    These black tank leaks can be a nightmare to fix. Repair compound and glue seems to always have adhesion problems not to mention the tight spaces you need to get into. Looks like a great fix. Thumbs up, Lou.

    Had a similar leak on the black tank plumbing of our 1996 Pleasure-Way. But we were lucky in that all the ABS plumbing was easily accessible. And no dissimilar nylon bushings. We used something called Plasti-Mend, which is specifically designed for ABS tank & fitting repairs. Awesome stuff that made a perfect repair. But the Plast-Mend instructions are clear in that it only works with ABS. Never seen a black tank with nylon fittings, but I’ve only repaired leaks on our 1996 Pleasure-Way and our 1989 Falcon. Both had 100% ABS black tanks & fittings.

    While I don't have a black tank (or a gray tank) in my Four Wheel Camper, I found your video most instructive. I appreciate your clear explanation of your diagnosis methodology, problem approach and solution approach. VERY methodological! I have learned much from your videos, thanks.

    Wow, 19,267 subscribers now Steve...very impressive 👌👍!
    This was a great video! I've watched some DIY jobs here on YT, that were 32mins long, and they were long, boring & overdone - this was edited PERFECTLY! I was completely engaged the entire time, and never once got bored! Cheers buddy! 👌👍✌🏻😎

    Thanks for all of the info/advice, Steve! I've often wondered why some RVs have those "pedestal-less" potties (AKA half-assed toilets). I can't imagine having to disassemble part of the bathroom to fix a leak in the septic system! I shudder to think what an RV repair shop would charge to fix something like THAT! Anyway, I really appreciate your "teachable moments"!! Always filing it all away for potential future use! Keep 'em coming! Happy Trails!!

    Wow that tank's in a real "crappy" place. One wouldn't want to let that freeze up.
    You had me worried there, almost halfway through the video without a Harbor Freight tool in sight, thought I might have to sell my HF stock! ☺

    That marine stuff is great. I use 3M 5200 for underwater line intrusions into the hull of my boat. I also use that Water Weld putty on my bait tank on the boat hose connections.

    I see you took my advice and used a JB Weld product. I have used that for so many things over the years. Only problem and suggestion to others using these types of products is paying attention to cure time and temperature. I have tried to use this in winter time outdoors with poor results. With heat, however, and some time, JB Weld products can fix so many types of problems, including even fuel tanks punctures (a common off road problem here in Canada). Scuffing the surface of the area you are bonding to also helps with adherence.

    Gosh, with all the mirrors there in the loo, you could almost have a party by yourself! ;) Anyway, great job! I was kinda hoping you needed to use your new welder. I would love to see you get to use more of your new things on a project. Perhaps if Jessie needs to drill a hole in his tank to get the spout part out, you could weld up the hole when he's done! Lol!

    you can pull the black water tank by pulling the 3rd seat, undoing everything and sliding the tank out. from under the shower enclosure.

    Archaic toilet system, did you consider just ripping the whole system out and replace with a cassette / compost system ?

  • @CITAP1
    @CITAP1 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Bleach and steam the crap, so to speak, out of that tank, remove your toilet. Then get the daughter unit to reach in there and replace the connector with a new one or get a rubber grommet, goop it well, fit it into the hole, slide a new 3" pipe section up into it and lock in place with a hose clamp. Cut your pipe to length and replace everything else. Over time, the jarring of the road has probably caused the connection to vibrate and subject it too motion so much, it was bound to leak. Otherwise if it's working, good enough. Take care. During a search for something else. *.mp4 I came across some video of Mr Headley making the rounds at Camper Con, trying to hit on Royal... Puppets!
