To me what made the first KI so awesome was the sound and the combos. A 10 hit combo in this game felt so much better than a 160 hit combo in KI3 ..Like everything about this game packed a punch and had oomph. The new game is too colorful and cartoonish. This game was dark and just felt amazing. The cut scenes the music , sound effects , the announcer ...like this hit arcades like a bomb. I remember the first day it hit my arcade , it was two big set ups side by side with maybe 600 people trying to watch and get in on it. It was monumental, unlike KI2 and that made for Nickelodeon ki3

i was surprised to learn people hate fulgore, he was the only character i played with, even beat the arcade machine with him a couple times on one go. also remember him being in most of the advertising. maybe he's cheap or something and that's why, otherwise fulgore has always been my favourite.
Fulgore is statistically on the low tier of characters in the game, but is essentially what Ryu is for street fighter. He is the front man. He isn't a bad character, but the A.I. has access to moves and combos that you just can't either do or don't exist for players that's and he is the deathbot of ultratech like Goro is the guardian of Shang Tsung or Shao Kahn in Mortal Kombat. He is however an excellent character in he has probably the largest variety of moves at his disposal from multifire projectiles, teleport, near full screen openers, and on top of that he can reflect projectiles. www.gamefaqs.com/boards/588419-killer-instinct/43548911 That is the most used tier list for Killer instinct Arcade/Snes. Fulgore is rock bottom. So if you're good with him, stick with it =) beat the opposition of broken character using chumps.
I'm late as hell, but right on! In my opinion he was the type of character you had to practice with and know how to use in order to succeed with him. He was always my favorite as well.

When the Wii 2 comes out, Nintendo should play it smart and make a version of this game for this gen! This game was hot, and Fulgore was my fav! Not really a Wii guy myself, BUT this game would help boost sales I think!
The thing was that the creators of this game wanted to use the same production as Mortal Kombat. The reason I said that is because of the finishers, blood, and a battle ladder they included in there. Just the plot, characters, and stages were completely different and still yet enjoyable. This was actually the first fighting game to include combos before MK III did.

To make a 13 hits Killer Combo try this: Back, Forward + A + A, make the link (Forward, FD, Down, DB, Back + A) and then make other attack with Forward + A + A, and make the finisher with Back, Down, Back, Down + L, or Forward, Down, Forward, Down + X or Y. But this must be done very fast. For Ultra Combo, do the same but don't make the finisher, replace it with Forward, Down, Forward, Down + L.
I LOVE FULGORE & how the announcer says the character's names.....especially FULGORE, RIPTOR, SPINAL, CINDER with his intensity in his voice. Sounds like he screaming their names with excitement the most cuz with the other characters names, his voice isnt as high it seems like IMO.

I heard about that microsoft just renewed the KI trademark =) Im just hoping we will see KI3 real soon or at least a HD collection of the first 2 games because that series has disappeared for years regarding new titles in the series considering there was only 2 games and people loved it and i didnt see why the companies didnt do anything more with KI afterwards but either way I have faith that we will see KI again sometime in the near future =)

Just been watching videos of KI2 and KI Gold and I have to say the orginal KI has got much better combos. Ultras in the sequel games look more like spamming than combos!

This is the original ARCADE version of the first Killer Instinct. This is NOT KI2 or KI Gold.... The graphics suffered a lot when they did a port to the SNES. On another note, best game ever. I play this on my iPhone4 with a SNES emulator and get this... I hook up a wii controller via bluetooth for major pwnage and control all the action wirelessly :D (it even works with multiple wii controls for multiplayer on the same iphone4!) ... I'll post a video if anyone requests it

Fulgore's teleportation is so slow that is useless. I've only found it useful against Eyedol when he does those long jumps either forward or backwards.

As a kid, playing as Fulgore was always complicated as hell (and still is now LOL) but he had some of the best moves on the game in my opinion
