Been really enjoying your videos the last few weeks, I love the focus on martial arts manga! One piece of input - I understand why you do the panning/zooming movement across images, but it's a bit chaotic with all the movement and makes it difficult to appreciate the pages as a whole. I'm excited for more content in the future!
One day just randomly stumbled on your channel and I have been a fan ever since. You're quickly becoming one of my favorite creators. Keep up the good work G
If anyone is curious in how to pronounce "Batouque". You gotta pronounce each syllable instead of prouncing it "batook" Ba-Tou-Que the "tou" is pronounced the way you prounce the "to" in "together" and the que is the similar to how you would say the "ke" in "key Im Brazilian and I love that my national and culturaly rich martial art is so beloved in Japan. Thanks for the video dude.
Of course it is! The Gracie borrowed the jiujitsu from the japanese people and adapted it. But nowdays, the best grappler is american (Gordon Ryan) top brazilians nowdays are Mica Galvao and Baby Shark in my opinion.

Batuque also looks interesting, I don't know that much about Capoeira so it will definetly be a fun and also educational read for sure. Thanks a lot 🫡✌️

I recently got out of a wheelchair and have been continuing developing my own martial art. I was always more of a grappler than a striker, from standing at least. Now that my disabilities have limited me to only certain grappling moves, I've combined many elements of Shuai Jiao, Chin Na (Chinese Joint locking), and a small amount of Japanese Jujutsu as well as some Wrestling. I feel that I've finally reached a point where I can properly teach others and have been teaching others and hope to teach a class of my own one day, or at least write a book where the characters use the style I've developed since I'm also a writer and if that doesn't work I will just have to hire an artist to make a comic out of it, but it's my dream to teach martial arts for the purpose of self-defense as well as personal growth through training. I don't really have a fancy name for it, I just call it Self-Defense Grappling. (S.D.G.) The main struggle will be getting students who are willing to learn from a 32-year-old who walks with a cane even though I can teach without one. I've trained in seven other martial arts both striking and grappling, but I've condensed what works for me and what is effective as well as something not too difficult to grasp, which I feel are two very important things when it comes to self-defense: Keeping it simple and making it effective. It's the culmination of all the struggles I've been through so far and I'm never giving up now that I have the chance to make it a reality again! In a way it's my own martial arts journey and my Berserk-esque struggles rolled together, I guess. Anyway, wish me luck, guys!
Have you read "Real" by Inoue? If yes how would you rate it especially on the psychology of being in a wheel chair? I have found it extremely easy to empathize with disabled people in wheelchairs but I wondered if Inoue was able to nail down the mentality of such a person, or was he idealizing it in one way or the other.
@@nearlyrighteouslad3213 well, it really depends. Especially because brazil is so big, every region has its own marks of culture, pronunciation and obviously, how they use words.
