The NES, though seemingly ancient now, is still incredible hardware. It never ceases to amaze me. The potential! On a random note: My elderly neighbour in the 80’s used to have two Shih-Tzu dogs - Pac Man and Ms. Pac Man. :)
As a HUGE retro fan this is insanely cool, a downgrade like this would be PRAISED back when the NES was still the talk of the town. …of course, I wasn’t alive at that time, but it’s still cool to imagine!
Many PC's back then were just keyboards you plug into monitors. The NES was a chunky box with lots of room for advanced hardware so it kinda makes sense
tbh i find this a lot better than the modern console version of pacman CE, the controls feel a lot smoother and keeping track of pacman is a lot easier since the camera moves with him and the maze doesn’t take up the whole screne
This is pretty awesome, that a guy like @coke0774 have made a port for the NES of this Xbox 360 game "Pac-Man CE". Almost no slowdowns, fun action replay, and many great things that i'm extremely impressed how did he ported that game to the NES. Sadly the original work isn't public, however BNEI & M2 guys have asked him for the work, and after some polishing, they finally released to the public. @NintendoComplete , will you play the NES official demake of Gaplus too? (This got released in Namco Museum Archives Vol. 2 for Switch, but the dumped NES rom is avaliable too) Great vid!
I played so much PacMan-CE DX on PS3 back in 2007+. Started playing it again last year.Had no idea this Famicom/Nes version really existed. Reading your info it sounds like it was a fairly recent release. Would love to try it out.
I actually believed this was an actual game released back in 199Fun when malls would host such events. and then i read the description and got disappointed ;_;
it was originally, but it was turned into an official game emulated in (and then extracted from) a Switch game. technically it's Famicom with Namco 163 expansion audio, so some of the sounds would be missing when played on an NES.
When you press towards a wall it makes sparks. No miss means you don't die. Most people just run through the maze for 5 minutes, just staying alive, to get the achievement. But you can also just use L to rewind whenever you die.
@@customsongmaker L? Lol what? Ya I'm not playing on an Emulator or anything, I'm playing on original hardware aka an NES. I wouldn't wanna cheat my way thru anyway, defeats the whole purpose.
@@customsongmaker Any tips then to be able to create the sparks for a full second? Like perhaps just running around a tight circle or something? Haven't really been able to do it.
@@skins4thewin In the long corridor between the halves of the maze. Grinding as you approach a turn makes you turn slightly faster, so you should be able to start the sparks before a turn and then continue them along the long wall. Also, if you play normal mode and ignore the ghosts, you can pretty much be powered up from power pellets the entire time and avoid death that way. That's also the only way you'll get the achievement for all fruits, since you won't clear enough screens if you take time to eat ghosts. Plus you'll also get 400,000 points that way from all the fruits. Anyway after you unlock the achievements, you should try the original Pac-Man Championship Edition. It has 10-minute modes and more maps. Then after you've played that all you want, try Pac-Man Championship Edition DX, which has some gameplay elements that make it completely different.
This game runs on a Famicom period. The game is emulating the Namco 163 sound chip that is on the Japanese version of Rolling Thunder, Final Lap, Mappy Kids, Megami Tensei II
The graphics really have been pulled off in a Famicom/NES ROM. The extracted ROM is Famicom with Namco 163 expansion audio, so it works as intended on a Famicom with an Everdrive N8 Pro Fami, but all the "Arcade Pac-Man" sounds would be missing on an unmodified NES.
Yes nintendo did make the Nes but not all the games have to only be made by Nintendo other video game companies can help make cool games for it and this wasn't made by Nintendo
it is a real "NES" ROM, but it's actually Famicom with Namco 163 expansion audio, so it will run fine with all sounds on a Famicom with an Everdrive N8 Pro Fami, whereas on an unmodified NES, all the "arcade Pac-Man" sounds would be missing, but the game itself would still run, just with only partial sound.
it's "official", made as an extra for a compilation of NES games for the Switch. but someone extracted the ROM and it's in Famicom (with Namco 163 expansion audio) format, and it does run fine with all sounds on a Famicom with an Everdrive N8 Pro Fami.
Coke0774 is a wizard, I genuinely can not believe this runs on official Famicom hardware. So freaking cool
I just played it on my NES emulator and I STILL can't believe it...
and the fact Namco allowed him to put his homebrew on the newest Namco Museum

