Marconi Club is a popular Italian club that occasionally hosted some Australian rock and roll bands, mostly in the mid 1970s and 1980s. Though many other local and international bands might have performed at the club, I have only included clips that were easily accessible. Newspaper clippings and archived footage are often difficult to obtain. Bands that have played at the Marconi club include:
XTC which was broadcast live on TRIPLE J radio station, The Angels, Ted Mulry Gang, Little River Band, Jimmy and The Boys, Split Enz, The Lonely Hearts, Skyhooks, Rose Tattoo, Buffalo, Icehouse, The Hitmen, Dave Warner, Finch, Jon English, The Numbers, Cold Chisel, Midnight Oil,The Sports, Moving Pictures, Hush and Gerry Gnany's band.
If you know of any other bands that played at Club Marconi please comment in the relevant sections. I would love to hear any stories.

I saw Mother Goose at Marconi. From memory they were supported by Paul Kelly and the Dots. At the time I was driven there by a mate and had no idea where we were. The missus and I ended up buying a place just around the corner. We still live there and walk to the club often.

I never got to see any Bands there but I did the trek (with the Italian lads) from the Eastern Suburbs to Fairfield for the Legendary Sunday Night Niteclub then did the trek back to the Eastern Suburbs, slept and woke up to go to work many times in the late 80's early 90's. From memory the DJ played the last song and everyone was dancing in the congo line to end the night at 12am. What was the last song? You had to get there early as the line was huge. I also got to see Paolo Rossi and other Italian Football Players from the 82 WC play an exhibition game there in 92. Good memories..😀.

Dragon and OL'55 played Club Marconi; I recall working there when Dragon played their last show when they initially broke up around 1980.

I've been waiting for this episode of your Gioia, wow times were different, in your youth you guys had the live rockbands at Marconi where as in my time we had the nightclub/disco scene in the late 90's early 00's. I always felt like i was born in the wrong era lol. Thanks for another amazing video 😃

They were great days the mid 80s through to the late 90s. Gioia knows all the club's I went to in the same period, she is clearly from Liverpool/Fairfield so she'd be a good egg👍. Great, relevant videos, great work 👍

Hi There, I was at the Australian Crawl gig with support by Russell Morris. It would have been 1984? I was 17 and very nervous about being stopped at the doors. Fantastic show and RM was awesome.

I was working at the Pooled Resources gig which was on 1 December 1979. These bands worked out of the Dirty Pool agency hence the name "Pooled Resources". The stage was at the northern end of the Marconi field and it was an incredibly hot day which kept the numbers down considerably. Dirty Pool was a band management agency where one of my life long friends Mark Pope was one of the Directors. A bit of trivia, the poster for the tour shows Doc Neeson and Jimmy Barnes wrestling under water. The photo was taken in the backyard pool of Mark's then girlfriend's parents home in West Ryde.
Another great video Gioia. Thank you.

Wow. What a great story about that poster and in a backyard pool LOL oh so the soccer field Its completely changed that Club - very big and sadly no rock n roll except maybe Elvis impersonaters. In fact the President Morris loves to dress up as Elvis- true Lol Thanks. Moving a little away with this genre in my next one - the Hopetoun at Surry Hills.
