- 33 days and 500 miles later, I honestly wasn't sure I was ready to finish the Camino de Santiago in Santiago de Compostela. But, I continued onward, managing to find a few laughs and even more surprises along the way. This solo Camino journey taught me so much about compassion, commitment, and self-confidence. When you watch this video, I hope you'll feel some of the magic I did, and be inspired to walk your own Camino someday, too 🤍

"But for me...I'm just savoring all the last moments of joy..." Love it. What a mindful, respectful choice that honors this life-altering accomplishment, Jen.
Glad you enjoyed watching it! ♥️ thank you so much for your kind words. It was exactly what I was feeling in that moment - just trying to soak it all up for as long as I could!
Jen, I have enjoyed all your videos on Camino. You were incredible and I loved the way you dealt with your challenges, amending your plan even when it wasn’t what you actually wanted; that’s life, isn’t it? Your appreciation for your experiences, the scenery, the ‘Where am I??’ was beautiful. Wishing you lots of joy in life and hoping my Camino is as good but minus the bedbugs; the thought of that does make me shudder…
Thank you so much I walked last year also 33 days myself too, you did a great job on video withy a real feel and taste of the Camino. I couldn't get over how in shape I got by the end of my Camino, I have tried to keep it up I am going back this May! Buen Camino
I watched all your videos along the Camino Jen and I’m so impressed with your attitude to life and your honesty.Your videos are amazing .I will continue to follow you from Ireland and I hope to do the last 100 km of the Camino into Santiago some day .Good luck in all your life adventures. Slán leat means be safe and healthy in Gaeilge ☘️
Love your style of filmmaking! I paused halfway through this video and was reminiscing about my Camino for a good 30 minutes.. thank you :)
Those are eucalyptus trees w the peeling bark.
Fascinating!! Thanks for the info
Approaching Santiago…..”coming in hot”….love it! And, I knew, just watching it, getting to the cathedral….you’re going to cry. Can’t help it…because it’s such an emotional moment.
“Coming in hot!” 😂 there were so many funny moments leading up to finally arriving at the cathedral. And wow, the emotion of getting there was such a surprise!
Wow Jen thank you very much for your great video's, I am going to do it too in may 2024..I have been always afraid to do it, dont know why but still afraid....But after seeing your video's I know I will make it and i hope with the same good fibe you have given during the Santiago! You have been a great help in making my decision final! Thanks from the Hague Netherlands!
You can do it! I believe in you. The Camino has its good and bad days. But every day is a lesson. I’m excited for your journey coming so soon. If you have any questions, I’m here. Buen camino ✨
watching this video again, helps bring back the memories and the feeling of change, while my journey was shorter, it was still quite similar, I quickly went from a feeling of angst and uncertainty to feeling changed forever, and the days are going by fast can't wait to return in May 🙏 Buen Camino 😊
Thank you, Grazie, Gracious. We did El Camino April 2023 and we are going back June 2024 but to the Coastal route from Portugal. The joy, the land, hard times, the food, the friends ... WOW .... I wept. El Camino will provide. Buen Camino Jen.
Hi Jen.
First of all, congratulations for having completed El Camino de Santiago.
I am from Santiago de Compostela and this year will be, I hope, the first time I do the Camino de Santiago in my almost 50 years of age.
I really liked your naturalness and humility when expressing your feelings.
I hope you can return to Spain with your boyfriend, family, friends and enjoy our land and our people again.
Oh, by the way, I didn't know you had Galician origins.
Well, all the more reason you have to come back.
I wish you all the best and that you have UN BUEN CAMINO in your life.
God bless you.
Yes, it's true you do get stronger ❤
Thank you Jen!
I thought my wife would cry, but she didn't it's somehow more about the journey than the destination 🫶 going back...
So true… the end almost feels a bit anti-climatic and sad. The joy is really more in the journey of getting there.
dear wonderful Jen... I got hooked into your journey more and more, from one episode to the next... you said so many wise things on the way, and when you eventually got tearful in front of the cathedral, I got tearful too... I've walked it all twice, and once I followed through to Finisterre, which was awesome. I so relate to when arriving at the cathedral, of not really knowing how I feel... joyful, relieved, sad, empty... and yet so full - it all comes together, and all the felt emotions suddenly happen simultaneously... it just shows how immense and intense the whole journey really is... having watched you so much in the last few days, you feel like a peregrino sister... sending hugs, and may you keep the essence of what you experienced alive! Ultreya! 💖
Hi Jorn, Thanks so much for your wonderful comment. I'm so happy to hear you enjoyed watching and I'm really glad my journey resonated with you ❤️ That's so cool you made it to Finisterre - I hope to do that walk sometime in the future. Yes, there was a weird sadness mixed with joy when I reached Santiago - somehow, a monthlong adventure came to a close so rapidly.... thank you so much for your kind words, fellow peregrino! Big hugs, Buen Camino... Ultreia!! 🙌
Found your Frances videos Jen and pretty much binge watched them all. Your physical and spiritual transformation was very beautiful to watch. I’ve done the Portuguese Central from Lisbon last year and the Coastal from Porto in May this year, and have already booked my flight to do the Frances in April next year. Your vlogs have really increased my excitement for the Frances and it can’t come quick enough. Thanks for sharing your journey and showing other people the special journey that we know it is.
I will be doing the Coastal Way this coming May, @grahamwallce. How was it? Busy/not too busy? Rainy?
