I worked with Lorenzo on "Renegade" doing stunt work and fighting. He was very good and very respectful to all the stunt guys, cast and crew. We would hang out with him after shooting. Good guy.
Lorenzo Lamas Is definitely left out of the conversation of the great 90’s martial arts action stars. He’s done a lot of great movies. “Bad Blood” is my personal favorite from him. And nobody represented the 90’s Ponytail look better than he did. Gary Daniels runs a close second in that department. Lol but the 90’s was a GREAT Time and it was the Height of Not only American Martial Arts films but Of so many people from young to old wanting to become Martial Artists in General. A Great time. 🥋🏆
Great Episode, Wow! Jeff trained with Carter Wong, a Legend in Martial Arts movies in the 70s and 80s. Check out his movie Born Invincible. As for Lorenzo Lamas, he was in Grease and Falcon Crest. He did Drama movies, he is not known for Martial Arts movies until the 80s. We can thank Van Damme for all these Martial Artist doing movies in the 80s. Thanks for posting my friend.
Lorenzo Lamas is the man, his fight scenes in Renegade were the best that 1990s TV had to offer. Even better than Walker: Texas Ranger and Raven. And I say that as a huge fan of both of those series.
Lorenzo is LEGIT! I loved his B action films, including the 3 Snake Eater films. Renegade was such a cool show, as was Air America. I loved the fight scenes! Lorenzo looked so cool kicking people with that long ponytail, jeans, boots and 3 day stubble. Get him next!
Great interview. I always thought that Lorenzo Lamas was the real deal. Very capable on film and off camera. Jeff Told how it really was. Thanks for sharing. 👍👍
Branscome Richmond from renegade voiced the fender character in cyborg because the actor that played fender had too much of a high pitch voice for the character.
I’m thinking we need a Lorenzo Lamas interview soon on the channel?? Renegade was my favorite show in the early 90’s an his character was no doubt Badass 💯
i remember Lorenzo Lamas from his tv roles, he played a biker in one of his tv shows , i always thought he had good technique , never thought he had that training , thought a lot of his work was stunt doubles , you live and learn . keep up the great interviews .
Wow, this is interesting to me because Lorenzo Lamas did a lot of good action movies back in the 90s like Final Round, Bounty Tracker, CIA- Codename: Alexia , and of course, Renegade, but I never thought of him as strictly a martial artist. I always just assumed he was an actor who learned karate for action films. Boy was I wrong and I'm glad to know I was wrong and to know he's that good? Blows my mind to think about it! Really enjoying Jeff's interviews. I feel like I'm learning so much about these movies I grew up watching. Thanks!
Jeff I love you buddy! Great experience having you for my first antagonist! You are a legend and we will meet again! And Lorenzo definitely does not get his due toughness cred (our sparring scene on the hotel roof was just us actually sparring and a few added pick up shots to finish it off). Great memories.
This is a cool interview. Thank you for doing these. I love hearing about how these guys who paved the way did their thing back in the day with each other. The love and respect is so apparent in your conversations.
Nice Jammie, sorry I made a mess of your place, As far as i'm concerned one of my thoughts is the greatest line in movies was bounty tracker when he said that to the karate master that came out
Great interview and video. I forgot all about Lorenzo Lamas until y'all mentioned him. I remember his show Renegade on USA Network, which if I recall, would play around 11pm in syndication. It was to me like a great TV show for background noise back in the day if I was about to head out to the club with my friends (yeah, I had a party life when I was younger-lol!) or there was nothing else to watch and I couldn't go to sleep at that time. It was kinda up there w/infomercials, 800 numbers for sex chat lines, or the precursors to Tinder, LavaLife, which folks would leave a message and then you call back and get some replies for you to meet and hook up. Oh, the 90s and early 2000! Such a "magical time" to be a live! Lol!!!!
Lorenzo as one of the Best true martial artist in Hollywood I don't doubt he never bragged or talked much about it that's how you know who's who silence always says the most.
