And she didnt actually do anything back, she went straight to the principal
I was guilty of bullying when I played football in high school, but I'm a changed man now and I don't pick on the nerds or the weak because that will only lead to Columbine and Virginia Tech type incidents. We alpha males need to protect the weak. It's not good enough just to be narcissistic and focus on getting money and girls, we need to look out for these guys and not drive them over the edge.

I remember telling my mom how weird I thought it was that the school said to resolve conflicts “peacefully and calmly” because I knew that no way you can stop a bully just by asking nicely unless ur very lucky somehow. Then my mom said: Oh if you ever need to in a very specific circumstances when protecting a victim, you can use physical force, I’ll deal with the talking at the office

I will never understand schools who punish kids for defending themselves.
From what teachers have told me, it’s to stop the kid who defended themself going back to school, exaggerating the story, causing a lot of unrest and bullying for the other kid, and overall making a chaotic environment. (Which I disagree with but what say do I have in the system)

One time I defended a kid and the teacher acted like I did the bullying and the bully got away as if he didnt do anything wrong and that was in 3RD GRADE

If I was one of Rebecca's parents, I'd have escalated things until that principal was fired. If Becca hadn't done what she did, Greg might not be with us today, and the school could have faced a massive lawsuit, and possibly even been closed down in the worst case. By standing up to Millie, Becca may very well have saved the jobs of everyone who worked at the school.
Assuming that a lethal fight would have broken out and ruined the school is a bit of a bold claim if you asked me but you kinda have a point.

@@l.psimer6124 Perhaps not a lethal fight...but perhaps something...much worse. Bullying is commonly cited as a reason people make attempts on their own lives, that might be what they were referring to.

I had a reputation at my school as the kid who got in a lot of fights. What that reputation didn't explain was that I ended a lot of fights, I did not pick them. Whenever someone picked on me or bullied me, I fought back. It got me in a lot of trouble, but you know what? After I got that reputation people would rarely pick on me. And those who did would quickly learn why that wasn't a smart Idea. It also helped that my Dad was a lot like your Mom, and had stood with me thick and thin whenever I was involved in a fight.
Really goes to show how bogus school punishments are that the victim of a bully needs to defend themselves from the school as well.

It's so nice that you were the only soul that made Greg feel that people are not bad. It reminded me about a friend whose people simply hated him for....nothing. He was tall and bulky,very intimidating, but it was him who became one of my trustworthy friends. People were very unjust with him :(
Reminds me of the fourth grade. A frequent bully of mine shoved me in the hall while I was holding a school laptop, almost making me drop it. So when I passed him going into class, I blew a raspberry at him.
Yaknow, like a child.
I then got called down to the principal office where I got marked for a SUSPENSION because I “almost gave him pink eye”.
I was a foot away from this kid, in motion, walking past him when I stuck my tongue out and blew a raspberry at him.
That remains to be the only mark on my record to this day and I will NEVER live it down

It's always nice when parents have your back. My parents always told me that if I needed to defend myself or my sister to do so without fear of punishment on their end. "Don't start fights but if you get dragged into one then you gotta learn how to finish them". My mom even encouraged my oldest brother to kick another boy's ass that had started a fight outside our house, this boy that had been picking on my brother for months mind you. My parents don't mess around they trust us enough to know we aren't gonna throw a punch unless someone deserves it.

Edit: Since everyone is sharing their story, I will to. I was bullied when I was younger, and nobody got in trouble. Somebody even hung one of the things I had that looked like me. When I stood up for myself I got into more trouble than the boys who had been bullying me for more then three years. They also put me up with the school therapist who told me it was my fault.
Also school: If you're being bullied *always* go to a trusted adult

I was harshly bullied in around the ninth grade in English class by someone who just loved to torment me about how much I sucked for liking dinosaurs a lot. Essentially, being a nerd. And this went from constantly grabbing my attention to humiliate me in front of the entire class just so I can scream in front of everyone to bugging me with questions that halted any and all class activity because it was bugging me so much. Which even bugged the teacher! And she was so sweet and stood up for me. And yet he STILL bullied me! It got so bad to points where I would cry in front of everyone and, again, was humiliated! And this happened across classes too. Not with the same person, mind you, but with a lot of the people in my classes. I’d be made fun of, humiliated, pushed around, made fun of, be the absolute floor mat and punching bag of the school. And the final straw with this bully was when we were watching a movie that had an assignment with it and he would CONSTANTLY interrupt the movie by asking me questions just to annoy me and the worst was when he started pushing the desk behind me so it could hit me behind the head. And that was the final straw! And everything stopped from there! I blew up in front of him and stormed out to the principal’s office to talk about him and his… pardon me, shitty behaviour. And after that… I don’t think I ever saw him again. I’m pretty sure I got him expelled. Which… I don’t feel too good for myself for doing, but it’s what happened. He ruined my life and was harassing and belittling me and making me look like a moron, and I made sure he had an ounce of respect in his body.

