It's fun how different could be the same experience. TDU was always about driving and not that much racing. Like deliver a car without time limit, just enjoy it, use indicators every turn, etc. Regarding the breakable things how the sidewalk not favorizing Motorfest and NFS like shortcuts, the old TDU even had a penalty system on some races. It preferred clean, stay-on-the-road driving and I liked that. There are the other games where you can fly through fields at 300mph, but TDU was always different and I hope it will stay that way.
About the customization, again, this is not Crew or NFS or Forza. TDU cars are close to stock, that's a heritage again. Maybe some official car mods, but keep it minimal.
I really like your channel and your content and usually agree with you, but you want this game to be something that's not TDU.

6:13 I forgot which article it was, but the developers confirmed that the tdusc demo was running on an old build, like a VERY old one. While I am quite happy the final game won't look anywhere near as bad as this demo, I'm still on the fence whether or not this game will actually be good.
I won't get my hopes until I see footage of the LATEST build to form my own actual opinions.

@ch3micalromanc369 I agree, to me it sounds like complete bull and an excuse because any dev releasing a demo wants the best looking showcase of what the games going to be and if you want it to sell mo dev in their right mind releases a very old build of the game as a demo. I think the game is gonna flop hard because it promised way to much and it's going to have a nightmare of a time dragging players away from other already ongoing established racing games that have built a following in tdu's absence. Outside of the tdu fanboy's obviously.

Test Drive has never been about customisation and never will adding that will take the game down the wrong path how many hyper cars and luxury cars you see modified in real life not many if you want customisation play need for speed.

@@MilitiaGamingCommunity I understand man. We are getting used to crazy customizations like NFS, Forza Horizon or The Crew Motor Fest. But some games you can enjoy it just driving fast cars without customizations like NFS Hot Pursuit, Rivals and GRID games, Just hace fun!! 😉
It doesn’t have to be crazy. But it’s so limited that it doesn’t let you play out the fantasy that the game is selling in the first place. Customization is a huge part of car culture. Maybe they could have added engine “customization” like when you add a turbo/intake etc, you can see it in the hood. And when you park, you can open the hood. Stuff like that would be cool. It doesn’t have to be wild unrealistic stuff.

Even still can I see how this is a fair criticism, the game doesnt do what it was originally meant to do well enough to justify not having even the small things you mentioned. I feel like TDU2 did the lifestyle aspect better, while atleast dipping into many, maybe too many, different things in terms of what a general racer of the time had, that being engine upgrades, a vinyl maker, cops, SOLID physics (as long you stayed on the ground) list goes on. I played TDU2 for the first time last year and genuinely felt like I made a mistake in my younger years not ever playing it. I dont feel the same way about SC at all.

The games director said the demo is a old rolled back playtest version of the game, in a recent interview or maybe it was a blog post.
Well what else can he say he wants to sell his game doesn’t he 😂 I suspect he’s playing on words to achieve that I mean define old 🤷♂️ that could be last week. Be a bit weird to release a demo leaving a negative impression if you had something better I think.
Most devs say that for damage control. I forget which game had this same response when the beta/early access/demo version came out, but they claimed it was "an old build of the game," which really wasn't far off the release version.

I think the survey has come far too late. It's all well and good that they're finally interested in our opinion, but the survey should have come at least a year ago after the gameplay presentation. 3 months is simply not enough to fundamentally change anything. And it's doubtful whether the majority of players have the patience to wait until their requests have been implemented. The games industry is far too fast-paced for that these days.
They have plans for 10yrs they made the game from the ground up unlike some we have heard before FORZA MOTORSPORT but yall go for it but yall complaining about anything 😂

And I don't see that happening in the current situation. They can't just release a half-finished game and put players off by saying that they might deliver everything later.
Car customization doesn't belong in Test Drive,maybe OEM parts but bodykits and that crap is not necesary in this game,you have Nfs for that,there are many important things to improve before adding customization,like the lifeless world or the performance of the game

