When she cares for what she's doing, she's pretty stellar. But I think she got a little bit lazy in the later seasons, except for a few scenes here and there like this one
Honestly, them being mean to and hating Penny for Derek's death always pissed me off. It wasn't her fault. She tried telling multiple people they need to do a CT and they all ignored her. If they had listened to her, its a good chance derek would still be alive.
I think it's because based on history clearly Meredith or Christina or Izzy or even Alex or Bailey would have found a way around it and did it anyway. Penny waited for the on call Doctor for like 2 hrs . So it was hrs of Derek just laying there bleeding into his brain

This is why Sound Of Silence is my favorite episode. In the beginning you see them in a lab that Meredith is teaching and Penny is afraid to put her hand up to answer the question because she does know what she’s talking about but I’m sure she’s got some ptsd from the night Derek died. She did the best SHE could do that night. During the episode, Meredith gets attacked while working a case that Penny was her assigned intern. Penny stayed on her case and helped her out when she cut the wiring in her mouth so she could breathe. Avery can be mad about it all he wants, but Penny stepped up and advocated for her patient (not that she didn’t do that for Derek, she was just surrounded by idiots imo). By the end of the episode, they’re back in the lab and Penny’s hand shoots up first. Not only does this episode build back Penny’s confidence in being a doctor, but it also strengthens the relationship/mentorship between Penny and Meredith.

The chances of getting a settlement again a hospital is very small because they only need to claim they don’t have to do anything, which is what happens here.
Also she works there to suing her place of work with people she considers her family is a bad work ethic plus if you remember she technically owns the hospital her shares are in it as well as her sister who died and was named later on in the hospital with the others who died in the plane crash
I really need to watch the rest of this. I started from day one but work schedule caused me to stop watching it. But I'm so many years behind I don't know if I ever will watch it again. I hope so one day maybe when I retire if it's still on Netflix or something

Its so much worse when you remember the episode when Derek died. You hear his internal monologue while it is all happening. He agrees with the decisions the doctor made. If he had been his own doctor, the outcome would have been the same.
