@@PlanetThrill yeah those games aren't exactly thriving either. If you're guna put a battle pass in a game, it better be free imo. Battle pass in a paid game is insane.
@@PlanetThrill Uh, a lot of people were complaining about both NFS Unbound and Motorfest on day one. Players were pointing towards the lack of content in both games (though unfairly-so with Unbound imo) with Motorfest being the worst example in recent years. TDU SC - no mmo elements - tiny lobbies on a huge map - barely any character customization or stores - no houses - no special deliveries - no casino this doesn't feel like a tdu game
houses, special events and casino will be added later! They want to support this game for years! This game can make you 1000 times happier than a new freakin need for speeds or something else I dunno!

Remember when we had a plethora of solid open world racing games? It's almost hard to blame Forza Horizon for being pretty lazy the past two releases, with the lack of good competition these days
At this point I'm sick of open worlds. Give me like several mid-sized worlds like Midnight Club 3. Heck just gimme a new Midnight club because modern NFS ain't cutting it
ALL they had to do was remaster TDU1 and/or 2. NO ONE would’ve complained about getting those exact games with just modernized graphics & updated physics…
@@t.k3579 Nah, I always preferred a remaster of those 2 over a new tdu (mainly cuz I knew they’d never be able to make anything better). But still, I wouldn’t have minded a new sequel if they hadn’t effed it up so badly.
@@Dregomz02 Exactly what I wanted to comment as well. I will avoid it for shure, unfortunately I speend soo much time on TDU1 and 2 on the old 360, I really wanted a good successor. Well that did not work out. Lost the TDU DNA, lifeless map, abysmal performance und well aged graphics, freaking battle passes coming and that always onlibe bs that does not even work from the beginning
TDU SC will go down as the biggest self sabotage in racing game history. KT had everything needed for a successful racing game. They had a passionate fanbase. Instead, they proceeded to do the polar opposite of what everyone expected. The game was revealed over 4 years before it released (equivalent of revealing Assassin's Creed Unity after Brotherhood). It was almost considered a vapourware for more than 3 years before they finally revealed gameplay in the worst way possible. KT saw that The Crew 1 vanished from the face of the Earth after 9 years and 4 months (which also includes getting delisted from players' libraries), yet they still insisted on keeping that always online DRM. KT somehow managed to make the map feel more empty than the map of an 18 year old racing game originally made for 360 that was also available on PS2. Game also runs at only 1080p when performance mode is chosen, and Series S doesn't even have performance mode. If it wasn't for Alex VII, most of us would've lost interest in this game a long time ago. Alex VII cares more about TDU SC than the publishers and developers themselves. It's a miracle that this game even managed to end up of players' hands.
@@CookinBeatloafthis guy's has been promoting this game a lot he even showcases the supposed finished build like he's having all the backdoor access to KT's offices
Really the best analysis of this UTTER FLOP game that could've been one of the best ever and it turned out completely opposite. Real shame and still can't understand all these gamers enjoying and praising it...
It is a miracle the game even shipped. I wouldn't blame KT as much as you did. Given they're going on strike against Nacon as the game is released, I wonder how much crap they had to put up with from their publisher.
Review on point. How did they have pedestrians in The Crew which is 10 years old but in new games it's too much effort? How are we still limited by the same lobby and group sizes as 15 years ago? If they wanna make it so online focused, then it should be properly implemented. Cross play, no region lock, at least 16 player lobbies and 8 player groups. Throw some fun side missions in (remember the location reveal trailer right at the end, when the camera panned out from the trunk of an Aston with a suitcase in it?) and a police system and you have a great game! I personally really enjoy it already but i obviously really hope for the studio to keep updating this game with said content. FH needs a competitor!
“TDU 1 and 2 were so ahead of its time”. Just like those games TDU Solar Crown is a product of its time. Whereas the 2010s (and prior of course) had games actually had effort put into them, now it’s just another intellectual property to collect digital dust. And dust it will collect given that it’s an always online game. The only way I’d imagine these companies to put effort into their games again is if there’d be another video game crash like the 80’s.
