Joe,I love the fact that you show the good, bad, and ugly . Yes, you got lucky a few times, but I rather be lucky than good . Cooler heads prevail, and you have the coolest, way to turn a bad day around . Stay safe.
I’m going on 61 years old. Been there done that. Sht happens. Lesson learned. Better tires and don’t wait to long to pack the roads and have a get out planned. Great video, glad you do not edit this stuff out.
I can relate when you said that, "you could hear your dad's voice in your mind." I appreciate the fact that you're willing to share when mistakes are made and how you work your way out of them!
You know Joe, a lot of folks would edit out misfortunes like you had, but you use them as a learning tool. Bravo to you. Good idea on moving the trap across the river. Congrats on the fisher and glad the day turned around. Hopefully nothing was damaged. Thank you for the video. Have a good night.
Thank you, I make a lot of mistakes , learn from them, and try to make less mistakes. I put myself in a lot of tough situations and love sharing them with everyone to maybe learn from good or bad. I appreciate it John. Ended up being an incredible day right!
I learned a long time ago, no one’s perfect specially me. That’s how you learn is from doing dumb s..t! Being able to smile about it is good. Maybe not at the time but down the path. Good night, Trapper Joe.
We've all definitely been there Joe! Great channel! Congratulations on a successful season, looking forward to your ice fishing season/videos and Donnie and friends!
Joe you don’t keep anything from your viewers! Just another reason to love these videos! You could have cut all that out but being the man you are you are willing to show us all! Makes me respect you even more! All I could think was damn I wish I could be there to help you! Anyone who has a negative comment has never been in a tough situation! So pay no mind to them! I’m glad you finished out the day with some great catches
You started this deal saying you'll be ethical, lawful, and honest. Showing us the true trials, tribulation, handwork, and mishaps is a treat to tge viewers. And make THAT Fisher a Grand Prize. Totally awesome 👌
Wood ashes works good for traction also Joe I always throw my wood stove ashes on my drive way in winter and come spring the ashes sort of disappear , into the road , but right size chains would of got you out without a problem , and still time to get trailer out if someone gets you the right chains in time before the snow gets hard and to deep ,
Lower air pressure and carrying tire chains was always a must in the winter when I lived in upstate New York. Always had some ice melt and sand along with a good shovel.
Hey Joe you can't foresee everything, What learned from the Marine Corps years ago was to improvise, adapt and overcome! That's what you did! You used your head, powered thru it and made it happen! I,m proud of you brother!
Hi Joe, great video. I think those of us who spend any time in the bush trapping or hunting or fishing when the snow comes and starts to build has had an episode like you had. I had a similar situation in where I thought ok I can make that shirt up hill distance and have things go north in the blink of an eye. Good on you for finding the solution and following through to get your truck and trailer out. This is the type of video that draw me and other people to your channel, honest and true experiences as a trapper. Cheers MT
Id prefer to be lucky than good any day of the week. Glad it all worked out. Another excellent day on the trap line to boot. Looking forward to the next video. Stay safe Joe.
Hey joe glad it all worked out for you it is what it is !! No one’s perfect we all make mistakes!! For anyone saying you should have done this or that from the couch !! Shame on them !! Merry Christmas to you and Donnie and keep them videos rolling you know I’m watching! Cheers
Hey Joe, loving the videos. I have a suggestion. Maybe use a very light weight ice spud as a walking stick on your sets near the creeks. To aid in crossing safely and checking water depth. Then just leave it strapped to the sled when you know you won't need it. Just a thought. Keep up the hard work. And happy holidays buddy.
Ya know, when Dudley sees this he gonna be all over you 😂 Jack knifed, water in the boots and almost had the trifecta when that trap snapped at ya. Reminds me of my driveway fiascos. Glad it worked out.
i came in late again. just watching the truck and trailer slide.....ohhhhh nooooo. yes, wanna watch later too. The fur made everything better eh? Did for me!
Get in touch with Bob from jackman, I believe. You and I spoke previously during a live stream about how he subcontracts all of his snowshoe building to Charleston correctional facility. (Yes I’ve spent time there. Yes I battled addiction for 20+ yrs. But here I am, nearly 8yrs free with a moderately successful construction business of my own. Save the hate….please) I can’t remember bobs last name but he’s very well known. He donates all proceeds from the snowshoes to pine tree camp and special Olympics. He also does a ton for wounded warrior project. I’m sure someone in this comment section knows him. He’s got a guide service around the jackman/Rangely area. He can certainly set you up with the oversized shoe that I built a jig for about 10yrs ago
No hate from here, Congratulations. It aint about falling it's about how you get up. Sounds like those would be the right snowshoes and company to support thank you I hope I find more info on them.
