I was at that 1993 game. My brother was a Penn State student at the time and got tickets for us. They gave our commemorative coins celebrating the first B1G game for PSU. I think I still have it somewhere.
I remember the last year at Memorial Stadium 1981 in the next to last home game the Golden Gophers upset Ohio State 35-31 looks like that were some of the highlights
You are very sharp, so i am stunned u did mot mention what may have been Penn state’s most heartbreaking loss in school history in 1999 on a last second field goal against Minnesota when penn state was ranked second in the nation and was 9-0
I don't know why and I'm sure I'm wrong, but something tells me we might see a video where a mid-major schools asks a big, prominent program to have a home and away only to be rejected by the big school because they didn't want to play a "small school" to hurt their prestigious image.
This unofficial Jaguar Gator 8 historian will remind everyone you made a video about how the Metrodome had a conflict between the Golden Gophers and Twins in 2003, and how the resolution was met by the coach of the Gophers’ opponent, Michigan’s Lloyd Carr.
They play for a trophy, but the B1G has tons of trophy games and in the 30 seasons Penn State football has played in the B1G, it has played Minnesota in barely more than half those seasons. The term "rivalry" is a bit of a stretch in their case. Ohio State and Penn State have more of a rivalry than this, having met every year that Penn State has been a member with some important games in the series. With that said, Minnesota and Penn State should've discussed the finer financial details long before the mid-'80s.
I was at the 2019 game. It was awesome. I sat in front of a few PS fans. They told me to have fun in Pasadena. Unfortunately the Gophers didn't hold up their end of the bargain the rest of the season.
Minnesota fan here, our biggest rivalry is Paul Bunyan's Ax vs Wisconsin or the little brown jug against Michigan
As a PSU fan; we look at duh OSU as our rival. No one cares about the bell trophy or whatever monstrosity we have with Michigan State.
Minnesota hasn't been relevant since like 60's.
@@threatassessment606 PJ fleck says hello
@@PAGoTribe1963 as a MSU fan, yay i dont know why there is a rivalry game with PSU. I dont even consider PSU a rival
Minnesota has to play for trinkets because they never play for trophies

Bwawawaa oops
Dan Nystrom.

How is this considered a rivalry?
I live in Pennsylvania. Minnesota doesn’t even come close to being a rival for Penn State. All Penn State fans talk about are Ohio State and Michigan.
In what world is this a rivalry? Basketball has more heat over the NIT Championship from way back
They play for a trophy... that counts in football. It's not like say UM-OSU... but it's something.
@@mrmoose6619 So did UCF and UCONN but that didn't make it a rivalry
Now @jaguargator8 will Google this story and steal it for a video
@Joseph Basford That was forced by UConn. UCF was never crazy about that trophy. Not the same dynamic as the Penn State/Minnesota series.
@@mrmoose6619 eh not all trophies matter. this is one of them, just like the penn state/michigan state one
No mention of Dan Nystrom hitting a field goal in Happy Valley to upset the #2 Nittany Lions in 1999? My all-time favorite NCAA game
Penn State doesn’t have any rivalries, remember? They’re unrivaled. That’s how they try to keep Pitt down. Operative word here is try.
I thought they had a rivalry with basically everyone in the Big Ten east
Especially Ohio State, Michigan, Michigan State and Maryland.
Just because no one cares about you doesn't mean you're unrivaled
LOL Pitt keeps itself down with how much they suck
@@americanidol30nah, can’t say that about Maryland when the rivalry is one-sided in Penn State’s favor.

Ironically Oklahoma and Penn State would win the National Championship in 1985 and 1986 respectively.
Floyd Of Rosedale thinks Penn State is NOT a rival
A fledgling Troy Aikman was the starting QB for Oklahoma in 1985.
Even with Aikman, OU had trouble scoring on Minn in '85. The game was a slogfest. Of course, OU won, but they had to grind it out.
Don't forget about college football.... It's the best football!!!!!
Lol there's no bad blood. I like Minnesota aside from when they upset PSU back when they had Rashod Bateman