I need to be completely honest with you, Rebecca. (Don't worry, you're not in trouble.) Your channel shares a vaulable theme in common with The Iron Giant; both are crimminally under-rated with a heavy emphasis on "criminally". I feel like you're like a second mother to me along with the rest of your Explainers and Entertainers with how thoughtful, loving, and heart-felt (There's more than those, but I don't want to risk a sea of water works.) you've been to all of us. You remind me of my high school choir teacher, Ms. Turley (Mama Turley to her "kiddos"; AKA her students.) who was such a sweetheart who let us watch movies in class on occasion (Ususally on the holidays.) and who'd teach us line dances every Friday. She retired the year I graduated, 2018 and she was my first second mother to me and all of her students. She holds a very special place in my heart and I hope she's living her life to the fullest. I had a situation similar to this back in elementary school, in 4th grade. I was dealing with a bully that picked on me, mostly verbal. One day, on the playground, he was about to push me, I was trained in fighting, so I grabbed his arm, pinned him to the ground, slammed his face into the mulch, and my knee on the small of his back, left arm in my hand, behind his back, ready to snap it. A lunch aid broke up the fight and sent us both to the principle. We both got luch detention for three days. My Mom got me an ice cream and ticked off my principle because my Mom sent multiple emails saying I would snap. No major punishment, but the bully respected me afterwards. The moral of this story, don't mess with the quiet ones, they're the ones that snap the loudest.

That's probably why the principal didn't call your mom. He probably knew his ruling wouldn't sit well with her, and he was counting on you to be too scared/relieved to not be in trouble to speak up. A lot of teachers/school admin are spineless like that, they'd rather hush up a problem than do the hard work of fixing it. Good on middle school you for having the guts to speak up, and good on your mom for responding appropriately.
Oh trust me I know that all to well. ALL TO WELL. My old school was AWFUL the principle was a B@@@ and eventually an incident happened to the point of needing the cops...the school proceeded to LIE about calling the parents...and the cops found that out real quickly...they were not pleased. My mother.. raised hell. Badly..

@@Silver_wind_1987_ During middle school I was badly bullied throughout i by this one guy who hated me for no reason. When we were both in the principals office my mom and dad were brought in and flat out threatened to sue the school AND district for allow me to be tormented. Said bully was switched to a different class schedule from me entirely and the teachers took my cries for help much more seriously. And then in High School another bully threatened to kill my animals and broke a window at our house. We pressed charges, got a restraining order and despite his friends trying to get me and my parents to back down it stuck.

I had that happen to me in one of my old schools and I swear to God the principal was TRYING to make me terrified, he looked absolutely down right like he was about to hit me, he looked SO angry and I mean REALLY angry, I didn't even do anything wrong I was just out of my seat when class was going, thankfully my parents ripped the piss out of him when I finally told them how bad I was getting bullied in school, it only had to take me being stabbed five or four times with a pencil by some random kid to get me to spit out what was happening to me to my parents and it is absolutely true that they are spineless when they face two parents who were practically Spitting Fire at their face, luckily I don't go to that school anymore I go to a much better School District and have some very good friends
It was mostly my mother who tore his head off, trust me when I say you don't want to fuck with my mom when any of her kids get messed with, I've seen her go full on Banshee mode with a dude who opened our car door to yell at me to move the car while she was in the store, I was like 10 or 12 at the time so I couldn't drive the car, my aunt was on the phone with me at that time and she was freaking out

The amount of times I got in trouble for defending myself and the teachers said they'd call my parents, only for me to find out years later that my parents had no idea most of these had happened. My main theory is that the teachers knew punishing me was bs and that my parents would know it too, and so they just told me they were telling my parents to scare me into behaving -_-
i’ve never faced severe bullying (at least irl), but it warms my heart to think about the fact that becca’s story videos can inspire young audiences so much to follow in the path of what she did right and stick up for themselves. all the love to you and everyone who reads this

As someone who got bitten in pretty much the same place by a man with dementia whilst working on a mental ward, yeah, it hurts. Also, he did break the skin and I did go to hospital and then I quit my job as I was not getting paid enough for that kind of abuse.

I go to a pretty twisted at school too. I like to read a lot and I get in trouble a lot for it the app I used to read most of my books since you can’t really get paper back unless you want to miss out on half your classes requires me to be at school during school hours or pay a monthly fee so of course I read during school hours when I’m done with my work and my leader ship teacher of all people doesn’t really like that, despite the fact that there’s many many people who commonly do things far worse than reading when they’re done I have so many minor, behavioral in fractions from that teacher for reading.
I think you did good for standing up for what you believe and I'm sill surprised that someone bit you.
