  • Hellow Fellow Food Junkie Followers,
Today I am doing a short and quick video on why I use lighter fluid in my orion cooker. I have gotten a few questions over the years in the comments section about this subject and the chances of the lighter fluid touching my food. In this video I explain why that is not the case.

I would tell them that's worried about it to not worry about it, you do you and they can do their thing.

Right on brother. These are great ovens plus you can add a tad of smoke flavor at the time time.

That's a pretty neat looking cooker. I'm more low tech though. I got a $15 charcoal grill at Walmart. I have a gas grill, but I like the taste of the food on charcoal better. I made a homemade chimney out of 2 metal paint cans to light the charcoal. It's very small, but I can do a pack of hot dogs or maybe 5 hamburgers at a time. I love pork butt cooked on it, also various sausages. I don't think it would do a whole chicken though. Here's a link to the one I have--www.walmart.com/ip/Expert-Grill-14-5-Inch-Portable-Charcoal-Grill/54891440

Hey you use what you got ya know? I got a cheap Weber kettle and it cooks great 👍🏼. I like charcoal too but cook on gas grill mostly. This one is pretty dang easy though, just set it and forget it. Pretty low tech.

@@SouthernFoodJunkie I cooked on a gas grill for a long time but I just like the charcoal taste better. It's slightly more work. Unlike most people, I try to keep my grill grates spotless. I wash and scrub them after every use whether charcoal or gas. That way, last weeks hot dogs don't change the flavor of this weeks steaks. Most people don't do it that way, it's just the way I like to do it.

@@clintonearlwalker Yeah It does taste better. There are two was to look at cleaning the grates. Most people leave that on there for seasoning. Same as a cast iron pan. Most ppl that cook competition Bbq or have bbq restaurants will say the food doesn’t taste good until it has been seasoned and cooked on a bunch. They get them cleaned but will clean half at a time. I usually hear mine up then brush the loose stuff off with a wire brush.
