Thanks for the review ... Curious if you have ever tried the Sea to Summit "Alpha Pan" (8" or 10") or the "X-Pan"? ... I enjoy your videos ... Thanks for posting and shearing them with us ...
Great review! I have been looking for a small pan to take car camping. I especially like that the Jetboil pan comes with a spatula. Speaking of spatulas, where did you get the metal spatula? It would work perfect with a portable grill that I have.
I got the metal spatulas on Amazon. Rada cutlery spatula: www.amazon.com/Rada-MFG-Cutlery-Serverspoon-R116/dp/B018C8K11O/ref=sr_1_34?crid=3TKPIU5HUU73G&keywords=Metal+spatula+small&qid=1672071989&sprefix=metal+spatula+small%2Caps%2C252&sr=8-34. You can also get them from FryBake if you want to support a small company(but it is more expensive). frybake.com/product/rada-serverspoon/
@@backcountrycuisine6226 I ordered the ones on Amazon on the 18th. I am waiting for them to be delivered. I also ordered the plastic ones to use on non-stick pans.
I just got one of the Jet Boil pans a few weeks ago and taking it out for the first time this weekend. Looking forward to making some breakfast burritos.
@@backcountrycuisine6226 I'll put some green peppers, onions, a breakfast meat (haven't decided yet), cheese, and some hot sauce packets from Taco Bell. And of course the eggs. I also got one of those small eggs suitcases. Should be good. 🌯☕
@@joethompson79 Sounds amazing! For really expensive($10/dozen), but great-tasting, unbreakable and light eggs, Ovaeasy makes incredible dried eggs. ovaeasy.com/collections/camping-food-storage-1
@@joethompson79 Whenever I go to Taco Bell, I always ask for extra hot sauce packets! Those condiment packets you can get at fast food restaurants are great for taking on the trail.
Thanks Dustin for the excellent review of the Jetboil Summit Skillet. Because it was your B-Day…you should have gift wrapped it…LoL! It really performed well and passed the acclaimed “Dustin pancake test”. Yes, a few more once’s then the other two, but I really like the heat distribution. I’m going to buy one and and see if I can make a good frittata. I often cook over a wood stove and put coals on the top of a pie tin when baking. But I think I might just try cooking over my stove (low and slow), remove and finish baking the top by putting my Snowpeak TI plate on top of the pie tin and add boiling water. I think the heat should be enough to finish off cooking the top of the eggs and melt some cheese.
Is this wood stove at home, or do you have a camping wood stove? I got a titanium one for snow camping and it has been amazing! As long as I pick good dry wood…otherwise it is a chore to keep it hot. Interesting idea with the boiling water on top. Why not while you are baking? Replacing the water every 10 minutes or so. I have also used my carbon felt dome on my wood stove with great results. You would have to remove the handle of the pan of course….Let me know how it goes!
@@backcountrycuisine6226 - I actually have several wood-burning camp stoves. Most of them are titanium for backpacking. My newest wood-burning stove is a Firebox TI Gen2 5” and the Firebox TI Nano. Both came with a piece of carbon felt that can be used as a windscreen or putting the Firebox stove on it to protect the forest floor. I like your idea of using a carbon felt dome, as that would be less work than running two stoves to boil water at the same time.
Hey Dustin, any updates to the DIY carbon felt oven hood video?...been looking forward to it since you made a comment about making one almost a year ago!. I have tried making one or two myself, but haven't had much luck with getting it to look as professional as yours & don't want to keep wasting material. If your not going to do a video, can you give me some tip's or tricks to making one? Love the info you put out!...Keep doing what you do! -Bubba
Just the push I needed! I made a video but it frankly sucked(hard to see what I was doing and pretty boring). i will really push hard to record the video today and edit it over the next few mornings before work. It has literally been on my weekend todo list for almost a year. Time to get it done! 😂 Thanks for letting me know that you are interested! That really helps to motivate me!
I finally got it done! Here is the link: th-cam.com/video/48mflQl7lnk/w-d-xo.html. Sorry it took so long, I had to record a couple of times as I didn't like the first (or second) take. Best of luck making your oven and please let me know how it goes! Cheers, Dustin

Would the soto windmaster stove be good for the jetboil skillet?
Why did JetBoil remove the FluxRing from their skillet line?
