I taught myself by dissecting note by note over and over Peter Paul & Mary's Freight Train and Don't Think Twice It's All Right... when the album was new! lol after that... Simon and G... Kathy's Song.... these were my humble struggling beginnings... how different my journey would have been if I could have been blessed to learn for one hour from you Rob! I am 70 now... so much wasted time... I have learned so much from you Sir... thank you!!
Hi, Rob. I've been following you for a couple of years now, since I resolved to learn "Time in a bottle", to play at my friend's wedding. Unfortunately, it was too intricate to learn in the time scale I had allotted 😢. When I finally reached an acceptable level of proficiency, I attributed a high percentage of my success to your unique fretboard printouts, detailing chord shapes, hammer-ons, simultaneous string plucks, and so on. Since then, I have been in awe of your "Jolene", Simon and Garfunkel in 2 minutes, and "Never going back again", to name but a few. Chapeau, le mec, as we French say. I have elected to refer to your sheets as, "Roblature", as the idea deserves a name all to itself. Let's see if it catches on ...
Hi Rob, I am 52 and have been playing guitar for many years only to find out that I have been playing it wrong for the most part. 😂😂 I really only played by ear for the most part but now im trying to learn the correct way and how to undo all the bad habits i have instilled in my playing style. I thank you for your knowledge and I have been playing with your techniques. It will take me some time to get it right, but with your help I am doing it slowly but surely. Thank you sir, and I look forward to learning more from you.
Rob, you are very encouraging. I'm nearly 71 and have never got this stuff sorted. Now, I'm actually, nearly, almost getting it. Good on you, and thank you. Pretoria, South Africa.
This is my Goldilocks channel. Some channels are way above my ability and others are way below, slow and boring. You have the ability to hold my interest and teach at a rate that is both capitvating and interesting. I have been playing guitar since I was 15 and I am still horrible but you help a lot. I am now subscribed.
Mate, MATE, I came across your channel just before Christmas! I´m a guitarist of many bands and stuff over the decades, solo acoustic gigs for years... Have never, NEVER learned picking of any form! Way beyond my pay grade! You make this look so "easy" I´m going to give it a go at 60 and see where I get to! Off on a musical road trip in Africa later this year and would be amazing to be able to knock out a couple of songs picking! Can you imagine 🙂 Thank you my friend!
Thanks again Rob. Don't know if I'm ever going to crack it 🥺 But your videos are so informative and entertaining anyway. I look forward to every new one that you so kindly make. Cheers again 👌
Hi Rob, thanks for your videos and your unique notation sheets - after two years of lessons, I've made more progress in the few months of watching your videos than the entire time of lessons!
Thank you Rob, all I’ve got to do now is get my fingers to work like yours 😂 Love your teaching style and humour. Would you do a lesson on basic beginner improvisation using pentatonic scales one day? 😀
Hi Rob …New recruit here…been watching tutorials on YT for many many years, it might just be me being a thick Geordie but I cannot remember ever watching a vid that I haven’t had to rewatch numerous times before I understood! Haha …until now ..cheers…looking forward to discovering more 👍
Is it acceptable to be able to do this pretty quick and accurately with just the thumb and the index finger? Do some guitarist just use the thumb and index? I love your channel and I really appreciate all you do. Thank you.
Great stuff as usual. Been trying this pattern for oh bla di oh bla da --- how do you work an "F" in without going to a barre chord with this pattern? thanks so much !!
Love that tune by ,,Eric Satay . The work's unusual title comes from the French form of gymnopaedia, the ancient Greek word for an annual festival where young men danced naked , lol
Don’t forget to subscribe! Lots more to come. 👍🏻

How about the link to original vid? In the write up. It would get it more traffic. This video was fantastic!
Thank the gods! Someone who plays an open C the same way I do…. Glad to see the third-finger-workout isn’t compulsory!
My goodness you’re good!!!
Terrific stuff..! 👍🏻 🎉
Love that guitar Rob what's the make? Please.
Thanks this is so simplified

Thank you!
I like The Satie melody
Great stuff as usual. Been trying this pattern for oh bla di oh bla da --- how do you work an "F" in without going to a barre chord with this pattern? thanks so much !!
Capo 1. Play E, A, B7. This puts the song in the Key of F but avoids playing those tricky shapes.
hey Rob, do you plan to do a tutorial on Asturias or Spanish romance? or it's not your thing?
Yes I do. I know it but I’m not sure how many people will want to try it. I’ll ask them. 👍🏻
Love that tune by ,,Eric Satay . The work's unusual title comes from the French form of gymnopaedia, the ancient Greek word for an annual festival where young men danced naked , lol
How about the D chord? Thanks.
Inspirational!!!
Would love to see ya play some electric…
I wanna see your talent!!?
No problem. There’s already quite a bit on the site too.
I identify as an idiot in genius drag ! Thanks for calling me out ! 😆
What's that 12 string behind you mate ?
It’s a guitar my uncle got in Spain early 70’s. No name on it. It’s no good to play but it looks great. 👍🏻
@@fennahrob6934 Cheers, it's an odd shape isn't it?
Download link dosen't work. Like ur vids, your style , your lessons. Picked up guitar after many moons and trying to learn finger picking.
Thank you
Try it again. Works okay for me. Use Safari to open . 👍🏻
Try again. It’s ok this end. 🤣
Got it with chrome. Security warning.