@ google “Maine guide snowshoes. Their names are Bob and Andrea. If you get in touch with them tell Bob you’d like a set of xxl snowshoes that you and Jamie b designed at Charleston correctional facility (ccf). Their website says if they don’t already make what you need, to give em a minute while they make it. Hopefully this is helpful
Joe you need one of these mini extendable shovels for checking traps they’re so great for odd things like this I use to have one strapped to my snowmobile. Chezmax scamazon store 25” small kids digging shovel.
Well that sucks but that is the truth about trapping . Might have ben a good idea to take all that snow out of the trailer , I check most of my traps with an old rifle scope that way i leave less scent and save time .
It’s called preseason work, you should be checking traps and not messing around with your driveway while h you should of taken care of when it was nicer weather, also you should of had a barrel of sand on that incline mixed with salt along the side
Sled being Snowmobile? That's what we call it. Or tote sled behind snowmobile? I prefer the snowmobile most of the time but if I have to jump back and forth its sometimes easier just to stay in the truck .
Manufatured problem. You've been around the block enough to know that you need an escape route. Either that, or you're getting burned out . Take care of yourself
I’m going on 61 years old. Been there done that. Sht happens. Lesson learned. Better tires and don’t wait to long to pack the roads and have a get out planned. Great video, glad you do not edit this stuff out.
Joe I struggled backing a trailer up when I first started towing. Dont give up! You will get the hang of it.
HAHAH I will get there buddy
Trailers do not respond when they slip on snow it can be nearly impossible to control
Have you ever thought of dragging the road when it's not frozen. So you have a flat drive on winter
Joe,I love the fact that you show the good, bad, and ugly . Yes, you got lucky a few times, but I rather be lucky than good . Cooler heads prevail, and you have the coolest, way to turn a bad day around . Stay safe.
I'm always going to love how you show it all, the good, the bad and the ugly. I've been there.
I've been there me and my brother got stuck once and we're there almost all night, and that was the last time we hunted without tire chains
Whenever you clean out woodstove put ashes in a can and when you get slippery roads use the ash like salt
I’m going on 61 years old. Been there done that. Sht happens. Lesson learned. Better tires and don’t wait to long to pack the roads and have a get out planned. Great video, glad you do not edit this stuff out.

You’re just getting the bugs worked out this year, next year will be super smooth!!
I like the way you think,

Thank you my friend! Not always the best moves, not always doing things right, but always trying, never quitting.
@ yup absolutely
I’ve been watching you for years Joe and I’m always amazed that you don’t ever wear gloves in freezing temps
I wear them while riding the snowmobile
Living in Wisconsin we all feel your pains!! But you sure got paid in the end!!! Great day Great video!!!
Thanks man! Glad you enjoyed it.
Id prefer to be lucky than good any day of the week. Glad it all worked out. Another excellent day on the trap line to boot. Looking forward to the next video. Stay safe Joe.

@@JoeHollandFishing you have inspired me more
If you haven't found yourself in a mess like that, you haven't spent enough time outdoors. Weve all had days like that, well handled 👍🏼
well put, thank you.
Perseverance Joe!
Hey Joe! Shiznit happens bud, adapt and overcome! 💪🏻👊🏻
It happens, gotta keep pushing forward!
Ya know, when Dudley sees this he gonna be all over you 😂
Jack knifed, water in the boots and almost had the trifecta when that trap
snapped at ya. Reminds me of my driveway fiascos. Glad it worked out.
hahah truth on all accounts
way to not give up Joe.
you got it.
Hey Joe, keep your winch handy, you never know when you might need it 👍 Good luck up there and Merry Christmas
Thanks, Merry Christmas!
Wood ash works really good for traction
Love your videos joe you keep it REAL
thank you
Way to push through! Be safe out there.
Should build a covered sand box on top of your driveway
Great channel! Thank you for great inspirational, educational entertaining videos !
Joe we watched this real one and the outcome too. Stay safe on your skidoo with the big moose out there. ❄️❄️🎄🎄
thank you, will do
Love the trap line videos. My wife an I watch every night. Thank you for all the good info. (snowdog machine).
Shit happens, Joe. We do have one thing in common...I hear my Dad's voice of reason all the time too. You got it done and that's all that matters.
Thank you
i came in late again. just watching the truck and trailer slide.....ohhhhh nooooo. yes, wanna watch later too. The fur made everything better eh? Did for me!
Your never to old to play in the snow
Truth! Love this comment, Thank you..
Also I have a snow plow and chains on my 700 grizzly for those type of situations
nice
All you can do is figure it out and keep smiling
Chains, shovel and a few gallon pails of sand/salt mix 😊
yup
And some common sense. Lol
And a winch👍
Wow you're one lucky fella

Great video
Thanks!
I know we don't live up there but that snow is rough
Joe you need one of these mini extendable shovels for checking traps they’re so great for odd things like this I use to have one strapped to my snowmobile. Chezmax scamazon store 25” small kids digging shovel.
thank you I will check them out.
Another great video
I appreciate that
Any ideas or plans to get the big trailer out?
