to have someone else write it, and in episode 1, just undo everything in Season 1, in which case, just delete it. Say "Hey, we aren't really proud of $180 when only a few thousand of you even liked it, so we're doing a brand new story, written by less complicated people."

An acolyte season 2 is a win/win for real star wars fans... we won't consider it canon, it will waste millions of dollars, it will provide hours of entertainment for fans and creators as we rag on the show, and ultimately, it will further kill Disney Star Wars.

its "somehow Palpatine returned" all over again. The Acolyte is basiclly that and now they need the 2nd season to solve the open plot threads and fix the canon they damaged. Its so great that Star wars is now only about filling gaps. How well this worked with Palpatine returning somehow? there are like 5 Shows and at least 1 movie that retcons just this one line. Its just unsatisfying to watch as a fan prior Disney i know the EU so i do not need to wait for a worse version of what came before.

It is suggested by more than a few people commenting on YT, that KK allegedly has compromising details on the execs, so cannot be fired, and if she wants a Season 2 who knows, it might happen. I hope not! This story can go nowhere good. The show is made by people who don't understand Star Wars and are lacking in talent.

A second season wouldn't make sense from a business perspective. This had a production cost(excluding marketing) of 180 million. From the Nielsen numbers we know that the first 2 episodes had about 6 million viewers. Even if they kept those numbers till the end (they didn't) and every one of those viewers specifically subscribed to D+ for the Acolyte (doubt it) it would still not break even.
Now count the amount of hate watchers and people who kept watching because they thought: "I've come this far, might as well finish it", who historically don't watch further seasons of those shows, and it would be the worst financial decision you could make.
If there ends up being a second season it would be very telling that Lucasfilm (and Disney) no longer care about making money.

Sadly, the Acolyte is far from being "cancelled". Disney has dug their DEI hole so deep, they can't get out, they can't course correct, and they won't admit that their business model failed. Never forget that Leslye Headland is Kennedy's heir apparent and DEI disciple. Season 2 will be put on the back burner until the dust settles and then will be renewed. Or it will be repackaged under another Star Wars Disney+ series. Headland has also said that the next Star Wars project she wants to massacre is a live version of KOTOR. Also don't forget with Carbonite freezing tech already established in Star Wars, Osha / Mae most likely will be in the Rey film. 😾😾😾😾😾

awesome, this has been great roasting season one. and it has united the fans, the true star wars fans under one banner. the anti woke banner like nothing else could. I would love to see Disney pour another 180 million into a bottomless pit of mindless terrible writing. I hope they get headcase to do the writing. this show was hysterical. seeing how bad the writing was and how it made no sense, it made me think that this was actually a shot at making a satirical star wars comedy. I mean the last time I laughed so hard at a space comedy it was spaceballs. they should make the space gopher force sensitive. that little guy swinging a light saber would be fabulous.