Nobody is expecting NFS level of customization, or even Crew levels of customization. At least give us stuff like Forza, there are hardly any wheel options, we can't change the size, color , ride height etc

U already have traffic along with city noises traffic vibes with it's own music turning signals convertibles basically full car functions better radio stations etc.... full character customization I mean i can go ON and ON abt what this DEMOstration does better and seems it doesn't need 500+ to do so

People overhyped this way too much, maybe more than any other modern racing game released, now this did hit them hard, something i dislike a lot, they should have released a beta first, not a demo, as beta versions are not finished yet and then they can grab even more feedback from community to improve in the future, Demos are supposed to be the finished game but limited in content so you can have a first impression before buying it, i knoe they clarified that this demo was an old build version, but here's the thing, why would they release a less developed version as a demo to the public, mostly giving them bad impressions, i remember you trigger saying that Motorfest was gonna be a dissapointment, and kinda was, but this? If they dont do something, this might be even worse that TCM or FM 2023, 2 games that released fairy close to each other although different genres

I thought the demo was okay. But, the real questions are more like...1. Are car based games just 're- inventing the wheel' with every new release? 2. What do we want in the game to make it more fun? Bring back the joy of driving, I say.
Customization has never really been a thing for this IP apparently. However, I'm the same with you. At least give us the GT type of customization is better than nothing.
It has one thing going for it.. racing games are in a bad spot now.. NFS is the funnest now 11:04 , but its so old .. IVT thinks a twin island 6 months too late is gonna be enough and forza is just new cars. Alot of people will be buying and trying tdusc so hopefully the at least get the servers figured out

If they released this demo as a stress-test, something we clearly label as a stress-test when we introduce them to the public, then I wouldn't be so judgmental of what I'm seeing. The problem is that they chose to refer to this as a DEMO, something we in the industry release as a way to DEMOnstrate the final product and entice people into buying it. All that they ended up demonstrating was that the game has more problems than it has features: The physics don't make sense, the handling model can't decide between arcade/sim, the environment is inconsistent with how it reacts to being hit, the performance sucks, the servers suck, the city looks bland and dead, I could go on.
Yes I am aware that the devs said that it was an older build, I don't care. It doesn't confirm how many code check-ins were done, what features were added, if any performance tweaks were made; heck I've worked on a number of projects where the builds stayed pretty much the same for months on end because most of the final parts don't get merged into the main-build until towards the end of production. Saying it's an older build means shit in the industry.

@@Nobody_PlaysGamesAt least Forza and Motorfest has buildings that look different, TDUSC demo couldn't even do that and it's literally downtown Hong-Kong. Besides there's more subtle details put in those games that TDUSC doesn't have. Sure all of them feel dead in regards to players on the map, but in regards to just environmental details, TDUSC missed the mark.
As for them being a AA studio... so? I've been a dev on a number of AA and AAA titles that have sold very well worldwide, and for their *five year dev-cycle*, they should've had a lot more done by now.
Happy to be proven wrong, but I don't expect to be surprised here.

@@Nobody_PlaysGames you can't call something that's releasing in September a draft. With the absolute horrendous performance even on high end hardware, server issues, and imo broken physics and handling, I don't thing this "draft" will have any significant improvement on release.