I always wanted to see Lorenzo Lamas and Joe Lara share the silver screen together. They both seemed to be such great actors that could have easily done something worth seeing. May Joe Lara rest in peace such an underrated talent gone too soon.
I don’t ever think Lorenzo Lamas ever got his due credit as an actor. He did a film that I still love to this day called Night of the Warrior which I believe was written by legendary Thomas Ian Griffith. There is a scene where he’s speaking to an older Detective who knew his dad who’s saying how great his old man was. Lorenzo’s character replies “ he was a fucking bum who walked out on his family”….. Brief but powerful scene and imo showed a glimpse of Lorenzo’s acting depth. Great interview with Jeff Langton Viking! Keep ‘em coming!
Yeah, but it was like watching Kitt Winger rebranded as a badass karate master, so yeah, ladies and men took similar responses to real life Kitt Winger.
Gary Daniels was mentioned here. That guy was one of my idols in the 90's. Scott Adkins already interviewed Gary in "The art of action" but what about you Viking Samurai? Could you imagine interviewing Gary Daniels?
Another great video with Jeff Lagnton, Viking Samurai 👏 He's a great story teller and very down to earth. And it's great that he gives Lorenzo Lamas the credit he deserves. Respect 😎🥋💪👍✌️
It was good time being a fan back in the 80's/90's. Every Friday & Saturday night, I would watch all those of MARTIAL ARTS action movies on Cinemax. I hope you get to interview some of those guy's, that Jeff Langton had mentioned. One guy that wasn't mentioned, was Jeff Wincott, he is one of my favorites.
That is good to know that Jeff Langton trained with Carter Wong for some years. Carter Wong also trained Stallone in that fight scene in Rambo 3. In my opinion and this is just me, but "The Raid Redemption" is the best martial artist move I seen in the last 25 years. Garth Evans did such a great job writing the script to "The Raid Redemption". Also Garth Evans knows how to get those angles with the camera. The Raid got 5 stars on rotten tomatoes. Good video Viking Samurai.
Great interview. It would be great to have Lorenzo Lamas on your channel. He's a great all-round athlete and exponent of traditional martial arts and you can see it in the execution of his kicks. I recall watching him on the night soap Falcon Crest and he would occasionally incorporate martial arts into his fight scenes which was pretty rare at the time.
Lorenzo lamas is a very talented marital artist, and was versed in many different style inc Aiado swordsmanship, Kendo and brilliant in kick boxing, grappling, submission, Taekwondo, wrestling, boxing, he was quite fast too, and had a good whip and range movement, control with his kicks. Plus he made some brilliant films with PM Entertainment and worked heavily with Fight choreographer Art Camacho and Eric Lee.
I used to watch Snake Eater with my cousin religiously when we were kids and always loved the floor nail trap scene. Never knew Lorenzo Lamas is a legit bad ass.
Renegade, was amazing...I was 19 when that came out...I used to work out while watching it. You couldn't help but be motivated. His kicks were really cool to watch. Same time I was into WCW, American Gladiator, Highlander tv show, and The Adventures of Hercules. When life was normal.
Lorenzo Lamas’ father, Fernando Lamas allegedly beat legendary NFL star Jim Brown, when Brown challenged him on the set of 100 Rifles. Brown didn’t know that Lamas was a black belt in karate, and found out the hard way.
Great interview. There are many talented martial artists who lack screen presence or charisma. They can beat up the film stars in real life situation but they are not always appealing to the eyes of the audiences. I was never a big fan of Lorenzo Lamas but I like his series Renegade and film Final Impact.
Daaaaaaamn. It's funny you made this video about Lorenzo Llamas. I just saw an episode of Renegade 2 days ago without seeing it in over 20 years lol. I wondered what happened to him. That's perfect timing.
