    • @Justice-ef9sk
      @Justice-ef9sk ปีที่แล้ว +17

@@craig162 I left a very long comment saying the same thing you just did regarding the "concerned son." 🙄And I understand it's sad that senior citizens are being evicted but then again people are forgetting a few things, like the fact that YES this IS a fire hazard, YES this IS a huge horde that brings in all kinds of nasty things such as rodents, bugs, even disease.... ALL of these things not only endanger THIS couple, but what about the health and safety of others living in this complex? Aren't THEY also somebody's parents or grandparents? And let's talk about the rent arrearage- what's up with that? They both make enough to cover the rent, the news report confirmed it. This is a low-income housing facility that they both can afford, so why are they behind? Nahhh, I'm sorry, and I'm sure I'll get attacked for saying this, but this "poor couple" here have been behaving quite irresponsibly, and now they expect everyone to feel sorry for them and blame everyone else for their actions....🤨
As I said in my other comment, look at it this way:
Would any of you viewers want YOUR parents or grandparents living next door to these two? Hmmmm?....
      I wouldn't.

  • @darlenelipuma7769

These two people should be in assisted living housing, not on their own. Cleaning up is just one aspect of daily life. Bathing, getting groceries, making meals, etc are all sometimes too much for seniors. I hope these people can find someone to help them.

Assisted living is not cheap, I paid $4,500 for 18 months after my coma(5 months) , Brain aneurysm with brain surgery in 3 places. Open heart, hysterectomy ( they thought I had cervical cancer) This is fire hazard. They are behind 3 months of $400& change , if they can’t pay that? No way they can pay any part of assisted living. I paid $1,000 extra for nursing care, $3,500 for room. It’s dbl that now. It’s the son, not management. My mom loved angels and stuffed animals, living in senior building. Every time she was in hospital or out the apartment, I was throwing a bag out , smh

they should clean after themselves, too. That mountain of trash didn't happen over night. Same with their weight, both morbidly obese. They did it to themselves. They'd never make it out if the place caught on fire, might kill the neighbors, too. This is 100% unsafe and 100% preventable. The son called the news, why didn't he help clean that stuff up. I saw a dozen folded up shopping bags lined up, those could catch fire in a second. They'll clean now, since they have to move. They created this problem for themselves.

Agree. It really is. (As I was growing up, it was the adult children who brought their elder parents into their homes for their remaining years.) My grandmother actually gave up her bedroom so her mother could have it when they had to sell the farm. My grandmother made her room in the attic from that day forward. It's a true way of life for generational love. I too brought my parents into my home when they became ill and couldn't take care of themselves. As I had been a single mom for years, and worked two jobs, I made it work. I wouldn't have had it any other way. (But today, so many just think parents are in their way and an inconvenience. It's heartbreaking. God love this couple. May God Bless this couple and find them the help they need. In Jesus name. Amen. Heartbreaking.

Wow , this is so sad .
A lady I know was evicted from her housing authority 3 bedroom home .
    She was a horrible hoarder!
They gave her sooooo many chances ! Went to court many times , neighbors and her kids helped , but it was last a week or 2 .
But the crazy part is , that she was allowed to keep 2 foster kids ! A new born , then his sister . Social workers seen the condition of the house but still let the kids stay there !!!
Long story short , while she was in court for the millionth time, they cleaned out her house . She came home to nothing .
She can't say they didn't give her a chance !
    Hoarding is a mental illness.
I wonder if this couple's son tried to help get the house in order ?
Hoarders will fight and raise Cain when you try to get rid of their stuff that the really don't need and needs to be thrown out because of bad condition.
I pray for this couple that they will get the help they need .
Most times , landlords will not rent to people who are known hoarders and do not pay their rent .

If anyone put themselves and us at risk of fire, pests, and don’t even pay rent while we’re paying a mortgage, I’d want them out. I get it- tug at peoples’ heartstrings and ask landlords to turn a blind eye to hoarding & hazards and let them live there for free while struggling to pay the mortgage. Omg. This is hoarding. As a 66-year-old with aches and pains, including both bad knees not yet replaced, I clean intermittently as well as I can as I can’t stand for long periods of time. I used to be able to cut grass and bushes for hours at a time… now only 30 minutes at a time, but I get the job done. I see the future. Our children shouldn’t be left with the clutter to clean up. That’s why I’m doing it now so they won’t. I’m surprised that people allow themselves to get into this situation. NOT shame on their son, he shouldn’t have been left to fix this. Speaking as a nearly disabled person who’s had 3 stents implanted in 2 procedures within 4 days - 4/15/18-4/18/18. Husband is totally disabled.

I totally understand the work a little...then have to sit down and rest...then get up and do a little bit more.....I have to do that myself on bad days. And from the looks of the inside of that apartment...they NEED HELP!! Clutter has to be REMOVED....not moved...or the problem never leaves. Neither of them are able to haul anything off...so the clutter is still there. If they were my neighbors...I would have gladly helped them....even if I myself cannot move fast. This is uncalled for and I don't get why the son could not help them clean the place up. He owes them THAT much...they are his parents. Kids should ALWAYS step in when their parents need help.

If paramedics were called for serious health issue they cannot get a stretcher in /unable to get access to the person because of the hoarding/clutter that person could die. Same scenario if a fire broke out and fire rescue could not get them out in time due to clutter. All they have to do is reach out to a church and free help would have come. She also hoarded the apartment she was forced to live in after her home was too full of stuff. I won't even go into the huge storage units she had. It took me, my husband, my 2 girls, my sister and her husband 2 years to clear it all up. Housing has very strict rules. They are in place to protect the tenants of the building or complex free from all types of vermin and rodents as Well as fire hazards. After the first time that they failed. The son or they should have found someone to come in and help clean that mess up. I get they are disabled. I am also. I live in housing so I also understand the rules. If these Apts aren’t kept up the costs are high for housing and other tenants in terms of bed bug control (and that is a huge problem) as well as roaches, mice, spiders and anything else that thrives in a place that’s that dirty/messy. It’s a huge inconvenience for other tenants who then end up with said vermin because of it. The housing here has done nothing wrong and it’s unfortunate but their son needs to be more involved or hire services for them in the future and see what other help their insurance may provide. My housing also has a three strike policy for this situation. And it’s not their responsibility to clean or provide cleaning services for us. It’s clearly stated in our lease what we need to do to keep the apt. It’s only fair to every other tenant living there.

I'm an apartment manager and manage over 100 units. My community is market, not low-income, so I know it's a different situation. But sadly, there seems to be more to this story than we see here. Yes, they are disabled and yes, they are seniors, but it does seem like this has been an on-going issue with housekeeping that went on for a while. I'm sure they tried, but unfortunately due to fair housing you have to have rules in place and treat everyone consistently. Housekeeping rules are in place to protect the residents (in the event of a fire or medical emergency), other neighboring apartments (insect activity and smell) and the property itself. It's so sad and heartbreaking. I wish someone in their family, perhaps their son, had hired someone to help them clean up and clean out to meet the standards that were being required of them. And if they didn't want to part with their belongings, it was their family's job to try and make them understand what was at stake. We don't know that it didn't happen, but it doesn't seem like it. Between this and back owed rent, the housing authority had probably run out of options and had no choice but to act. This is the worst part of the job, without a doubt.