I think the most fatal thing is that devs made HK too wide, like the road lanes are about 30~50% wider than what it is in the real life HK, leading to the ignorance to one unique feeling when u drive around the city.
In my opinion it is absurd to comment on driving physics while driving with a keyboard....😅 And content creators need to understand that this was an EARLY DEMO of the game.
I was using a controller. I know it’s an earlier build. Why drop a demo of a build that doesn’t work? Either because it’s the most stable build they have or because they wanted to test servers…either way, it failed miserably. And now MANY people will not be buying the game.
@@MilitiaGamingCommunity That's pretty much me. After playing the Demo....I'm holding off on buying the game til the reviews come out. Was very disappointed in the demo, early version of the game or not. Horrible way to advertise any game.
The fact that they even limit your answers to only a few, means, that they shot themselves in the foot. So now, they're having to overwork the development team to fix their own problem they caused themselves. They painted themselves into a corner themselves, by announcing the game too early, when what they should've done, is delay it even further to fix the game, what they should've done is release a few betas, to play test, at different intervals of the development phase, have transparency, right now, a lot of people don't trust them, myself included. If they've already given us Pre emotive answers, not allowing us to choose the answers, that means they already know the issues, but what's the point of limiting us the number of answers, or issues we can pick on that list, because, in some questions, I would've chosen all the answers aka issues that I have with the game, that's NOT being transparent, truthful, honest. That's the most stupedest way, to fix issues in 3 months no less. There's no way, they can fix this game in 3 months. They're gonna be red faced when it releases. The bad reviews will keep flooding in upon release, marking this game the worst release of the year. Couple years after release, this game will already be forgotten, will end up being a shell for what once was a great franchise.

The graphics are mid bro, we're playing this game on PS5, or the newer Xbox, most are on PC, they probably have the advantage, graphics wise. This is worst than the Forza fiasco, waiting almost 10 yrs, and they dropped a dud, even the most TDU enthusiast are stating this game is mid. Just another game in a long line of games to drop prematurely, to then give us an incomplete game at launch. This is an always on line game, and you couldn't even get a race in, most of the time. I'm not impressed, at all.

“You should play a different game if you want X,Y, and Z”. As someone who played TDU2 I’m a little disappointed by the demo. The online only feature absolutely kills any fun with inconsistency and the presence of an eventual end date for the servers. The driving was ok but could be better. I liked the obstacles slowed you down and the map, but the city did feel empty

If you have at least a Mid Office PC, you should try the 1st TDU, you can get the game free with a mod called Platinum Mod, adds lots of cars to the game, sound patches, slightly better graphics, and you can still mod it to add more roads and races to the game, might be the best Racing game mod i tested ever imo

Game is already heavy, if they add more cars and NPCs to doesn't feel like a dead game, it will be even heavier.
I don't care on customization, but I do like tuning and would love to adjust wings, suspension et cetera. I felt a lot of understeer and oversteer on RWD cars.
I think the game will be different when it launches. This demo was a version of the game from months and months and months ago.
I do agree that the way the cars feel is not great. There's something off about it. But the other Test Drive games had the same feel

So? Even if its "just a demo", the devs decided to show and release a version of the game to give us the opportunity to check the game out and if it runs like poop, then it runs like poop, period.

Every demo I've played wether it's triple A company or smaller dev team has been the same on release, example outriders demo 100% replica too game release 👍 this demo is the end product lmfao ray tracing will take more than 3 months too fix, the reflections of buildings reflections are a joke on the cars and wet roads etc might be a little issue too you but its a big issue when it comes too ray tracing team, the game needs delaying again imo 👍

Someone is paying you ! Maybe NFS ? Cause you graded this beta like a finished game . Motorfest was super buggy for months . U mainly spoke on pvp options . 40% of motorfest cars can’t be customized outside of rims & paint . But you just berated this demo a DEMO for not having enough customization. So many cars in MF that lack customization. Motorfest server was trash . I play with 3 other players consistently. Anyone will tell you hold 4 players in a crew on motorfest was almost impossible. AGAIN! Finished game . You were not this harsh on motorfest . A finished game . They have 3 whole months . You could be playing a old build . You KNOW that’s the more likely option. Lifeless ? Is a underrated racing game in beta stages ! Like wtf bro . Those checks or incentives really start to show .
Maybe you shoud ask for *wheel mod* to have a *unfair aventage* on other players 😉