Yes, Four chains on the 4wd , stay tuned!
Well that sucks but that is the truth about trapping . Might have ben a good idea to take all that snow out of the trailer , I check most of my traps with an old rifle scope that way i leave less scent and save time .
Какой фирмы используеш капканы?
Poop in a group = Getting ur shit together.
Something a youngster said the other day and I appreciated its pg-ness.
haha I like it.
Did you make your own boxes or buy them?
I thought there was more camps where someone goes around and plows/sands. Make a clip of when you slid backwards and hit that tree with the trailer.
Put a piece of rubber 6”X6” over your latch couple roof nails to hold 1 side , will keep latch clean to open
Thanks for the tip! I think I saw Trapping Todays like that looked smart.
Sorry that what intold the wife came to be. But Joe you over came and will again. Me and lots ofvothers are concerned about you and your well being
Hey man I know there not cheap, some aggressive tires would work out well...
That was a oh Fu** ! moment right there ! been there done that !
truth
@@JoeHollandFishing
Joe those weren’t mistakes but a learning experience ! But if you don’t learn from them then it’s a mistake !
Hey Joe what would it cost me for a fisher or a marten to be sent to British Columbia Canada?
I really have to make sure I can ship outside of the USA . Lets do some research feel free on your end too
A bucket of tailings and salt works well
Wood ash works well for me
Ash from the wood stove, kittie litter50lb bags kept in the truck
Put down some hot ashes from the wood stove
Did you gun blue all your traps??
Trap Dyed most of them
Got a better idea get one of them Bombadier bombi and put a wrecker winch and you'll have a recovery vechical
Joe I’ll drop off a snow blower and some sand salt 😂
Be good to have some under a tarp just in case of bad rain or freezing rain.
It’s called preseason work, you should be checking traps and not messing around with your driveway while h you should of taken care of when it was nicer weather, also you should of had a barrel of sand on that incline mixed with salt along the side
Yeah I learned my lesson.
I’m thinking it’s Donnie’s trailer that’s bad luck 😂
haha, This one was on me for sure!
" Shit Happens " think of the memories you made for yourself
absolutely
thank goodness this wasn't today. It was zzero earlier and yesterday. Sat was 14 with steady 20 mph wind and gusts to 35. It was near unbearable
haha yup, we had -10 I slept out on the trapline overnight. Stay tuned for that vid.
A man that hasn't made a mistake is either a bold faced liar, or hasn't had many life experiences or learned something new.
so true, I mess up daily. Just try to learn from them and minimize them or the results.
I’m not a trapper but Why not bring the sled with you on the trap line run?
Sled being Snowmobile? That's what we call it. Or tote sled behind snowmobile? I prefer the snowmobile most of the time but if I have to jump back and forth its sometimes easier just to stay in the truck .
I have a winch on the front of my truck , it never fails me
nice
Oh no !!
yup
Joe get yourself some chains!!
stay tuned
My brother and myself own property by eustis Maine. Where are you located? And what are the dimensions on your cabin. I might steal your layout
Are you still Joe Holland fishing or did you change to Joe Holland Wildman? Asking for a friend.
haha, Just Joe Holland for now.
Hey stuff happens when you’re playing hard 🤷🏻♂️ just the way it goes sometimes.
next time try dropping your tire air pressures down to 15 PSI you will be surprised how much more traction you will get.
Good advice! I'll keep that in mind for next time.
Don’t your hands get cold 🥶
every once in awhile. If i didn't wear gloves while snowmobiling they would be cold for sure.
Tire chains bro, tire chains. I live in Missouri and I have tire chains for my vehicles and you live where??
tire chains are amazing, make a 4wd into a tank!
I hope you didn't freeze your feet
no worries, all good
Manufatured problem. You've been around the block enough to know that you need an escape route. Either that, or you're getting burned out . Take care of yourself
thank you
You've got everything else get some chains for the truck OOPS spoke too soon, ok just get the right size
Yeah I brought the wrong ones and didn't test them! Lesson learned
One of those days where you should have just stayed in bed eh?
It did make for good content though😂😅
No! Ended up being an amazing day . Always gotta get back up and try again.
Maybe getting a real truck with a plow.
good idea
Dont have ne 4wd
She was in 4WD
You should get some skis and build a small box trailer for your sled, my father use to haul fire wood like that!!
Cool idea
Great to see something went good in your day. 🫎🦞🌲🦌👍🏻
It did end up being a great day!
No one can ever say that you don’t put the work in Joe. 🦞🫎🦌👍🏻🌲
Appreciate the support, gotta keep on trying.
I’m going on 61 years old. Been there done that. Sht happens. Lesson learned. Better tires and don’t wait to long to pack the roads and have a get out planned. Great video, glad you do not edit this stuff out.
Truth, it was a learning experience for sure thank you.
Hey Joe, keep your winch handy, you never know when you might need it 👍 Good luck up there and Merry Christmas
