I love insane engines in unassuming cars. Like the W12 in the VW Phaeton. Not really super powerful like the ones in Bentleys but it could be tuned for some fun sleeper action.

Apple to apples, the M5 is way more savage, way more sporty. In this size of car though, is sporty really the most important factor? the Interior is quite a bit more comfy in the S6. The M5 is well, quite a bit more everything else. :)
I have this same exact model A6. I think that between all C6 A6/S6 models, the 3.2, 4.2 , 5.2 , and RS 5.2, I find the 4.2 V8 A6 is amazing its my daily driver
pushing 618 at the wheels, APR really did a number on my S6. Thing is, he's probably already exhausted with light failure warnings dashwise. I've replaced 13 bulbs, 2 censors, and a pair of taillights all together in my 19 month ownership of my 06'. Very (annoying) car to maintain, and a slightly boring car stock, but putting 5k (upgrade-wise) into an s6 was a night and day difference. 19 months maintenance: $6176 Why so much? * *Every c6's owners nightmare Timing chain issues alllllll the way in the back of the block. Great video, sadly accurate, and whatever exhaust he got with the car sounds better than mine haha. cheers.

Calling it a "Lamborghini V10" is a bit misleading, isn't it? The V10 5.2 is an Audi engine, built-wise. It was built by Audi for Lamborghini Gallardo after Lamborghini was purchased by VAG.

The RS has 5.0l, the S6 is the one with 5.2. At least here in Europe. Also yours sounds like a modified exhaust, the one I drove sounded different, it was stock.

For around 10-15k i've seen quite a few of these for sale years 2005-2008, which seems strange considering the quality, features, sound, awesome looks, and also having a 430hp 5.2 v10, yes the maintenance, and insurance would be steep. but other than that is there any known major issues with these cars?
a very cool car.. and the accel. weeee :) my brother bought 1 used.. after 8 days some old dude in a skoda decided to turn out infront of him.. now its driver side is stomped in and cut tru from front to rear like a giant tincan opener attacked him. cut tru both rims and tires too doors is pushed so far back they cant open and the usual 4 mm gaps is now well over finger size. its terrible to finally get your dream car and then it just last 8 days. i hope its totaled.. btw.. i heard its the lambo gallardo engine thats used for this car.. is it true ??
yeaaaa the audi S6 of this gen really wasn't as great as it could have been.. disappointing amount of power for the potential it could have made But again, i guess that was the rs6's job wich... you guys didn't get in the us sadly ;c

My Volvo S80 V8 had a “dog” transmission as well. Once you drive it for a while, you get used to it.

The v10 is not actually Lamborghini derived. VW/Audi made it specifically for the s6. Lamborghini adopted the platform for the Gallardo.
