Have you heard about the most comprehensive book ever written on Cherry Shrimp? It includes information on how to keep, feed, and breed them, and it's written by my good friend Richard from Fishkeeping Answers. 🙂

Honestly one day i hope this channel blows up. We need more marks in this hobby. I cant watch these fake channels anymore. There all b.s made up 😂existing content. No originality , hell half of them only have channels because of who there dating. Whats funny is people take there time to watch that crap 😂 Time is way to valuable to be spent on people that only ask and take things from you the viewer. Its all ego and i can clearly see that with the ones appointed stars of the fish world lol 😂 Funny thing is , if they hade a option to pick mark. They wouldn’t pick aquatics or pets. 😂 So cheers to you and the real life knowledge you provide and share. With out a lick or asking for anything 🎉 🎉🎉🎉🎉
like and subscribe? 🤣Thanks for the kind words.
Seeing baby Scrimps just melts my heart.
Caffee just got ready in time, love the timing
Amazing video today mark thank you so much for cluing us in on the increase light observation I'm definitely going to try it I always have a hard time with green Walls
Teeny weeny baby skrimps! ❤
Got my water changes done today as well. Trimmed back my java moss as well. I was very surprised to see so many babies. I thought the breeding went down in the winter months, but not for me!!
That is awesome!
I used to use the HM digital pens. A Caridina breeder friend recommended the Apera Instruments TDS20 Pen. Its been a game changer. Even with calibration my HM digital was about 40 points off
Haha yup hm pens are not accurate.
You have an air pump for your aquariums. If any aquarium has bubbles that last longer than other aquariums, this may be an indication that you have elevated nitrates. If you are not so picky with numbers, it is a cheap method. But it is perhaps too far gone for shrimp, easier for fish perhaps.
As you said at the end we all need to learn how to grow green walls to keep shrimp successfully. Over the years I learned how successfully growing green walls in my tanks and I'm sure you do not need a lot of light for it. Just normal light for 10 hours a day is ok otherwise you might also grow some nasty algae in your tank as well like beard/hair ones which you don't want.
My problem seems to be I cant keep them green, I think the snails might eat it all away to nothing and I am preety sure the bigger breeders kill all the snails and worms in the tanks.
@@MarksShrimpTanks Snails definitely will eat green walls, better not to have them also limpets will clean it in no time if you have them in your tank. Now I'm resetting all my tanks with the limpets and I don't use any plants or mosses from infected tanks for my new setup. Hope one day all my tanks will be free from limpets and snails. The powder I got from shrimps affair works very well to grow green walls. Let me know if you want to try it I will post 50g for free, I have plenty of it. You got my email just drop me a line with your address. Cheers
I love seeing shrimpTubers talking in the comments.
Hi Mark really like your videos.
Was just wondering about the lights and what would you recommend leaving them on for.
Thanks
Hello, I have mine on for 8 hours a day and the plants seem to be doing fine if that helps you any.
Love you videos ..... do you use or recommend "activated carbon" in Caridina tanks ...... I've heard if you remove it that it would pull out the organics including the tannins ......
Hello Lewis, I dont keep it in the tanks unless its for a reason like removing medication, Long term use strips tanks of ferts and you would see a difference in plants like they would start to struggle and go yellow.
Love your videos. Thanks for all the advice. Can you tell me if you use any resin to control nitrates in your tanks? (Purigen, Fritz max out) I know the main source of nitrate removal is water change. I use Purigen in my community tanks. Just wanted to know if these resins are safe for shrimp. Thanks
I dont use anything in my tanks now, i used to use puregen but got sick of cleaning it.
ADA in UGF or? i move to next month and i would need to do some tanks new, bought UGFs but still dont know what Soil should i use. i had allways good things with Aqua Soil from tropica. Akadama is not good for UGF?
I did a UFG with amazonia a few years back and it was very good, ive never tried it with akdama .
@@MarksShrimpTanks not using UGF anymore? Or you using with something else?
first, coffee 😁
Mark other than wondering if you drink black coffee i was wondering whats under your tanks on the shelves ? it looks like just cardboard is it in wood ?
its fake slating, like the stuff you put on the outside of wooden houses, its sole purpose it to have a level surface for the tank, its not a structural thing, under is a shelf rated to 800kg
Is copepods an indication the tank is cycled or ready for shrimp?
Yes its a very good indicator.
Hi Mark. I want to ask about wather changing . I have to vacuum soil or not? I have acadama soil.
No never vacuum a soil 👍
Thank you
Do you mind if I ask you why you put h202 in the water?
You mentioned it’s to oxygenate it. Is this needed ?? Or could you run air through it for 24-48 hours before use.
I did both, you probably dont need to bother about it but I thought I would try it.
My shrimps started to breed like crazy since i made a 50% weekly waterchange
what type of shrimp
@@MarksShrimpTanks caridina logemani variants
Probably a hassle to set up but you could run a sump in each rack. Then you’d only need to test/water change the sump.
the issue with this is the filtration needs to be super fine because of the size of the shrimplets, I dont think I would trust a standard overflow to function properly.
@@MarksShrimpTanks I’ve never used a sump but a quick search shown no videos for a shrimp one. It would make a great video if you solved the issues.
Why did u remove the water auto top of system. How are you topping off the water then .
Ive never had an auto top off system on all my tanks, but I will add one eventually.
Does anyone know what kind of waterweed is in the cover? Thank you vvvvery much.
You mean on the thumbnail? its not real , the shrimp is but the plants not.
@@MarksShrimpTanksThank you, my friend. Hope for more of your videos.
Hi Mark when you have green water do you just leave it and it will slowly go away? How do you treat it? I know it's good but not very nice to look at. What's your process when your tank has green water?
well i dont really do anything to the water, it can go away itself but recently I added an extra sponge filter to a tank and it cleared the next day.
Mark, are you still doing waterchanges on your caridina tanks?
no just top ups with RO now , i have loads of baby shrimp.
Could you link the mentioned shrimp keepers for us maybe? I would love to check them out!
I can do better than that I can link you too the two videos, th-cam.com/video/fAW4_odt9dw/w-d-xo.htmlsi=CdnhHgy5D9E-1ySO

@@MarksShrimpTanks even better! Thank you😁
Every time I do a water change my shrimp die. All the parameters are the same except the tds as as I'm trying to lower it as over time it gets high. When I do the water changes I drip the water back in... Idk what I'm doing wrong. I'm down to 4 shrimps and I haven't done a water change in a couple of weeks because I'm scared to lose them.
if they are caridina just stop doing water changes, feed once a week a small amount of food like a pellet, make sure they always have a supply of brown leaves.
@@MarksShrimpTanks Thank you so so much!
How many tanks total do you have?
right now 25 but i have space for tripole that now 😲
Shrimp breeding is not about breeding Shrimp! It's about growing as much biofilm as possible! The more biofilm the more the babys have to munch on it and dont starve to death in the first weeks.
This is it in a nutshell 👍
I'd be interested to look into what biofilm "feeds" on, especially what resources limit its growth. Just like growing plants if you can provide the limiting resources you could have better and faster growth.
Sera NO3 Test for 60 readings, less then 20€
yeah I like sera stuff, I am just waiting on warmer weather now I dont trust the postal service to not freeze my test kits.
I only have planted tanks no filters and never do water changes. People have to do water changes because they feed too much.
You do what works for you. 👍
People have to do water changes because of the immutable laws of physics. How often you have to do them is different for every tank. But you do, eventually, have to do them at some point, even if it's once a year.
