I only use parafilm on master slants and master petri dishes. Other wise i use cling wrap. Take a roll and cut it into 1 inch rolls and use it as such and only on petris that i will be using once they are fully colonized. Saves on parafilm, way cheaper and works the same. Then i dont have to fight with getting the paper off the parafilm. Either way works, just something else to try if your just getting into the game.
i just started using this tek also, definitely prefer it over the old style (i used to do the same as u). only difference is i use 2" wide. it might be a waste but we'll see over time if i should stick with 2" width, or goto 1" like u use.
I've been doing that for years, but I don't fold it in half, I leave a bit of overhang so I can get a little bit to wrap around the top and bottom of the dish.
@@Mossycreekmushroomsofficial Yes, I fold it much like you do, but I don't fold it directly in half. I fold it so that it's a little wider than half because I like a little overhang above and below the plate. It is easier to work with and it's a good tip, I just have a slight variation. ;)
Yeah, i picked up that tip last year...another one is parafilm is more stretchy when in warmer climates/weather otherwise it breaks and has less stretch when cold. It's a good tip...as its easier to see the plate too.
I saw this on Southwest Mushrooms video too! Great tip
Oh nice! I haven't watched his channel much but I should start watching it more.
@@mycominer Mike is also a rock star, like you!
Mind ... blown ... life ... changed! 🤯
I love this technique. Been using it for a while too.
Nice, it made a huge difference for me, and I was surprised it isn't more common than it is.
Thank you this really helped me. I kept breaking the parafilm.
This has made my life so much easier!!! Thank you!!!!
Love you videos! Do you have a video on oat prep? Soak times etc?
Thanks!!
I do absolutely! I have a couple in my videos section and a grain spawn playlist.
@@Mossycreekmushroomsofficial you and your team have a great channel! Have you ever done any atmospheric sterilization of grain?
Going to try this
It's well worth it!
you re the man steve
Lol, thanks Frank!

That's not a bad idea. I've heard of some people using a heat shrink for it. Gives me ideas.
What type of pneumatic piston does ben use for the hammer?
I dont think the one i have is long enough. I think that the emptying holes and the filling holes should be 1 distance apart from one another.
And i didnt come up with the cling wrap idea. Credit goes to myers mushrooms.
I still use Glad wrap cut into 1" pieces. Good enough for me. ;)

I'm not sure what you mean that you have been doing it? I was saying that folding the parafilm makes it easier to work with.

Thank you for the tip
I was doing that off the rip..saw it on freshcap mushrooms.. Tony..
Oh nice! I probably should sit down and watch some of his videos sometime. Thanks for sharing!
Is there a cheaper substitute to Parafilm?
Parafilm is dirt cheap. It's a little expensive on the front end, but it lasts forever.
@@Mossycreekmushroomsofficial Huh, maybe in my country it's expensive then.
Yooooo thanks for that!
You are welcome.
Thanks mate,
do you know of anyone that sells flow hood kits (complete units) in Canada ??
preferably in Ontario.
Thanks !!

Absolutely correct on it all!
It’s on my agar video
Oh nice, I hadn't seen that one yet.
My Parafilm keeps snapping when I try to stretch it maybe 2/3 as far as you're stretching yours.
What am I doing wrong? Gah!
Hey bro! Maybe hold the film a little looser
But peeling the protective paper off is still a pain in the behind.
I been doing this for over 10 years
Nice!
My parafilm snaps for some reason
Hey! Maybe try holding it a little looser

Grafting parafilm is cheaper and easier to work with
True dat!
Making parafilm affordable: grafting tape.