I was skeptical since the closed playtests and I feel justified now. My experience in the demo was as such: discover roads and pickups in starter car, buy a classic 'Stang and the DB11, complete discovery... and then it felt like I've seen everything. Racing is not very compelling and outside that there is only cruising - both of which I cannot do with friends due to region lock and pitiful group size. And it seems nothing has changed in full release. Major performance issues also seem here to stay. Severe lack of JDM cars in freaking HONG KONG of all places is just a kick in the nuts. The whole package has this clinical, corporate, checking-boxes feel to it. Got map, got cars, got racing events, got a little bit of story to it. But where's the soul, the vision? Horizon with all its shortcomings still has a unique atmosphere to it. Hell, even a game like CarX Street with the BS AI filler, and underwhelming handling, and mobile roots has heaps more style and flair than Solar Crown, and actually feels like made by people who are into cars. Honestly this will just be a pass for me. I'm not interested in casinos or crew battles and I feel like nothing they can add on top of v1.0 will offset the missing backbone.
I started playing TDU 2 recently after like 10 years and I realize how much I love that game even with it's flaws. It's more enjoyable than TDU SC with so much more things to do in the game world. At this point I'd love just a remaster of TDU 2 with better handling.
You can literally take pictures in the game and hang them up in your house for bloody sakes in TDU 2 which is incredible....it's both amazing and I'm grateful that will always have TDU 1 and 2 masterpieces, and also annoyed that they refuse or are incapable of simply making a new one with the exact same amazing perfect features.....I have to assume it's pure incompetence or deliberate subversion at this point because it simply makes no sense for games 10-20 years old to be objectively better then stuff now across the board. All they needed to do was have a real life location/map/ fully explorable/ place dealerships and clothing stores around the map/ modification shops/ have championship off and on road races/ licenses tests places/ and the ability to buy houses that are customizable of all types all around the island that have garages and etc. that's literally all they needed to do and instead they did essentially none of that. It simply makes no sense, and as crazy as I may sound well if ideology/agendas/and subversion is infesting Movies and tv shows now even to the point of knowingly sacrificing maximum financial gains....then have to assume a similar thing is taking place in the video game industry as well.
Exactly right?! Only the thought of having to race against other people stresses me tf out. Life is so competitive in any aspect these days I just wanna kick back and do some relaxed races against AI and not have to worry about competing and giving it all, all the time...
TDU SC is actually completely unfixable. They made a massive blunder immediately making a TDU game, they made it so your cars are in a menu and you can have infinite cars and just decide which ones to put on display. Thats not TDU thats Forza. I loved that every car in TDU2 mattered to me, i worked hard for them, my first Ferrari etc. you had to buy a new garage to store more cars but every car felt like YOUR car. This can never be fixed in TDU SC because if they do fix it, theyll have to take cars away from people and theyd never do that.
The sad part is... they really didn't have to do all that much. They could pretty much re-done what was already there in previous installments. But nope. Add Always-Online and... eh. And I had some hopes for it. Thanks for the review, it was really nicely done visually and was informative as well.
A real life location map that is at least comparable in size to TDU parts 1 and 2, island full of car dealership's/ clothing stores/ tune up/decal etc. shops/ houses that are fully customizable around the island to buy, garages to interact with at said houses, license tests/ off road and normal championships, all the cool side missions like picking up hitchhikers etc. etc. that's all they had to do, instead basically we get none of that.
The only reason I was hyped for TDU was due to the lifestyle element it had in previous games. The rags to riches lifestyle. Not starting the game in a super car but having to work for it. If that isn’t the case why would I not just play The Crew or Forza? With no Properties, no real customization and no out of race focus it just ain’t a TDU game imo.
Exactly. They left out almost everything that made TDU unique. I also loved TDU because of the things you described. There is no reason for me to buy this game. It's a shame because racing games have become more and more bland in recent years. A proper TDU would have been a great addition to the market...