@@loreeraine7273 I was really lucky with the weather. Sunny and no rain. I walked on the coast as far as Caminha (I’d seen enough of the ocean by then) then headed inland along the Rio Minho to Valença/Tui. There were enough other pilgrims to make it interesting and sociable but getting a bed was no problem. After Redondela it got much busier, but I think that’s the case inside the last 100km whichever route you take. Hope you have a great time.
Thank you for watching 🙏 the Camino transforms - it’s beautiful how something as simple as walking can invite so much inner growth. I’m very interested in the Portuguese route. Glad to hear you will do the Frances coming up - would be interested in hearing how it goes! It is a beautiful path with many wonderful gems to explore along the way. I’m genuinely so touched by your comment and I’m grateful to have the opportunity to share my journey with this community. Buen Camino 🤍
Jen I have thoroughly enjoyed being a voyeur on your pilgrimage . If I am able after my dual transplants, I fully intend to follow your trip advice. I was first introduced to the pilgrimages of middle and eArly English literature in grad school and dreamed of retirement that included a pilgrimage for religious reasons for years. I'd love to see a budget for how a young woman could afford 33 days and airfare from LA to France including break downs of food and lodging and another on how you learned Spanish so well.
Thank you so much for following my journey! It means a lot to hear that my pilgrimage has inspired you. Your determination to do a pilgrimage on the Camino is incredible. Thank you for the video ideas -- I'll definitely take you up on those suggestions - they are great topics to discuss and I'd love to share. Stay tuned for more videos coming soon! 💜 Buen Camino ✨ 💖
💜 Thank you so much for documenting and sharing your beautiful journey. 💜
Thank you for following along and watching! 💜 💜
Fantastic! Going to have to do it again, Jen. Really felt your joy on this stage. You can take this transformation in your self-confidence and apply it to your personal and professional lives.
That’s so true. What I learned on the Camino, I have applied in the months since returning. It really does stay with you long-term. Thank you for following along this journey ♥️
Loved following your journey, Jen ♥
Thanks so much for following along! It means a lot ♥️ Buen Camino!!
Yes, Eucalyptus as somebody already said, I was familiar with those from Ecuador and we have them in California too, I'm enjoying your journey very much!
I learned something new today! They look SO cool with the bark peeling off like that.
Congratulations! That's quite an achievement. Thanks for bringing me along with you.
Thank you so much!! I'm really glad you enjoyed following along my journey and hope you found it helpful and inspiring. Buen Camino! ✨
Trees with bark peeling, eucalyptus.
They are so cool looking!
Wonderful set of videos. Well done Jen. It reminds me of my own Camino.
Thanks so much! ♥️ so glad it brings back memories for you.
Thanks, I’ve enjoyed your journey. I will be heading back and walking from St in late June. Buen Camino.
Late June will be so beautiful! Buen Camino! ♥️
I'm watching right now! Been waiting for your post ❤
Thank you SO much, Craig!! Would you believe we were just making the final edits and designing the thumbnail this morning 😃
Of course, I really enjoyed so much! I've actually been working on our flights for May this morning 😊
When was your camino? I was there in Sept and Oct and I feel like I recognize someone from one of your videos!
Amazing transformational and transcendent journey for you! So awesome to see you arrive at the end. Very excited for my own experience in 2025.
Thank you! It truly was a transformative journey. Are you walking the Frances or another route? Excited for you! Buen Camino!
Haven't decided yet on Portugues or Frances
Well done Jen!! Thanks for taking us along this journey :)
Trying the camino frances next year, together with our two dogs. Hopefully it will work 😁🙈
Greetz from Germany! Sascha + Bine (and Josie&Bounty)
Hi Sascha & Bine, thanks for your comment. Wow! That will be so much fun to walk with your dogs. What kind of dogs are they? 🤗 I hope you'll get some cooler weather on your journey!!
@@jenontherunn Hey Jen, one is a "MaltiPoo" (Malteser + Poodle) and the other is a Havanesian, both very small with round about 5kg and very couch potatoes 🙈 but we will have a hand-cart for them, to survive the long distances. Will be a great experiment and experience. We will try to document it 🙂
Hilarious 😂 we ate and eat Pulpo all across Spain, so good ❤ but we are also sushi 🍣 people.😊
😂 that pulpo moment was so funny - I’m so glad it translated to the video well too 🤪
I spent 3 nights in Santiago, what a great city 👏
Thanks for saying that! Not many people talk about what they do in Santiago, if they decide to stay a while. Can you list the highlights, @craigkimble1467?
@loreeraine7273 I will, but let me preface that with, restaurants and wandering and old city is the highlight for me.
@@loreeraine7273 Meson 42 was a favorite, but the nightlife/dinner time, the shopping, the bakeries, everything was just amazing, retail was alive and well, window shopping, numerous restaurants, and we did rent a car and do a day trip to Finesterre on the coast, very charming, had a type of paella 🥘 I like hanging out in the city for at least a few days and pretend like I live there and see what it feels like.
I was there for 2 nights and it was wonderful. Just like you said, lovely bakeries, restaurants, and shops. It’s great to stay longer than 1 or 2 days because you might run into people you’ve met earlier on the Camino. So fun bumping into each other again.
@jenontherunn very true, my wife ran into a few people she had met, and also the cities in Spain felt so safe, it was like going back to a simpler time, I know it's not perfect and they have a history like everywhere else, but it felt very civil and safe, when a woman can walk hundreds of miles and not be threatened it's beautiful, can't imagine that in the U.S. now 🤔
What was the name of the albergue around 5 - 6 minutes in? Looks like it would be a nice place to stay
It's Albergue La Fuente del Peregrino! lafuentedelperegrino.com/en/
