What is slow travel? It often means stepping away from typical tourist routines and diving into unique, immersive experiences. Instead of cramming countless activities into a hectic schedule, slow travel is all about adopting a mindset that prioritizes deep connections. But it can also mean choosing to use literally slow methods of transit, like taking the train or walking a pilgrimage.
Jen on the Run was born out of the belief that taking a leap of faith and venturing into the unknown helps us come out on the other side wiser and stronger. Exploring someplace a bit different from our own version of “normal” shapes us into conscious, well-rounded global citizens.

I am going this week!
The hotels, food, wine, scenery and parks are all spectacular!! What a great trip and beautiful part of California to visit. Love your humor and sincerity Jen!
Great video! Who are those people wine tasting with you? They are baddies
😂 They are great friends of ours!! They know all the best local spots in Santa Rosa! 🍇 🍷
Queen! You’re a straight up California Rock Star! 😂 I loved the stopping at Orisson, not booking the hostel (in Roncesvalles), and shipping your backpack (from day two)!!!! Yeah! You’re 100 percent Cali and I’m all about that life! I walked solo last year (for my 67th birthday). Thanks 🙏🏾 for documenting your journey! Buen Camino!
digging the videos...I'm from Hawaii but now live in Alicante, Spain and planning to do the Camino Frances in October because i don't want to roast. I'm having a feeling that it still might happen haha. Just curious what time of year did you do your trek? Not sure if you mentioned it in the videos i've watched. Love the content ;-) -Leo
Aloha, Leo! That's amazing you moved to Alicante. I've heard the best things and I've been meaning to check it out there. I bet early October is a good time to go. I went from mid-August to mid-September, and it was hot, hot, hot! Thanks for watching! 🙌 🤙
@@jenontherunn August, Brutal...i don't know how i'm surviving Alicante at the moment haha, but i think The Camino will be a bit more soggy for me. Anyway if you and your man yourself in Alicante on your next trip let me know..Ciao for now
Wow! I didn't even know this tram existed! Such a fun excursion if you're feeling brave in Palm Springs lol
It really is an amazing experience! The views from the tram are absolutely breathtaking. Definitely a bit nerve-wracking if you're afraid of heights, but personally, I think it's totally worth it!
thank you very much .
A joy to watch and listen to. Enjoy your youth and squeeze as much as you can into your life.
Thank you so much for watching! ✨

I have watched many 'series' of hiking the camino and yours has been one of my favourites, really entertaining and insightful. I chose to comment on this episode particularly because of the ( I am sure unintentional) slight of hand... 3:57 the glass goes up containing wine... and appears to come back down again containing water :)
Love the mask 😊
Thank you! 😜
Wow the colours!
I know, right! 😮
What an amazing place i never knew it existed! Live in uk. Incredible views, beautiful rocks and trees. Thanks so much for sharing x
Glad you enjoyed it! It's really a gem. If you make it out to Palm Springs sometime, I highly recommend if you love the outdoors! Thanks for watching and leaving a comment!
@@jenontherunn I doubt it love as in UK xx
Consider using injinji toe socks instead of or in addition to Vaseline. I did 200 miles on the Colorado trail with no blisters. However, my shoes had a wide toe box.
Yes! I bought those exact toe socks. I was undecided on how effective they were 🤷♀️ but for some people I've heard they work really well. The wide toe box may be the thing I need to try next time.
What a problem but great tips on how to minimize the issue. Thank you for addressing this issue Jen!!
Thanks for watching! I'm glad you found the tips helpful!
Being from the Palm Springs area I really enjoyed you highlighting one of the most spectacular places to visit! Breathtaking views of the San Jacinto Mountains and surrounding areas from above was truly beautiful. I will definitely say after the initial “blip” of fixing the tram, you are one brave person to have continued on this one. Thank you for sharing this video it made me smile!