@@blankblank1257 The odometer was AT ZERO IT WAS BRAND NEW and also in no world even if its the bare shell thats also crashed is a Lancia Delta going for 20 grand
They could of futurized TDU 1 and 2 and do the silly clan thing and kept houses and it would of been a hit, because its so different from whats out there!!! I was so excited . I played the demo for hours.. but something was missing.. TDU is missing.. TDU is missing. They should call this SOLAR CROWN LIMITED
Thank you for mentioning the radio. Didn't see anyone mention the lack of it so far. I guess the list is full of the things that previous games had or did better... I used to enjoy the music so much, and the witty commercials full of sarcasm would always get me 😂
I was thinking the same, it does fit into the theme of the ‘solar crown’ hiring out the entire island but it fits it too well and I don’t think that leads to a fun driving environment
the emptiness aspect was my biggest gripe of the gameworld. low traffic density and no pedestrians on such a densely populated island? especially with such wide streets, it feels so alienating. you feel like a survivor of a zombie apocalypse
Man I’m just going to say the traffic it’s there I don’t get the point about low traffic density it’s almost impossible to drive fast without swerving through traffic
in my opinion, they confused the game's main focus by combining many things from their competitors. TDU was all about the unique experience which we dont get in the usual racing games as it revolves around the lifestyle point of racers. But, they did not put much effort into these areas and focused solely on beating their competitors which is not a bad thing but the game loses its uniqueness during the process. We lost garages, player houses and other features that are so unique and made earlier TDU games very popular. We do not want plenty of races or offroad challenges, we want a game where we can drive the cars at slow pace and enjoy the car's features like roof mechanism or traffic driving while looking at the scenery. even though garages and houses are returning soon, TDU already reached a critical state which makes both features almost pointless as the game never logs us in the first place. i am a little disappointed by the clunky handling of the game than its optimisation. As being a racing game fan, i really hoped this game would directly compete with FH5 for the crown. these are all my opinions and i apologise if my assumptions are not correct. hope they fix the game soon before it hits rock bottom. apologise for writing a full book as a comment😂😂
there is no meaningful progression for you to make as a player either, you're immediately a guest in a rich hotel that pays for itself. why even bother with houses? TDU2 started you off in a shitty trailer. that gave you a motivation to not only get better cars, but also raise your own status to higher levels.
@@KankaWasTaken No it didn't and stop lying you and I did it cause we had nothing better to do and found it fun there was never "motivation" its a video game not real life
So many genres and franchises are in their golden age right now, and I feel like racing games are at their darkest of dark ages currently. Games as a service completely destroyed the single player racing game...
Everything feels off with the game. The UI looks to generic, cheesy/awkward cutscenes/voices, not so great character customization, poorly optimized, graphics could use a revamp, and everything looking futuristic/techy. It might seem like im hating on this game but I really want it to be great. I just feel like the game doesn’t have that essence like the other tdus. It was always the small details that made tdu what it is.I also wish that they would add satellite style maps with music similar to tdu2 to the game.
There is genuinely no other creator whose opinion on racing games I respect more than yours. I really appreciate videos like this, it plays a huge factor on if I buy certain games.
Even though I’ve bought the game and play it, I was still looking forward to this review. No flashy words or heightened emotions, just straight and to the point. An honest look and something with potential. Hokohoshi is the absolute best person to review a game like this.
@@markvanwalsem3201 Not at the moment wait until the end of October or November or Christmas if you want to wait longer for a sale probably but give this game a month or two
I cant understand how they managed to do so much wrong. What are devs these days doing? They had the answers to the test and still failed. I was so excited for this game….its just a shame.
Let’s see what happens in 6 months time. We’ll give them the benefit of the doubt. It’s not looking good at all. Needing to be online really hurts. Let’s see. I was going to buy a next gen console just for this game but won’t be doing that at the moment.
16:46 I played Crazy Taxi on Dreamcast the other day. Why does a 25 year old game can fill an open city with people and cars on the road at locked 60FPS on a 100$ console but TDU on a 4080 can't?
