    We were flying Delta from Florida back to Detroit. Our flight was canceled so we had to stand in line to book another flight because the Delta phone lines were jammed. So many people were rude and obnoxious in dealing with the gate agents. When our turn came we were kind and respectful. We were put on a flight leaving the next morning in first class.

    Well the way the airlines board people is stupid. They should load the plane from the rear to the front. Way faster and more efficient. Myself, I always fly first, I would rather been sitting in the waiting area than on the plane. So I watch the line and always board near to last.

    As a Delta Diamond Medallion member out of the SLC hub, these are all great tips. ALWAYS BRING WATER!!! I recommend Active NOISE CANCELLING headphones. As far as charging ports go, almost all Delta seats now have not only USB ports but also AC plugs at every seat with the exception of the small Sky west operated planes. Still a good idea to bring a spare USB battery. Lastly, take out your headphones when the flight attendants come to your row for service.

    We always booked nonstop flights. The connecting ones are more expensive, most times. Travel insurance works for coverage. We had to cancel the day before we had to leave. My wife's doctor would not let her fly.

    @OweEyeSea ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Completely agree with a number of these points: buy directly from the airlines and take direct flights as much as possible.
    As far as which is the best airline, that depends on where you generally fly out of and your destinations, since a hub airport will have more flights and more direct flights. Flying out of SLC, for example, means Delta is the best option for most flights. However, if I'm flying *to* another airlines hub, they may be the better choice in those cases. For instance, Alaska is a great option for going to LAX or SEA.

    We feel for you! We were booked to go back to Japan just as COVID lockdowns hit and we cancelled. Would you recommend doing comfort plus for international? What's the difference?

    • @Zachus
      @Zachus  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Comfort Plus gives you a little more leg room, and dedicated space above you. That's about it. For International, I recommend Premium Select (more like First Class Domestic Flights) except you can recline a lot more with a footrest and have bigger screens and better service. (Also known as Premium Economy). The only difference in Comfort Plus vs Economy Main is a little more leg room.
      Next is Delta One which is more like Business Class than First but offers usually a POD, Lay flat beds, more privacy, better service, better meals, etc...
      Hope this helps

    Great tips for flying with Delta or really most airlines. I would NOT recommend getting a snack with any type of nuts in it. We were on a plane and purchased trail mix in the airport. When we got up in the air on the flight, there was an announcement that anyone with nuts in their snacks are not permitted because a person on board had a nut allergy. The trail mix was the only snack we brought so we were out of luck.

    My family avoids Delta Airlines like the plague because of a bad horror story one of us had. Every airline has them, and after seeing some surprising research. I figured out that they have a pretty good record. Every airlines has its bad day, but it's all on how they make it right. Bigger airlines like United, American, and Delta. They have options to get you where you're going. When things go wrong. They're just a safer bed that way.

    • @Zachus
      @Zachus  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      At this point, honestly, I've had a bad experience with nearly every airline out there but like you said, it's how they deal with it. Delta is rare for me more than any other, mostly on time and always super nice. I just prefer them still after flying them for over 20 years now.

    You mentioned needing to take off your shoes for security. I recommend getting Global Entry/TSA Pre-check. No need to take off shoes, remove laptop or liquids, etc. And many credit cards give it to you free! Also, given how devalued Skymiles are, I’m considering assigning my miles to Virgin or Flying Blue for my next trip. What do you think?

    • @Zachus
      @Zachus  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yep if you fly a lot then Pre-Check/Global are worth it, but you need to fly a LOT to make it worth the cost and effort.
      Pre-Check is domestic USA
      Global Entry is for international flights coming back to the USA to speed up getting back in

    Delta is always #1 in my experience as well. From call center to curbside to gate to flight crew, everyone is on script with polite, professional service. One time I was flying home and had a connection in LAX. I was waiting to board my first flight (to LAX), and it was delayed. It became obvious that I was going to miss my connection. I went to the gate agent who looked over my itinerary and recommended that I go to the Delta help desk just down the corridor. When I got to the help desk agent, there were clearly notes on my record from the gate agent. The help desk person looked at me, shook her head, and said "this will never do." I need to change your flight to a nonstop to your home airport and put you in first class to accommodate your inconvenience. Can anyone imagine United doing that? lol

    Not a flyer but both a railroad employee and train passenger that I used to use Greyhound, now Amtrak, in getting to and from my company's yard to and from, a day prior to my working my scheduled shifts. Surprisingly, each and every one of these tips are mad similar and helpful for use on both the Greyhound and Amtrak, most especially the one in your Spirit video about the mobile app. Spirit honestly must be pretty much the Greyhound of the airline industry because they HATE whenever you have to print your ticket at the stations (aside from the kiosk), as they charge you about 20 dollars extra to do so. Amtrak is definitely one that seems more comparable to that of Delta or American.