The beauty of the rocks, trees, terrain and cool design of the stations both at the base and at the top is incredible! This is a definite must see when visiting Palm Springs. I’m sure it was scary to go up right after the repair work, but, it just added to the adventure!!!! Love your light hearted and fun personality! Thank you for a great video!
Jen, I have enjoyed all your videos on Camino. You were incredible and I loved the way you dealt with your challenges, amending your plan even when it wasn’t what you actually wanted; that’s life, isn’t it? Your appreciation for your experiences, the scenery, the ‘Where am I??’ was beautiful. Wishing you lots of joy in life and hoping my Camino is as good but minus the bedbugs; the thought of that does make me shudder…
Tourist go home
As I have discovered "head torches" are also very useful on plane flights when you drop something on the floor mid flight! and that's often when flying from Australia . We also wear hats because of the sun and I personally take 3 varieties on Camino. Great video thank you 🙂
It's going to get worse before it gets better. Mark my words.
Had to play this video in 2x speed.
>30yrs ago, while backpackiing europe, I purposing skipped your town because of all the stories of how busy you guys were (olympics 1992).. I can only imagine how bad it maybe now
We went to Spain, Madrid and Barcelona a few years ago, and stayed outside the tourist area. With public transport, there is no need to stay smack in front of the main square. It allowed us to go to small, family-owned restaurants, shops etc. It was great.
Tourists are a good source of income. Young people in Spain are experiencing a 23 % unemployment rate. Tourists provide them with jobs.
Seasonal jobs rely on EU subsidies to keep workers housed and eating during the low season.
Thank you for the video. It was a nice attempt to discuss the overtourism issue in Barcelona. However, I can't entirely agree with your advice on staying on Airbnb in Barcelona. We locals really dislike Airbnbs as they are one of the contributing factors to the increasing house prices. Even as a person who earns more than the average Spanish salary, I am struggling to rent, even a room, in Barcelona city centre, and Airbnbs are a major reason behind it.
Thanks for your input about Barcelona. When I do return to Barcelona, where would you suggest besides an Airbnb, hotel or Pension or
Airbnbs are regulated in Barcelona, so only properties with official licenses can engage in this business. However, not all of them are legal. That’s why house prices increase during the summer for short-term rentals. I recommend staying in legal, official accommodations like available hotels or hostels for your visit. If you really want to stay in someone’s house, perhaps you can try Couchsurfing instead of renting a short-term property that is not legal. If you cannot find a place like this for your stay at the moment, consider trying another time of the year to be a less hazardous visitor.
This was very interesting, thank you so much for sharing. I love to travel but find myself drawn to the local, lesser known or visited areas, it’s more authentic and you really get to know the people and the cultural.
I'm just starting to plan a trip to DC, and I am inspired by your video. Your honest and emotional reaction to the monuments, along with information on how long it took, is so helpful! THANKS!
Just over 4 years ago every place in the world was begging for tourists because of Covid. I believe the lack of being able to travel during Covid has been the main contributor to over tourism. Cheap flights and cruises that were offered to get business going again has had a ripple effect but in a bad well for locals.
It's crazy how things have changed in just a few years. Thanks for bringing up this point.
Live there for a while and you'll see it's not all that great. Maybe for a week holiday. It's short of water, it's filthy, it's dry and the air is horrible. The dogs bark all night on the roof tops, and people play their music very loud. It's nicknamed the city of fallen women as the sidewalks are big slippery cobble stone and many fall. It's a hard place to live. That's not including the cockroachs, scorpions, snakes. It's also extremely expensive. It gets old fast. And that's why I'm moving. The positive....art classes are incredible and very well priced, lots of food, expensive though, beautiful architecture....it gets old fast. Mostly retired seniors. Especially woman.
Yes true. It was named best city in the world. But since when ? 2016 ? 2017-18 ? But recently? Be more precise to what year please. I love it there. Nice video
Thank you for visiting our country and city we really appreciate it 😊
So amazing 👏 I haven't been there for many years, maybe 1998 😮