I feel you! I've been playing through Midnight Club 3 & LA recently and those games both have lively cities filled with pedestrians and dense traffic. Rockstar definitely knows how to create a world. I think there's often too big of a focus on making sure games are pretty screenshot simulators that look good in marketing, instead of focusing on the actual player experience. It's all about cranking up the graphics to sell something shiny instead of creating vibrant worlds and filling them with content.
I'll be honest, every racing game nowadays is always, for some godforsaken reason, trying to be a Forza Horizon game and this suffers from the same fate. Another thing I wanted to point out is that the car list feels... outdated. There's like 5 cars from 2021 or later. In my opinion, there should've atleast been something like a GR86, Ferrari 296/F8/SF90, 2024 Mustang just to name a few, but you can go on and on about this.
I'm kinda glad I held off and instead picked up the OG TDU and TDU 2 (your video helped push me to finally give it a try). Def a wait for a good sale game for Solar Crown by the looks of it
I’m not picking up TDUSC. I’ll keep it on my wishlist, and maybe in a year or so if they’ve updated it a lot, I might pick it up on a big steam sale. But after playing the demo, honestly the game just isn’t that great and the release doesn’t look any better.
"Doesn't quite live up to its predecessors" is quite the understatement considering the game has been unplayable since launch, because they decided always online was the route to go. Incompetency at its finest.
@thegreatpoo2electricboogal318 It was completely unplayable for the first couple days on all platforms, couldn't log in, and when I did finally manage to get in, the races would put me in an infinite loading screen. After that, I was okay with just cruising the map with my boyfriend, but the friends list and invites did not work. We couldn't play together, we couldn't do races, there was no way to actually play the game. We refunded. We'll come back when the game is in a deep sale, if it ever gets fixed.
compared to its main rivals like forza and motorfest the car list is sad i love to see some american suvs and off roads trucks like bronco raptor and i loved to have seen some early 2000 cars and 1980 and 1990 cars i do like some part of the car like sound when they start thier engines but i do hear they have plans of adding body kits and aero down the line i do love the massive map of hki also some cars sadly have forza style copy paste engine sounds hki map compared to forza is so much better but would i reckomend the game not at this moment maybe down the line
The truth is that this map would be perfect for an illegal street racing game, not for TDU, which had a giant paradise island as its DNA. This game misses fundamental things that differentiated TDU from the competition
that's exactly why I roll my eyes on games like The Crew 1 and NFS 2015 like plague back in the day, and showed little interest with Driveclub due to being one of those games that can be played offline at that time
From what I've noticed, the PS5 version runs like it's a PS4 and if we're talking about failed ports, it could also launch it on PS4 because it's already obvious that you can't say that PS5 doesn't have the power to run the game, it's just poorly optimized. And that's still true on PS4 too
It’s so jarring seeing a giant modern dense city with no pedestrians walking around. It feels like they just forgot to add people to the city but you can find people in the hotel and clubs which is weird.
No, the game doesn't lack fidelity, it lacks style. It feels worse because everything is so cold, saturated and corporate looking. There's zero flare to it.
The biggest problem for me with this new TDU is that it gives literally zero reasons to play this over Horizon, the same as The Crew Motorfest. These are all open world carfest racing games with almost no differences. If it at least had some more elements similar to the old TDUs I'd be more interested in it. Idk why all of these open world racing games goal seems to be to imitate Forza Horizon if they're just going to end up being slightly different or worse versions of it.
Well all cars are tuned for street first these days. Heck my R33 GTR did 180 km/h in 3rd gear. My Civic Type R really needed to shift to make it move, no point and shooting. Can’t remember which modern Porsche I saw but it did like 120 km/h in 2nd gear.
Well if the online only aspects or outreagously high system requirements weren't a deal breaker, the lack of JDMs definitely is. While it's fitting for a game made in europe to feature mostly european cars, only THREE japanese cars in a car game is completly insane to me, super cars are soulless to me. Back to Assetto.
