While analyzing the fox/falco mu with ibdw, PPMD said that playing the match-up from the other side teaches you what options are really annoying for the other side to deal with and can inform your play when you switch back
Man, your channel has seriously helped me get my own mental game in check. You've done a fantastic job explaining things in a digestible way. Keep up the sick content, dude.
I dont even play Melee but watch all your recent videos, I think they have a lot of wisdom that can be applied through other crafts in life like drawing or even just life in general.
As a doc main, Falcon is really hard but I played Falcon for a whole week grind and realized that if you can anticipate his cross up aerial’s to grab, you can actually handle him just fine with multiple counters. Stand by this advice! And as always, great vid!!!
pika player here. can confirm dat playing marth n sheik as my secondaries rlly helped me to overcome those MUs since ik where they can threaten nd what general options they're looking for :)
this vid is a great explanation of why i play marth and falco, but also KIRBY! kirby reminds me why i love melee and he's a very challenging character to stick with at a high-mid level. kirbs has most notably made my approaching and punishing game much faster, and i make much higher risk/reward reads more often on my other characters after having played enough Kirby vs fox/falco/falcon/sheik/jiggs. A properly played falco kirby is scary... and for some reason i feel much greater positivity when i'm grinding kirby! another bonus is i'm able to endure laggier or more cheesey opponents a lot better! i feel like i can have more fun with people who aren't playing so seriously now that i'm a kirby main in friendlies.
Imo whenever you start to find that MU as a major struggle for you in bracket. I think once you have a well established gameplan with your main, it’s wise to gain other perspectives or styles from other characters.
Hard to say an exact point. Probably any point once you have the basics of the game down and just here and there. Just shouldnt be to the point where your spending more time with other chars than your own
Theres not really an exact "right time". Just dont be afraid to mess with other characters here and there. If im getting bored or autopiloting with falcon during longer sessions, i might play a different char for like 15-20 mins just to have some fun and get back into it

I like how he removes the tag from his opponents to respect their privacy
I’m not seeing what you’re seeing, the tags are definitely there
Edit: Just realized you meant the slippi unranked games, not the tournament matches 👍

You probs don't remember me, but just want to say your vids are sick, homie.

Wake up babe new play better melee episode
Why does this have less than 1k views???? This vids amazing
I never thought there was that kind of deeper purpose to secondary. I just played secondaries that were fun when my main got repetitive or frustrating
Liked for M2 👽👽👽

"playing an actually bad character can remind you of the strengths your main has" im a game and watch main :(
i wanna be just like you joey :)
Good video. When do you think a player is at the level where they can benefit from experimenting with secondaries?

You are dope, my man.