@@Tesseract69I mean come on man it's obvious most of the TH-camr PC players are using it let me ask you this question then how do they beating everybody in the grand race with cars that's not meta now I know they can't be the only good drivers out of 28 players that constantly spam meta cars 24/7 don't that seem a little off to you and yes he's using it as well I can tell by looking at his drivingI pay attention to details and besides I drive pretty good myself and I'm on console like I was racing one of them named block he was going fast as he was drafted somebody while he was in first place and I was behind him the whole entire time and he was leaving me and someone who was helping me draft and he still was leaving us by inches by inches yeah man don't be blind those PC players they're doing something to their cars but they won't tell you that my cousin found out that little trick that they be doing he told me about it

Also, directmode exists for everyone now. So nobody can use the excuse of 'wheelmode advantage' anymore to cope for their skill issues. Whether they admit to it or not...

This game will be dead on arrival unless they change bunch of systems before release. They made one of the worst combos they could have:
It does not have the marketing budget of Forzas;
All races are PvP matchmaking, even when you just want to race only PvE;
Game has no offline mode (even though there is absolutely no reason for that);
And It does not only not have cross play, It's also region locked;
This thing is going to be completely empty from the start.
As a result you will be sitting there waiting minute matchmaking for each race against AI on empty servers, just to grind some races. And as if that miserable excuse for gameplay loop is not enough, the game will be shut down and unplayable couple months after launch, because it's just another trash live service cash in and there will be no audience for it to cover server running costs. Who would want to pay 70€ for a game like this that will barely have any players in it anyway. It's gonna snowball so quick.
On top of all that handling model is godawful, graphics in demo looked like Unity asset flip, optimization was non-existant, all that slow walk around massive car showrooms was waste of time not immersive. The demo was the absolute worst representation of the game. I took it out of my whishlist after playing it. I will pick this up only for 5€ at least year after release if the game still exists at that point.
Beta is old, so no one knows the real game surprise
The demo was a surprise. I’m not sure why they would surprise us with a demo that was an old version of the game with little to no messaging (“this is an old build. We are just testing servers and networking”) They just released it to the public and if it the most updated version runs better and represents the game better they kinda shot themselves in the foot a little because this did not help sell the game. People who were on the fence about preordering are for sure waiting till after launch to see what happens now. I hope I’m wrong, cause I’m was looking forward to really playing the game. We will see.

3090 gpu, i9 cpu, 32gb of ram. It’s not a bad PC. The game runs bad. The servers wouldn’t keep me connected, couldn’t load into the game. You can go back and take a look at my first stream playing, it was a nightmare.

The driving is not realistic and stiff and very arcade but the way the car interacts with objects in the world is more realistic, its just not very enjoyable to drive cars in a "driving" game. On top of that, the servers were an absolute mess and the world was lifeless. I'm not upset, just worried about the future of the game. I want to play it and I want to like it.

@@MilitiaGamingCommunity tdu is a game about realism. when u hit a curb irl ur car is fucked. i didn’t play the demo so i cant say much bout the driving feeling but as someone who drives on the daily when ur car oversteers unless u correct early ur spinning out. the game wants u to use the road. hit the brakes. not take 90 degree turns at 80 mph. at the same time its a demo. driving feeling may change. but why ask for a game about realism to take out the realistic parts. if u don’t enjoy realism then dont play. this is a game that tons of ppl want because of its realism. theres too many fake ish games like the crew, forza, & nfs type of driving games that don’t address the true car culture. ppl want to cruise, use blinkers, roll down windows, etc. theres features that were seen in the trailer that were excluded from the demo most likely for the reason of making a simple demo about the main issues so as they can do mass testing. the features that don’t need fixing don’t need to be in a temp demo. theyre not worried about those. they’re more interested in the realism aspect and making sure its working the way thats intended. im positive running thru curbs and fences is intended to slow u down. everyone always asking for someone to bring some originality but as soon as it’s brought ppl wanna complain. if u want a fun game like tc2 or nfs then stay there. tdu is supposed to be a car culture sandbox with a story to help making progressing thru the game more enjoyable and feel less like a grind like most games out these days.