Yooo I forgot about Lorenzo. I remember him VERY distinctly in Final Impact. He sure is, Adrian is versed in at least 2-3 various style of kung fu, I know one is hung gar, and as we all know a master of swordman ship, as he also coaches with the sword school the sword experience. Adrian Paul's teacher for many years on the highlander series and highlander endgame was Vernon rieta, a hong Kong stuntman and fight choreographer. I'd love to see Adrian Paul on here, he is such a humble good guy.
Thanks for this video! Because of your video i watch College Kickboxers. Never saw it before untill now, but what a great performance of Tang Tak Wing!!
oh i'm glad you did a segment on Lamas. He seems to get overlooked when it comes to the action genre. I used to really enjoy his tv show Renegade. And most of his action movies are decent B-types. But no one really talks about him when they think action movies of the 80s, 90s, and even 2000s. Plus he was tall. Just sayin’. He didn’t need to kick that high in jeans and boots, but did. This video made my day! Thank you, and keep doing what you are doing!
Brilliant content has always love listening to these stories of the movies from 80s 90s when they made the best action movies wish they still made them like it know
Fun interviews! I loved Renegade but barely remember Snake Eater films. Lorenzo was doing some Auto Racing type stuff I think he got pretty serious. U can see me in Redbelt a bit as Toro's Trainer/Handler, they were about to shoot the final scene when he is about to walk out fight my fighter Toro (A Real South African boxer) & I told Mamet hey you got to have signed wrapped gloves, commissioner etc. he thanked me and had he son come in as commissioner just then.
Lorenzo Lamas, use to be a customer at my family's Harley Davidson store. I remember him going into the store when I was in my early 20's. I remember when my family tried selling his custom Harley Davidson. It was a beautiful bike, but the problem was it was orange, so we could never sell the bike. He was a cool guy though.
Wow I Remember Watching Lorenzo Lamas First In The American Soap Opera Falcon Crest and Watching His Show Renegade and His Movies In The 90's - Lorenzo Lamas Was a Great Martial Artist.
I think I watched Snake Eater from Lorenzo and also CIA: code name Alexa, he was legit man, for all this was kickstarted by watching JCVDs Bloodsport, so I was looking for more American Martial Artist movies, I found Lorenzo, Billy Blanks, Cynthia Rothrock whom I first saw in an Asian Flick called "In the line of Duty 2" she was with Michele Khan who is now Michele Yeoh, Lorenzo Lamas is Legit. Again, thanks for great content.
Ok, I got one for you. What every happened to Bryan Genesse from the show Street Justice with Carl Weathers. Used to watch that one along with Renegade and The Highlander series .
lot of good info in this video and PM Entertainment was awesome back in the 90s. (College Kickboxers) is also known as (Trained to Fight) here in the U.S.
Have you ever interviewed Adrian Paul? I'd be interested to know how his martial arts journey progressed as he went through the Highlander series and if he continued it after the show ended.
I saw the name and had to watch!! I remember a show in the late 70s, early 80s??? before he was well known called Falcon Crest... it was like Dallas a prime time soap opera.. He fought some guy in a parking garage and did some fancy spin kicks and I was like cool! I want to do that!!
I used to love Lorenzo and always knew that He was legit. Renegade was one of My favorite Shows. I always knew that it likely wouldn't get a proper end, as although it was very popular; it wasn't popular enough with people who actually owned Nielsen Boxes, and Fox was still trying to find it's footing as a Network back then. I always hoped that they'd at least do a Made For TV Movie out of it, so we'd get a proper ending for Reno (like they did with their Alien Nation Series), but it never happened. I also thought that He should've been a bigger Name in the Action Genre, but He did make a killing in the Straight To Video Market.

I saw the name and had to watch!! I remember a show in the late 70s, early 80s??? before he was well known called Falcon Crest... it was like Dallas a prime time soap opera.. He fought some guy in a parking garage and did some fancy spin kicks and I was like cool! I want to do that!!
I'll be interviewing him in the future.
I always thought Lorenzo was underrated.
Totally forgot about him, loved the schow Rengade, good times.
Loved this interview heard many names I had forgotten about thanks Viking
