I’ve been playing for 25 years and have my degree in music and this was one of the best moments of my TH-cam life. So well explained and executed. I couldn’t help but grab my guitar.
finding lofi to be what I've been hearing in my head for years, but did not know what it was called. putting Studio 1 to use with these new guitar sounds and having a blast
Your approach to music is so magical. You obviously have a lot of technical knowledge but there is something aetherial and intuitive about your approach.
Great video, Rotem. Simplicity is often underrated by musicians, many of whom focus overly on flash and speed instead of soul and feeling. You break this down well so that novice guitarists will learn valuable lessons and more experienced guitarists will still learn or relearn insights.
My Studiopartner studied classical Piano at a High Level and He hates it nowadays.. He told me He should have stopped after 1 year because everything after that is Just overcomplicated and is in the way of writing simple, yet emotional pieces.
This is one of the best, freshest guitar videos I have ever seen. He's also showing a great deal of options to superimpose pentatonic scales for different modal sounds, without any extra bs he's just showing HOW. Fantastic video.
I dont comment on stuff often. But lovely playing. Simple with some flashes of more. what you've captured here soo well, is that sensitivity to the song is king!
9 minutes into the video and i am actually playing lofi neo soul stuff and understand why and what i am doing. thank you so much! this might have been the most efficient lesson i ever got :)
4:19 starts to get dense from a theory perspective. Here is what he's saying. An Fmaj7 chord has F-A-C-E notes in it. And an Am7 chord has A-C-E-G notes in it. Notice the A-C-E are the same - but we are changing an F note and a G note. If you play an Am7 over an Fmaj7 then you're really just adding a G note and G is the 9th of Fmaj. So... one could argue that playing an Am7 over an Fmaj7 is ACTUALLY just playing an Fmaj7add9 but leaving out the root note.... Thats why we call it theory...
Beautiful lesson, and what an intoxicating looped blend. I'm not au fait with neo-soul or lo-fi, but I'm off to learn more now... Forgetting that, the tune is etched into my head now, and I'm happy with that. A great lesson and your style and teaching delivery is, as always, a joy, Thanks once again Philip
I just discovered this lesson and it has filled a cold, rainy Saturday with beauty. I really like this approach and I think I have a lot to learn from it. Joined the Patreon for more down the road.
Rotem it’s always such a treat to watch and listen to your videos ! You are so musical and an amazing teacher too. I don’t know how you can so gracefully go from playing with great feel to explaining / talking about the theory behind it almost in the same breath ! Kol a kavod it’s very impressive!
Loveeee what your doing for all of us Rotem! All your content is top notch and your music is beautiful. Easily one of thee best channels to follow on TH-cam. Thank you so much!
Your video course is so easy approaching but yet contain so many details that it's worth pausing and going back to again and gain. Thank you for being on the other side of the screen
Really loved this! SO inspiring and helpful. This piece really motivates me to learn more theory and dive into the fretboard. Will definitely check out your workshop. Does your beginning workshop explain these concepts?
Hi Rotem, your music is so inspiring and beautiful. This lesson created a revelation for me about using multiple pentatonic scales and chords (derived from diatonic upper structures with common tones) over the progression, rather than just playing the parent key scale or scales associated with each chord over the changes (limited understanding of what was possible). Thanks a lot 🙏🏻
Superb video and coming across it couldn't have come at a better time for me. Just beginning my journey in lo-fi and starting to incorporate guitar into the mix. Well done!
I’m in the UK, so the time difference probably means I’m at work, and would we pay you or are you doing it through your Patreon? I think you are a very original content creator. Many thanks Rotem, you should have a 0 on the end of your follower number, I’m sure you will get there!

Sorry I’m dumb and read 1 book of music theory lol, still trying to understand it
@@toybonniesfm Hey! Don't call yourself dumb just cause you don't understand something that takes most people a decade of study to fully grasp.

I agree. I try to keep things simple. I tend to play more colorful ideas with just 2 chords. Thanks!
Spoken word and lofi go so well together that this video is honestly a nice track haha

Impeccable indelible tone as always Rotem! I feel like I took a dip in the Aegean sea. (A-G-and-C) sorry not sorry for the pun. 😅
Your playing, at least the tone and the fast licks with chromatics, really reminds me of some of Pat Methenys stuff. Sounds awesome man
Nice vibe, Paul Davids.