> 3 Asian Cars > 1 happens to be hailing from the Middle East (Fenyr Supersport) > the GT-R we get in TDUSC is deprecated so hard yet priced as much as a mid class supercars like Ferrari 812 Superfast for example
Japanese cars are overrated and this is coming from a guy with a 240Z an S14 Silvia and an RX-7 Spirit R so you should maybe trust me now if you don't mind me I'm off to drive my G wagon in TDU SC
I criticized another channel for giving this a slight recommendation, and I'm shocked to see you doing it too. Maybe I'm wrong here, but I feel its a cash grab nowhere near what was promised. The Steam reviews reflect my experience - even without technical issues it doesn't seem halfway ready for release. But I concede that it could just be fun anyway for some people
Totally agree. Had a server issue when I was trying to buy a car, logged in the next day and I had 2 Audi's and apparently no way to get rid of one of them. I was honestly completely baffled when I found out there is no way to get rid of cars.
I disagree with Hoki's take and actually agree with yours, but calling him a shill for taking a rosier view on things says a lot less about him than it does about you.
This is literally like TDU2 its started out bad and will hopefully get better say what you want I am not willing to admit this game is gonna stay like this
After playing both, I got a refund for TDUSU and kept CarX Street. It's only $22 compared to $80+ for TDUSU and somehow, it can look just as good as and even in some occasions better than TDUSU without the need of a super computer even though it is essentially an upscaled mobile game. CarX Street doesn't have pedestrians either but can feel alive due to VERY HIGH traffic density which is also adjustable to your liking. The map is better overall as well as it somehow feels much bigger even though it's actually smaller. WAYYYY more customization as well as event types and things to do like delivery missions, car delivery missions, time trials, leaderboards, etc. It just has proper vibes (especially at night) that we haven't seen since the NFS Underground/Midnight Club days of the early 2000's. Legit feels like a mash of NFS Underground 2, Midnight Club and Juiced. Even though it's also an always online game (which I hate), they at least had the decency to add a "offline" mode which is essentially a solo mode for solo players to enjoy the game at their own pace aka no queing for races ever. Such a shame as I was one of the defenders of TDUSU before launch and even after the beta demo but man they REALLY blew it IMO.
The small amount of cars from Asia is such a strange decision, especially considering they have a massive dealership dedicated to it where they just display the same two cars in different locations 😂 And then there's the progression, the always online, and various other things holding the game back. This is actually a fully fledged TDU game in that it has a really promising map which they've ruined by bad game design decisions.
People was only saying that because of Forza fanboys trashing the game before release they were just defending the game but even in this state it’s the best game PlayStation players ever had as Forza Horizon rival it’s right on par in detail but as far as optimization it’s not there yet
@@redhunnid5142 this game on consoles is not close to Forza Horizon 5 in terms of graphics detail or optimisation. The console versions of Solar Crown don't come close to PC, it look worse than some 360 and Xbox One games. It barely even functions online. It has a metacritic score for PS5 of 50/100, 40/100 user score, and 2.07 out of 5 on the PS Store. How can you say this when Crew Motorfest is on PS5? And even that isnt as good as Horizon 5 in some few aspects, though it comes much closer.
i mean, this is what I kinda hate the most about games nowadays. i was reaaaally excited about this, i loved TDU as a kid so much, but dont even try to tell me that this game is supposed to be TDU, and dont even try to tell me that this is anywhere close to being finished so basically we waited all this time just to find out that maybe, in a couple of years, maybe this game will be "alright" i guess
It has an Alfa Romeo MiTo though 👀 The environment in general looks super pretty and I like the city setting but this is definitely one I'm going to wait for some more patches and a big sale before buying myself. I'm especially relying on the Devs to implement fixes for the optimisation and servers, I was fully expecting some server issues at launch but definitely not as bad as it actually was. The optimisation seems to be barely changed from the Demo despite what the Devs claiming it was an outdated build which is very discouraging unfortunately. Outside of fixes though I do hope they change their mind on the region locked servers too. It's quite possibly the most stupid idea for a modern game I've ever encountered especially considering that online is the focus of this title. The only thing I can think of in support of the region locked servers is a means to help with the load at launch and the weeks after but we all know that has already been a colossal failure. I also really dislike the depreciating rewards for repeating races, its cool to have a bonus for the first time and then a slightly lower amount afterwards but having it constantly decrease every time just discourages me from actually playing the game and doing the races I like. I do hope that despite the relatively poor reception to the game's launch it gets the support it deserves to improve the experience and then bring more varied content. My biggest fear with this title is that Nacon decide to cut their losses and reduce investment in the game's development or even cancel future plans completely.
