I’ve done a ton of these in all phases…even left the motor in place…or suspended. Make yourself cardboard templates and measure everything. The strongest way is to lay the old frame on top of the subframe. May not look factory but it’s the strongest.
I do agree with you with it being the strongest that's why I did leave the bottom of the sub frame and well did that to the bottom of the other frame so it's notched in there So the bottom of the subframe I did leave full factory length
