The lift hill sound was so iconic in Iowa that one summer when I was a kid, one of our local radio stations did this game called “Sounds of Summer,” the concept was the caller would hear a certain “sound of summer” and have to guess what sound it was, and I remember one was the sound of the Dragon lift hill, and the caller got it right! RIP Dragon
This kept giving me a head pounding lol sad to see it gone. Hope the dragon slayer is good

I rode on this ride in like 2012. Then rode it again in 2019 right before it closed, I think it was time. I rode the dragon slayer yesterday and it was great
I never rode the Dragon but I rode the Dragon Slayer last summer and it wasn’t really enjoyable for me cause it made me dizzy and I felt like I was gonna fall out, but hey agree to disagree
Every time I go to my grandma and grampas house we always go to adventureland, they live in Iowa and I live in colorado.
Omg My grandparents also live in Iowa when we visit we go to adventure land! But it that’s not crazy enough we I also live in Colorado!!! So weird

The first roller coaster I ever went on was in the front of the park - it didn’t have that first big drop. But this was the second roller coaster I’d ever rode on. I had to go and hang onto my dad but I was hooked😂

Wow I remember the Dragon was a huge deal when it was built. It had double loops! I got to ride it the first summer and many summers after.
Thanks for capturing this. I liked The Dragon, but it was WAY TOO JERKY...especially after the loops! Let’s see how The Dragon Slayer goes!
I got whiplash and motion sickness on it I don’t recommend if your have motion sickness try the monster it’s way smoother and new

Nostalgic, but not the best coaster I've been on, haha. Curious to see what the replacement, Dragon Slayer, comes out to be!
It is a better dragon
It’s eh, not really fun. Very different from the Dragon. Not bumpy or rough, but made me extremely dizzy, and I NEVER get motion sickness.
I’ve heard on the news that this roller coaster has been since demolished! :( A-Land though did give us a new teaser though on Facebook that might replace it.

i went on the dragon may 4, 2019 and it was the worst ride experience i had at the park that day. my head was smacking against the restraints
Yeah definitely is not the best coaster build, worst roller coaster I’ve ever ridden

Other than that it was 30 years old. A lot of updates have been made to coasters in the last three decades.

adventureland needs to remove or redo this and the tornado. way too rough and painful!
They announced on Facebook that in 2021 a new ride will replace it. They have already started dismantling it
This Coaster is terrible
