The Delta 717 experience in my opinion is great for the types of routes it is scheduled for! As others have stated it was leased for an extremely good price and solely to replace regional jet flights with mainline service! I have only flown one twice(once with its original owner AirTran andagain this week with Delta on an hour long jaunt)! Ignoring the level of service provided, the actual ride quality and the cabin appearence was probably the greatest ive experienced! Even though the plane I rode on was over twenty five years old, the flight including both takeoff and landing was the smoothest i e ever experienced and the cabin was in pristine condition with the softesr seat i've ever experienced! Delta did originally have plans to install an ife system onboard the 717 however Covid made them rethink these plans! The planes are now expect to leave the fleet by 2030!
The 717-200 isn't nearly as bad as the short haul CRJ200. I have a flight booked for May from HOU>GTR and I am flying First Class on the 717. If you want a plane with all the bells and whistles, I will say the Airbus A321 is amazing. I flew on it in 2019 from SAT>VPS. The 717 is an old school workhorse, Delta actually has scheduled it for retirement and replacement by 2025. Safe travels!
We've recently discovered the joys of flying first class and we're HOOKED. We have been on one of those Delta first class flights and they don't seem like they're all that much nicer than the other seats, but you at least get free alcohol! We can't wait to fly first class on a long haul super nice flight, that'll be worth it for sure.
“This is how Business Class people travel, they put their feet on the wall!” I absolutely loved that you also found that so uncouth! I’ve seen someone do that and thought 😮!
Delta has a fabulous reputation. I'm sure their international first class is another standard. We've been very spoiled with some of the flights we've been on. If we have an opportunity we'll have to try Delta again.
717 is one of the nicest aircraft you can fly. They have powerful engines on the tail less chance for engine failures and can take off on shorter runways.
The 717-200’s in Deltas fleet were inherited when they bought AirTran. Boeing built the 717 in an attempt to compete with smaller regional jet manufacturers and as a fuel efficient medium size jet for short haul markets. It was essentially a failure with very few airlines jumping onboard. We live in a small city and it’s what we get when flying Delta. Hardly the first class experience one expects, but still better than coach class. I would like to see the experience reflected in the price, but it’s not. For us the best part about the first class cabin on a 717 is no middle seat, so we’ll still book the first class seats on a 717 when we can, but only if it’s our only choice. For us American has flights on smaller regional jets with equivalent experience and seats. So for us it comes down to price and routing.
Agree. They used to have that plane from ATL to LGA Sucks. Now it’s a 737. Wish they would retire that and go 737 all the way. When I have to fly a 717 I just take advantage of the free booze.
Delta is amazing. Shorts flights like 2 hours gets u a 717 airplane which are arguably the most reliable aircraft ever. They incredibly efficient and have never wrecked. The solution: don’t pay for first class on such a short flight. It’s pointless and delta knows that. The issue isn’t that these people weren’t treated well. It’s that every other customer probably got the same exact service these customers got. Delta treats their client (regardless of class) extremely well. Anything under 5 hour flight delta is the way to go 100%
Yeah this plane is fairly outdated. I actually haven’t seen it in a while whenever I fly Delta. And I usually see lower service on 2 hour flights in the US. Outside the US I would expect a meal for the short flight.
What a bummer! That doesn't even look close to first class... I guess you don't get what you pay for. What happened at the end? Not allowed to film there?
Unfortunately, the pay-more-get-less-philosophy runs rampant in the airline industry. Legroom keeps being reduced, checked baggage is (in most cases) no longer included in the fare, and on shorter flights, you're lucky if they offer you something to drink. Very disappointing. I wonder what it will take for airlines to start realizing this is not acceptable. Great review!
I’ll take the 717 over a CRJ or an ERJ hands down. Much more comfortable and it’s a very well designed and very safe aircraft. As for the airline, Delta over any other domestic carrier every day of the week. Your complaining is hilarious. You were expecting dinner in first class on a 2 hour flight on ANY domestic airline? Seriously? 😂

Delta rocks!! First class on two flights so far. Sydney to LA and Beijing to Detroit, both awesome. Delta is where it’s at!!

Are you a commercial pilot?
@@DOUGandNIKI you care about your comfort or your safety?
@@jacobbonetti6335 I don't think the two have to be disconnected. We'd like comfort in a safe aircraft.

its a 2 and a half hour flight what did you expect?
Crazy stuff like a comfortable seat, a little more service, and more of a snack than one would get on a budget airline.

Doesn't look like a first class lounge. Or perhaps because it is a short domestic flight. Like your honest opinion.
People don't seem to be a fan of honesty but we think it's part of our value proposition here. Honest thoughts on our experiences.
Wow, I never fly anything but 'cattle-class' but I would have been seriously bummed out to pay premium for that...
We've been lucky to take some epic flights. This one wasn't one of them.
😡 Won’t be flying with Delta that is for sure. Great honest video.

I'm not sure the rent a cop was right about the no filming in the airport but it was late and time to go home.

If you pay with miles, do they still allow masturbation when the seat belt sign is off?
Aren't you supposed to be the expert at that?
@@DOUGandNIKI Indeed! Just wondering if its legal. Remember, after 9-11 everyone got all sensitive. Thanks a lot Bin Laden.