had nothing against the MiTo itself but why in the God's name the models we're as accurate as Forza with JDM cars such as Nissan Silvia S15 this is more apparent with cars like Audi Q7, VW Beetle, Ford Mustang Fastback, Nissan GT-R R35 (CBA), Ferrari Enzo, and the infamous Mercedes SLK 55 AMG R171, where like I said, their models we're as impeccable as Forza when it comes to older cars
With the Stikes going on right nao, Im not surprised about hearing the the lack of quality. These devs were treated like crap and here is the result. Sad it doesnt work on the steam deck. I hope that this game doesnt wind up dead before it can actually get the chance....
Its such a shame for the way the game was launched with its server problems but besides that I find the game super fun and I'm actually addicted. Im getting the same vibes from tdusc as I did when forza horizon 2 came out.
Thats the thing, if feels like forza. Every AAA racing game released these days feels like a dogshit clone OF Forza. Online Only and Microtransactions/Season Passes Forced Multiplayer Dogshit Matchmaking No houses Obby looking bland "Festival-Themed/Inspired" "Season Update/Drip-Feeding due to incomplete mess and bugs" Mid as fukk story (ChatGPT could generate a better plotline) Honestly, I give up.
That's the problem. If it says TDU on the box, I want TDU and nothing else. The rest of the game can be as good as it wants to be. They promised a TDU but didn't deliver. That's another trend I hate. Not just with games. Taking a well-known franchise and making something completely different out of it...
Leveling takes hours, modding your car can result in Loading Save Game loops until you fix your game in steam, Disconnects, “Failed to save” message popping up every 20 seconds (especially fun in races), Graphics and reflections that are not only unrealistic but also buggy, bad optimization, 2000 different variants of the Audi R8 instead of other cars and brands, NPC’s don’t know hot to take corners in free roam and just drive into oncoming traffic, XP sometimes not being added to your level and the list goes on… this game needs a TON of work to be remotely called “Fun” Bonus : Online only so if the game servers will eventually close there will be no way to play it … NICEEEE
Translated by Google: What driving games need is "cities" but big, dense cities. It's quite annoying that in other driving games one part is city while the rest is empty. It's fine to add vegetation, mountains, forests, towns, etc. to give variety to the map, but what we want are cities. Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown along with CarX Street both have large, dense cities.
They really fucked it up. 13 years. Dropped promises 13 years ago and a total disappointment 13 years later. I can confidently say they're not getting a penny from me and I'm done with the TDU series. Worst part? Not a surprise, given everything about the modern gaming model is fucking worthless to the consumer and caters investors over anything. Fuck em.
8:33 look at the repetition in buildings followed in the next seconds by the pop-in or randomly changing lighting on the buildings. That's really bad. Even GTA4 (which is from 2008 mind you) did this way better. I was so hyped when I heard there was going to be a sequal to TDU. But this is just sad. Sorry but I'm skipping this one.
Sad thing is, none of today's open world racing games go for driving realism.... We've been racing through non-existent light gates through the streets for the last 30+ years. Remember the original Test Drive from 1987?? Just two cars on an open road racing each other. Back then it was the right direction, and it should be today. But now everything is made for fckn 8yo kids.....
i was so excited for this ever since they first announced it, however after trying the test build from a few months back and seeing how it is now it just makes me sad. This game is a cruel joke and another confirmation that a lot of modern games don't know what they're doing and don't care about it either as long as it rakes in cash. Say what you will about CarX street and it's AI stuff which was not cool, at least the game ran somewhat well and i had fun with it and still do, for now TDU solar crown is a hard pass and i doubt that that will change, Always online already made me iffy and there's not really much to the game that could outweigh that con for me since it's not like the game really even is all that good so far and the things they've announced just feel like padding and them trying to dish up an under baked pie and call it finished. It's just such a sad thing to behold
hey, just so you know, that "comically large shadow" at 8:20 ish is because of the game's implementation of temporal anti-aliasing (including temporal upscalers like dlss, fsr 2) lots of games have similar artifacting issues due to the same tech
It's been an interesting experience so far, I feel like my money wasn't wasted on the pre-order. Definitely a challenging game to complete, wait until you see the tasks at Level 60,lol
Making a modern game that’s region locked is a JOKE. They better fix that. I played with my friends across the pond on TDU2 but I can’t do that now? Trash.
