All the previous comments say the same thing, but really man, you did a superb job at explaining Neo Soul. This is now by official go-to source to keep developing my skills for this genre. Thank you.
You're going to have sooooo many subscribers !! I've learned more from this channel than I deserve. I'm now a Patreon subscriber and I'm so lucky to have found this channel. Thank you very much for your instruction. You're an incredible teacher.
Bruh, thanks for droppin' this... I have the Nasty Soul Starter Guitar eBook(which is da bomb-truly!!), and this is an awesome supplement to that material!!! loveandpeace.
Damn this lesson was damn good and couldn't be any clearer to understand! This is exactly what I was looking for!! Got me hooked with this one!! Definitely digging deeper into your channel/ lessons and all else now!! Thanks so much for that!! 😎❤💯👍
Great video! Do you have a video where you teach the concepts of solo'ing? I can only "solo" with single notes - I don't really know or understand the knowledge that goes behind solo'ing with more than 1 note at a time.
Great video, thanks for posting, as someone who is completely new to neo soul but would like to learn more am I right in thinking the neo soul sound is best played on semi hollow guitars? Sorry if this is this is a dumb question
Yo yo! Thank you for all your content! Do you have any advice on how to practice all the different neo soul chord shapes? Any fun exercise or something?
1. Memorize the shapes. Get em down cold. 2. Apply shapes over chord progression. (play specific order or lick w shapes) 3. Try same lick in different key. 4. Repeat for rest of life while adding more licks and ideas to your repertoire 🔥
Here is my burning noobie question that not a single neo-soul guitar teacher in the youtubiverse addresses: Where do these neo-soul chords, riffs, and licks come from? There are all these neo-soul guitar teachers, but not one of them refers to the artists that created them, or songs where we can hear them in context. Wanna learn funk guitar or bass? Teachers say "this is from James Jamerson or the Johnson Brothers." Gypsy jazz? "This is a Django lick from Limehouse Blues." But who are the neo-soul guitar heroes and what songs can we hear these lessons in?
Mind blown 🤯 when you explained why 9 11 and 13 are the only extensions available. So simple but I never thought about it like that!

No matter how hard I try, my barre always mutes 1 string, which I can usually cover up, but with these 7 chords it's really hard to keep track.
Just realized the groove 3 chord progression is the same as szas kill bill
haha cool!!
