He sees the benefit of sharing the dharma teachings he knows as a long time practitioner and translator of these esoteric texts which offer an alternative view to living life. We are so fortunate to hear the teachings in this manner because his passion is authentic transmission of the dharma. Much gratitude ❤
The gifts James brings us through his teachings are boundless and completely inexpressible as is my gratitude. After 64 years of Buddhist meditation practice, thanks to your generosity, I find I know nothing. How fortunate! Gassho 🙏🏼
The teaching on the Lama Khyenno prayer was one of the most powerful and helpful dharma teachings I've ever heard. Thank you James for passing this on to us.
When I was at a Rinzai Zen monastery they had me sit with extreme pain and my legs would be so asleep when the meditation ended I had no sensation below the knee. They place a lot of emphasis on no movement at all and to just 'be' the pain. I learned to sit with excruciating pain. I sit Soto Zen now, and they are much more relaxed about following your body's signals and moving if you have to. Hearing the story at 4:27:00 brought this back to me. I could have really damaged my legs sitting like I did. I think sitting with mild pain can be useful, but only to a point. You should always listen to your body.
If you have relaxation you have integration, that why in dzogchen in particular we focus on relax and release. We're not trying to build up better self, to build up clarity, to build up insight, we're allowing the carapace, the shell of obscurity, of self referential closedness to fall away, to thin and dissolve until the openness, which was always there, is clear for us. We have been obscured in a shell, the shell is formed by the creatures that make shells by their own secretions. This is us, we secrete thoughts, feelings, sensations and they adhere to us, they are sticky, this is attachment - James Low
Thank you so much for this James and channel fairies if there are any. I can't say how much I appreciate it. I have been studying Buddhism for a while now, mainly theravada but for the last while I have been deep into zen and the last few months into Dzogchen. It's much harder to break into I have found and having Teachers such as yourself who say it plainly and for everyone is invaluable. I would love to join a retreat if one comes up near me so I'm keeping an eye on your website. I wish you a long life. If anyone has any other teachers they could recommend I would appreciate it. I have found Lama Lena is great so far. Thanks my friends.

We have to see the power of ideas. Everything is an idea. Ignorance is an idea. Being unaware of your own ground is because you are over aware of ideas. You fall in love with ideas. You hold onto ideas and it is as if the idea will keep you afloat - James Low
By Pedro; Short refuge prayer SANG DJE TCHÖ DANG TSOG TCHI TCHOG NAM LA DJANG TCHUB BAR DU DAG NI TCHAB SU TCHI To the excellent Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha, I go for refuge until enlightenment; DAG GUI DJIN SOG DJI PE SOD NAM TCHI DRO LA PEN TCHIR SANG DJE DRUB PAR SHOG By the merit of giving and the rest, May I attain buddhahood for the sake of all beings.
That why in the dzogchen tradition and the mahamudra they say 'just be cheerful', which sounds a bit like stupid advice but whatever happens don't worry, don't take it too seriously. Because what it's doing it's speaking to us on an ordinary level, when we can’t meditate and we feel really fucked up and we're lost and we're confused at least put on a smile, because if you smile other people will smile and it will cheer you up. Because if you go into the depths, if you start cutting groove into yourself and the record repeats and repeats you get a trapped feeling. 'I don't know what to do, I'm stuck' and that's a terrible situation, how could you be stuck when everything is impermanent and dynamic and moving - James Low
'I don't have to perform to meet your expectations' that is a huge, huge freedom. Where we say 'you are free to think of me whatever you like, like me, don't like me, be interested, not be interested, I don't need to think about you'. Why, because my thoughts about you don't reach you. You are not who I think you are. Is that true. Therefore if I am thinking about what you think of me this is called semantic masturbation. It is non-connective, it doesn't produce anything, it's self referential because I don't actually know how you are in this moment and how you would be if you were able to respond openly and easily to how I am as I take myself to be. So this is all saying all these scripts you have learned, all these storylines that have been fed to you in the course of your education in some ways they are pathways of connectivity, they open doors, they allow you to operate in the world but if you take them seriously you become enslaved by what you take to be the expectation of others - James Low
So this is the dharma point of view; who is this person, this one, this me that says I exist, I am like this. So when we look at emptiness we are taking all the qualities that we attribute to ourselves and that we hear and see other people attributing to us and we try to see do they have substance, do they have truth, are they actually defining who I am or is this like children making sandcastles, just piling together moments of possibility into a form which has no essence. Sandcastles always fall apart, the tide comes in washes them away or other children jump onto them, they have no essence, we also have no essence. We are in situations which are held together by so many factors we don't know - James Low
Dear All, could someone tell me which is the chant sang around 1 hour 10 minutes in the video that James refers as “waves” in the ocean…? (Day 2 morning)Thank you 🙏🏻☮️🌅