These new racing game make me mad cuz they make FH5 look superior. I really missing a bit of role-playing and a good progress in an arcade racing game. FH5 has +800 car but feels empty and boring. The worst Forza Horizon and now the worst TDU...
All they had to do was refine the formula TDU2 had started, no pseudo-futuristic themes or always online GAAS bullshit.

Basically it’s like any other racing game being released today and they’re using the TD brand to sell copies.

Test drive limited. That's exactly what it feels like compared to the last two TDUs

There is no reason for me to buy this game. in my opinion, they confused the game's main focus by combining many things from their competitors.

Always online. That'll be a no then. I was hoping it would be more TDU2.
I'll be honest, every racing game nowadays is always, for some godforsaken reason, trying to be a Forza Horizon game and this suffers from the same fate. Another thing I wanted to point out is that the car list feels... outdated. There's like 5 cars from 2021 or later. The truth is that this map would be perfect for an illegal street racing game, not for TDU, which had a giant paradise island as its DNA. This game misses fundamental things that differentiated TDU from the competition
A racing game being always on is an instant no for me despite how fun it might be
that's exactly why I roll my eyes on games like The Crew 1 and NFS 2015 like plague back in the day, and showed little interest with Driveclub due to being one of those games that can be played offline at that time
From what I've noticed, the PS5 version runs like it's a PS4 and if we're talking about failed ports, it could also launch it on PS4 because it's already obvious that you can't say that PS5 doesn't have the power to run the game, it's just poorly optimized. And that's still true on PS4 too

They had one job - give the players an authentic Test Drive experience. This feels like a lazy, disingenuous imitation
Is this the new: " your pc is nice but can it run TDU Solar Crown?" Joke?
Test Drive Limited AF ,the map of roads is incredible and would be usable with 'Import 3 of yo Forza motors to hoon the shreddage' with next update.
The tuning features surprised me, if it wasn’t there that would be a dealbreaker for me as most cars are geared too long out of the box.
> 3 Asian Cars
> 1 happens to be hailing from the Middle East (Fenyr Supersport)
> the GT-R we get in TDUSC is deprecated so hard yet priced as much as a mid class supercars like Ferrari 812 Superfast for example

Each time I quit the game I lose some of my progress.
The small amount of cars from Asia is such a strange decision, especially considering they have a massive dealership dedicated to it where they just display the same two cars in different locations 😂
And then there's the progression, the always online, and various other things holding the game back.
This is actually a fully fledged TDU game in that it has a really promising map which they've ruined by bad game design decisions.
People really claimed this game could dethrone Forza Horizon lmao
People was only saying that because of Forza fanboys trashing the game before release they were just defending the game but even in this state it’s the best game PlayStation players ever had as Forza Horizon rival it’s right on par in detail but as far as optimization it’s not there yet
@@redhunnid5142 this game on consoles is not close to Forza Horizon 5 in terms of graphics detail or optimisation. Pro tip, if you hate the weird shadow below the car it can be easily fixed by turning off TAA (set FSR 2 to off)
i mean, this is what I kinda hate the most about games nowadays. i was reaaaally excited about this, i loved TDU as a kid so much, but dont even try to tell me that this game is supposed to be TDU, and dont even try to tell me that this is anywhere close to being finished
so basically we waited all this time just to find out that maybe, in a couple of years, maybe this game will be "alright" i guess
Removed from my wish list, It's just not a TDU game. All I see is another live service game with a battlepass and a roadmap that will lead to nowhere.
