There is something so charming about them. I still recall getting Bachmann's 25/3 way back in 2001 I think after seeing it reviewed in Model Rail. Ordered it from Rails of Sheffield and it came in the second post, our postie would put all our parcels in the shed out of sight. I still have it in my collection, very special model
I had my first ( train set ) hate that term, as a child it consisted of a class 37 with three named Pullman coaches and an oval track probably about 1970 . I built numerous layouts as a young lad with 2nd hand damaged system 4 track awful but it did give me the passion for railways and I’m starting from scratch building an end to end branch line . I never realised 25s were called rats I loved them and obviously 24s , but I have purchased a number of them second hand i never worked on them but I’m an ex Crewe locomotive works apprentice , but I will say watching your vlogs has got me back into the hobby , I did dabble with N gauge but didn’t gel with it . Thank you for your common sense approach .
Brought up with class 25s in Wales and have always loved em. Have numerous Bachmann ones in boxes but have always had issues with the cabs of both types. I took files and drills to one of the Bachmann "late" 25s in an effort to reshape the cabs but wasn't successful. Have had a little more success with marrying the Hornby !boilered" !body to a Bachmann chassis, but confess I am waiting patiently for the Bachmann "boilered" class 25 to obtain my definitive models. My active / keeper fleet of Sulzer types twos is Bachmann D5036, D5137, D5141, D5147 and Heljan D7661.
I enjoyed this video - it prompted me to check how many 25s are in my N-gauge fleet; it seems I have 19 TOPS-numbered and 4 pre-TOPS (looks like I must like 'em, too!). In the 1970s there were 25s all around the Birmingham area , as you say, they got everywhere! Cheers! Kev.
My favourite loco along with the 58. We had loads of them at my local MPD Bescot. I know Farish used to do one in N gauge but is there one avalible now?
Hi Jenny, I was wondering if you could give me some advice, my N0 scale light turns on but it doesnt advance, should I clean the wheels. The digital box seems to function, and the engine is getting power, just not moving, I would so love to get it going again. Thanks if you can advice me. Love your channel.
Is there any way that you can tap into the circuit board on Suttons Loco Works Class 25's to get the fan working or change the fan so that it becomes a working one?.
Hi Jenny. What in your view is the Better DCC Control system out of the Gaugemaster Prodigy Advance 2 or the NCE Power cab starter unit. Thankyou. Brian.
Good video 📹, yes lots of 25s, they are a good locomotive. Is this your largest collection of a single locomotive 🚂 in the fleet?? You should do a video on other locomotives 🚂 in your fleet.

Love this video - can't wait to see your 'rat-running day' when the Rats take over the world ....

generic british diesels
There are fingerprints all over them.
I lent a loco to a model railway club once, never again.
Took ages to get it clean.