    This was extremely helpful, especially regarding the snacks and hydration tips... I've been having a lot of anxiety about our flight coming in October. This will be my first flight with a family of 4. I'd rather drive across the US but my husband insists that we fly. We have our 9 month, our 4 year old, two pet carry ons and ourselves. I'm praying it's not gonna be stressful but who am I kidding? I'm taking kids on the plane lol and I'm doing all the foot work and preparations for our flight. I'm flying in October with almost 3 y/o. Don't worry, it's all going to be good. My advise.. make sure you have something like iPad or Kindle ready, the moment they allow it you can turn it on and your kids "disappear" for couple of hours from radar:) I flew with my little one when she was almost 2, then 2.5 and now in October would be third time. Explaining what's going on is a huge part of keeping them calm and relaxed. Good luck with everything!! Oh, one more thing. I treat my daughter with Mamba, the chewing gum for kids so start and landing is something they looking forward!

    If travelling from Canada to USA via Delta, does Delta ask you if you're vaccinated when you check in online?

    • @Zachus
      @Zachus  ปีที่แล้ว

      Coming to the USA there are no vax requirements and Delta will not ask you. Going to Canada is a different story from what I've heard. No USA Carriers have ever required any vax of any kind, all normal. I hope you have a great flight!

    Question: why are people so anxious to board a plane, especially if you assigned seats & you don’t have carry-on luggage?

    • @ShelbieMolnar-sl7vr
      @ShelbieMolnar-sl7vr ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I’m with you. I’d rather stay in the lounge and have a cocktail. We usually fly 1st class so I board toward the end since I know my overhead bin can’t be used by someone else. Also 30 mins less of sitting on the plane.

    Oh my goodness thank you so much! This is going to be so helpful. Unfortunately we bought our tickets through Expedia and got a good deal (before we saw your video😢) then we wanted to upgrade our tickets and man😤 it was a hassle going back through Expedia. You are so right about buying tickets directly through the airlines-we bought through ANA to Japan 4 years ago and had an awesome experience. Excellent exceptional customer service. We will take everything else you said into account for our upcoming Delta flight. Thank you for sharing.

      Oh yeah, been there. The worse is if the flight gets canceled or something goes wrong. I think Expedia is the best one if you have to go with one. I'm sure you'll have a great flight! Just booked a ticket on ANA yesterday for our Thailand trip 😉 great to hear they are awesome! Have fun on Delta!

    What is this water thing? I heard that we can't carry liquids on the plate.

    • @Zachus
      @Zachus  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think you're thinking of TSA security. There are stores all over the airport that sale drinks. You can take water, come, juice, tea etc into the plane and consume it.
      You can also carry your own alcohol onboard, but you cannot consume your own alcohol on the plane. Everything else is good.
      Sorry someone misinformed you. I've flown fort years ago over the USA and world and almost every airline. I never fly without water.

      @Zachus  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You received a booked ticket as a gift? It may be that they had closed any upgrades at that point. I'm not sure without looking at it. Sorry you couldn't upgrade. You can always ask the employees at the gate or when you check bags. They have more power and can see more than is available online.

    Someone said on another video, you can fill an empty water bottle after you get passed security, can you take a big purchased sealed water bottle say from Kroger with your purchased snacks as long as you make it visible to the people doing check-ins? And if that's OK, do you just put it out to be examined in the airport security trays? Because I thought I heard all liquids have to be 3.4 ounces in a quart bag at security check in? So how would the big water you recommend taking not get kicked out? Need to know, trying to get ready for a Delta flight this next Saturday. Thanks for all your tips. I have a portable charger, like the one you pulled out of your Rolling bag, if I try to take that will it also need to be put in the bins at check in, maybe you have covered it else just getting started on the be prepared videos. Thanks Jackie

    • @Zachus
      @Zachus  2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      No, you cannot take any liquids through security. They will throw them away. You can only take sealed snacks through security. You can take a Yeti or Water Bottle that is metal or plastic for works outs like this one amzn.to/3JVvgfa but it has to be empty, then you can fill it up with a water fountain or at the bathroom or buy cold water and pour it into it.
      For the battery pack, do not pull it out. Leave it in your backpack or bag. I leave mine in my suite case through security. Have never had an issue. Don't start waiving it around though. I carry 2-3 normally depending on how long the trip is but never pull them out.
      Hope this helps! BTW this is true for all airlines, it's TSA regulations through security to get into the gates. Hope you have fun on your trip!!

    Hello, I did not really understand tip 3. I know that you Can bring a sealed snack, but you also mentioned taking a coke. How would I take a coke or any soda if we’re not allowed to take liquids more than 3.4 fl oz?

    • @Zachus
      @Zachus  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      You can take sealed snacks through TSA Security but no liquids like water and coke. After TSA on the way too your gate, this is where I highly recommend stopping in a store or at a vending machine and getting water and coke (or/and juice etc). Then this will help you be in control on the plane. Does that help?

    • @Zachus

      If the tickets were bought together then just one check-in is required for all. You'll get the option to check-in just you or everyone. Once check-in is completed they can refresh their app and get their boarding pass.
      If bought separately then each person will have to check-in.
      Have an awesome flight