It has an Alfa Romeo MiTo though 👀
The environment in general looks super pretty and I like the city setting but this is definitely one I'm going to wait for some more patches and a big sale before buying myself.
Imagine playing so many races that the game stops paying you outright because the depreciation reached the max to payouts of 0 Cr.
had nothing against the MiTo itself but why in the God's name the models we're as accurate as Forza with JDM cars such as Nissan Silvia S15
this is more apparent with cars like Audi Q7, VW Beetle, Ford Mustang Fastback, Nissan GT-R R35 (CBA), Ferrari Enzo, and the infamous Mercedes SLK 55 AMG R171, where like I said, their models we're as impeccable as Forza when it comes to older cars
The f i pay for my game and then i have to pay for battlepass too so i can play better? Is this some kinda of a joke?
as someone who loves to cruise around in racing/car games, i wish they would do a traffic density feature like how carx street did
This game is so fun! I love it!
Online Only and Microtransactions/Season Passes
Forced Multiplayer
Dogshit Matchmaking
No houses
Obby looking bland
"Festival-Themed/Inspired"
"Season Update/Drip-Feeding due to incomplete mess and bugs"
Mid as fukk story (ChatGPT could generate a better plotline)
Honestly,
I give up.
I’m not buying ANY always online game after the crew.. plus you can’t mod
They lost a purchase the moment I heard it was online only and pvp only.
They ignored what made a TDU game and TDU game just made a Horizon clone
That's the problem. If it says TDU on the box, I want TDU and nothing else. The rest of the game can be as good as it wants to be. They promised a TDU but didn't deliver. That's another trend I hate. Not just with games. Taking a well-known franchise and making something completely different out of it...
Leveling takes hours, modding your car can result in Loading Save Game loops until you fix your game in steam, Disconnects, “Failed to save” message popping up every 20 seconds (especially fun in races), Graphics and reflections that are not only unrealistic but also buggy, bad optimization, 2000 different variants of the Audi R8 instead of other cars and brands, NPC’s don’t know hot to take corners in free roam and just drive into oncoming traffic, XP sometimes not being added to your level and the list goes on… this game needs a TON of work to be remotely called “Fun”
Bonus : Online only so if the game servers will eventually close there will be no way to play it … NICEEEE

What driving games need is "cities" but big, dense cities.
For the shadow under the car, in other racing games, if you change anti aliasing, that fixes that issue
I will argue that TDU1 on the Hardcore mode felt pretty realistic and nice, almost like a Forza Horizon
I thought there was supposed to be big mansions to buy and a casino snd whatnot?
A more appropriate name would be test drive limited
There are more traffic cars than there are satisfied players
I'm guessing there is no more home ownership.
Not yet
Honestly, if we could have the handling from this game in TDU2, add some graphics enhancements mods, done, best TDU ever
this actually exist. and there is still multiplayer available via mods.
@@kennythemeat I know about the mods but handling fixed as well?
@@falmatrix2r last time i checked they talked about to do that. so i guess handling is WIP...
@@kennythemeat well I guess it’s a “race” between what comes first, updates for this game or the handling mod lol
hey, just so you know, that "comically large shadow" at 8:20 ish is because of the game's implementation of temporal anti-aliasing (including temporal upscalers like dlss, fsr 2)
lots of games have similar artifacting issues due to the same tech
It's been an interesting experience so far, I feel like my money wasn't wasted on the pre-order. Definitely a challenging game to complete, wait until you see the tasks at Level 60,lol
Test Drive Limited: Solar Cringe
Making a modern game that’s region locked is a JOKE. They better fix that. I played with my friends across the pond on TDU2 but I can’t do that now? Trash.
They should’ve just made this game with unreal engine 5 to save all the engine development time and gave us TDU2 in Hong Kong pretty much
They probs didn’t wanna pay epic money to use the engine.
These new racing game make me mad cuz they make FH5 look superior. I really missing a bit of role-playing and a good progress in an arcade racing game. FH5 has +800 car but feels empty and boring. The worst Forza Horizon and now the worst TDU...
