If Matt has taught us anything, it's that the journey of a professional footballer is to persist and never give up. Experiencing these down moments will make the highs even sweeter once you get there. We'll be sticking around to see what you do to motivate yourself and climb back up to the top. Thanks for giving us the gift of experiencing the ups, and the humility to share the downs. Keep up the good fight.
That's one of the reasons I love you Matt you show the real side of the game, what you and the team is going through is part of the game, sometimes as a team you might be having a bad streak of results due to many reasons beyond your control as a player and individually as well you might see as if you're not getting the performance you're grinding for. And I know how hard and nasty it is to swim in defeat waters, especially the night after the game, it's just something else, so for you Matt to remain resilient and be able to finish what you started documenting even after a bitter lose and be able to show it and remain cool headed, it really says a lot about you, You're a true winner, and I believe a turn around will come just keep on learning and applying, I believe in you, just keep going and keep on working, and keep believing eventually things will change , I love you man keep up💪❤️

Many will say, it's just a sport. Yes, but for many out there on the field and the organization, it's their livelihood. Hope the chances keep coming and the results get better.

You already know you were at fault for three goals. You're skilful, strong, determined- but, in the nicest way possible, you need to be tougher in the tackle. You're shadowing wingers but you need to get 'stuck into tackles' and to track runs much earlier. Then you'll be flying it 😁
Very well said respectively. I personally agree but honestly it’s way harder than it sounds and seems. If he overcommits they will take a touch by him so he’s trying not to overcommit. It’s really hard to defend with the perfect balance of getting stuck in and not overcomitting in quick and difficult circumstances but I see your point
Love your channel Matt! Always great content with valuable information, insight, & perspective. On a side note (& I am in no way being critical, just giving you advice) referring to Manchester United as you did is a faux pas & will possible get you some irate & unwelcome criticism mostly from fans in the UK. Never ManU.
Love those videos of yours. It is pretty similar than with your previous team before. Your consistency is insane and you are truly a role model for the next generation of players⚽️💪🔥
Try and remember why you play in the first place, you love it. Not because it’s your job…you’ve played this sport your entire life, even before you were paid. Sometimes you have to leave your head out of it and follow your heart, trust your muscle memory and remember that when you’re on the pitch, the game is all that matters. On to the next one 👊🏽
Matt - Do you regret moving to Charleston, it seems the style of play doesn't fit your strengths. Your 1v1 defending (positional defending in big loss last week) and distribution seems as if it took a step backwards. Are you tired? You will be 30 and have a long career left in USL, but after your year in Tulsa last year I thought you were on an MLS path opportunity with your ability to play in multiple positions, distribution, pace etc. Seems like Charleston is a tough fit for you? Thoughts?
Tough luck out there, Matt. But that's futbol. We've all had bad, rough seasons at some level of soccer in our lives. Never feels good. All you can do is move forward, which you will. As a soccer observation, looks like you lot need to tighten up the defending and goalkeeping.
Can you make a video about nutrition? I workout pretty much everyday and am seeing great results, however, my nutrition isn’t in tip top shape. I wonder how much better I’d be if I ate cleaner. I see you put creamer in your coffee, eat biscuits, etc. Do you eat this everyday?
A referee has to do a lot of things ti be able to do pro level games. It’s more difficult to get professional game assignments than it is to get a professional playing contract.
Man don't be too hard on urself. First goal really was a classgoal from them. 2nd goal, yeah that was a really bad pass and even if the pass would have been good, I'm not sure what he could have done with the blue guy pressing him. He probably just plays it back to defence so you could have done that urself or more importantly, just play the ball down the tunnel with a cross. I think your team needs to start play more simple (Burnley style like you watched before) and play more longballs. Also, get the ball to number 9, he has some magic.
Matt i feel u this week i played a soccer tournament and made it to the finals we were the better team but we lost in pens and we were the better team shit happens and it sucks because the team i played against didnt deserve that win but its Football
It’s actually hot water, I’ve never seen an athlete utilise hot water before a match, maybe they all do it maybe they don’t, I might search it up now and see does it benefit a lot
Hey Matt, I’m not a professional player or semi pro like you. I am only 13 as a right back playing for my youth team. I know your probably more experienced but by watching all the goals Miami scored it seemed like the person with the ball would draw your right back towards them and the. Pass it to the left laying it off for someone to finish it. Maybe the right back could wait a bit before fully commuting because he was leaving the man to the left wide open. I know it’s hard to defense 2 players but what I do usually is watch that pass and wait a bit before fully commuting towards them because it seemed like your right back was rushing in to quickly leaving a man to the left wide open to finish the lay off pass and this applys to all defending positions so that’s just my idea.
USL is a fully pro league. Also, Matt is the right back. It is the center back you are referring to. The rule is to always stay between ball and goal. Miami was overlapping with a fast left back and Matt was caught too high to recover. The Charleston 6 and the 5 and 3 are also getting caught too far from the ball. Matt may have done better, but he is not the only one.
You should’ve slight tackled or made an attempt to block the shot on the first goal, if you just stuck your foot out you would’ve blocked it you were very close to the winger

If you're looking for a random fullback to analyse I recommend Tariq Lamptey from Brighton. Absolute baller
Good recommendation Lamptey is a beast
90% of his game is built on inhuman pace so you can't take a lot watching his performances from tactical perspective
Seamus Coleman (before his injury)

I think it’s probably worth noting that he can’t say outright that he regrets moving to Charleston while he’s playing there lol

That keeper needs to step it up, he basically gave up on all those 1v1. I know it's the defender's fault, but come on man.

For the third goal did you really put your hand up for offside.. when you were the player keeping him on hahaha
Damn first goal was class all the way

Try watching some Davide Calabria. I think he suits that sort of fullback that you're looking to watch, even if he does play for Milan.
Personally,I would never replace organic fruits/vegetables with a powder
As a defender myself I know exactly how it feels when you are to blame for conceding a goal (our job is hard)