Billy Mitchell should know about this!
@@bboyhanvzla And then he'll make a run in BizHawk and pass it off as live gameplay.
How cool would it have been had this been released when the NES was still in its prime?
I think it'd be great!
Could you imagine the alternative timeline where this was the hottest NES game? Every NES game afterwards would have to rival its quality.
IT WOULD BE COOL AND AWESOME TOO MY FRIEND
Im in awe of this. Its really incredible.
People would be so thrilled to play this masterpiece
This game is madness. This would have been a fun game as a kid.
This game can be fun in still in 2023
Why the "would" it still is I played it by myself and it's additive
Looks like someone has Pac-Man Fever. It's driving you crazy.

This is just like Pac-Man but more thrilling
I have joyful memories playing Pac Man CE when it came out. I also had the plus edition too! Ahh, such fun memories.
Looking back then this should be legit to play Pac-Man CE on a real NES hardware. This feels much challenging.
It's amazing how the NES was more powerful than a lot of PCs at the time.
Total opposite of consoles nowadays...

Awesome! I love Pac-Man. The NES can be very powerful hardware.
I put this game inside my hacked Nes Mini, and wow, this is such an intense game, I love it!

kinda cool that this is actually a nes rom
An interesting take on the familiar _Pac-Man_ gameplay.
Like synthwave, it is Hyper 80s!
I still cannot believe that they included this and Gaplus as games in Namco Museum Archives.
This even feels like an 80s quarter muncher on steroids, and the fact that this runs on real hardware is all the more amazing!
This should have been called Pac-man Extreme
This Is so Fricking Crazy!!!

Hearing the official Pac-Man sounds instead of the NES demake sounds is impressive to me
Ah yes, a perfect way to play Pacman on your cell phone or computer, without worrying about it not being compatible
I just installed this game on my RG351P. So fun!
Really feels like it's Pac-Man's Dance Paarty.
Or special Pac-Man BGM for Tekken.
Wow, I see what I've been doing wrong now. Been focusing way too much on eating the Ghosts instead of the dots! 😅
I wish if they had the Championship Editions of both “Ms. Pac-Man” and “Galaga” for the NES floating around.
The sound effects are high quality for the NES!
It's Namco 163 cartridge expansion audio on the Famicom.
When you are playing this game, its the longest 5 minutes you`ll ever experience.
Nice!!!
Pac-Man for life! ^^
THAT IS VERY GOOD AND AWESOME TOO MY FRIEND
Also, it's hard to believe this was on nes 😳 The game is too thrilling
Famicom with Namco 163 expansion audio.
If ya dig the the original CE, then highly recommend checking out DX+ and championship 2
we have the nes version of the game since 2020!
"...runs on real Famicon hardware."
One word: WOW.
this is awesome
You really need to attenuate the expansion audio on your Famicom/NES, it's too loud.
I actually believed this was an actual game released back in 199Fun when malls would host such events. and then i read the description and got disappointed ;_;
So NOW I know that this is the original version of Championship edition of Pac-Man (I played the Android version, don't question)
it's not the original, it's a Famicom demake of an Xbox game.
(extracted from a Switch game)
Never had this game, but this would work with the Gray Box NES.
some of the sounds would be missing though, because it's Famicom with Namco 163 expansion audio.
Why does it sound like they used the Sunsoft 5B
it's actually Namco 163.
The core Essence of true gaming good clean fun this game was good during its era and it's good during these times even in this era

Is there a guide for unlocking all the Achievements? Like how do u create sparks? And for a full second? & what is a "No Miss" Finish?

Have this on my n64 everdrive. For some reason the dot eating sounds dont play. Must be an emulation error
it's Famicom with Namco 163 expansion audio - sounds like the Everdrive 64's NES emulator only emulates the 2A03 sound (CPU sound).
